I'm Proposing Right Before The Plane Takes Off

If you do propose in the airport (and I'm guessing that you are pretty positive that she's going to say yes), be sure to whisper to the stewardess that your GF just agreed to marry you (maybe they'll announce it on the intercom!).

Also, someone else mentioned one of the specialty cruises. If money's not an object, please, please check out the Breathless cruise. We've never gotten to do it, but it sure does sound romantic (I think they do extras for special occasions). I think it's about $200, and you get to watch the Illuminations fireworks in a private, romantic setting.

Best wishes!

Congrats!!!!!!!! That is so exciting!

I was just wondering if there was anywhere in disney you would rather propose then on the plane. I mean that is super romantic, but you are going to be at WDW just a few hours later. I just thought it might be nice to have a place you can return to or show your kids (if those are in your future), you know that one special place.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Get a ride in the front of the monorail and propose on the ride.
2. Of course, any restaurant
3. Call disney weddings and see if it is at all possible to rent the gazebo outside the Grand Floridian, hey if money's no object I'm sure mickey even has a price....maybe he'll show up.

I hope this helps

How ROMANTIC! what a wonderful, thoughtful husband she is going to get! Are you going to tell the flight attendants that you just got engaged?
All of the ideas you've gotten so far sound wonderful! I guess I dont' have anything to add but lots of Pixie Dust and well wishes! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Helen

. . . I'm gonna request a fruit basket and a bottle of champaigne & chocolate covered strawberries be placed in the room for our arrival . . .

1) It cannot be put into the room prior to arrival.
2) It can be awaiting you at the Front Desk.
3) It could also be delivered AFTER you check-in.

NOTE: Baskets don't get put into the room prior to arrival. Plus, anything with booze MUST be signed-for by an adult so it will not be left without a signature.

OH OH OH! I have an idea! A great place to propose would be after Wishes, they play slow disney songs by the castle. You could ask her to dance for a little while let the area clear out and then....get down on one knee!! Oh, so romantic!! It would be like you were the only two in MK!

pixiedust: lots of pixie dust to you!

Sorry for getting so excited! Congratulations!!!!

Wow! I will begin prayers tonight that my DD (4) will find a guy as sweet and thoughtful as you.

Many people have suggested perhaps waiting until you get to Disney World. I have to second that idea. Try to really imagine how it is going to be having just gone through perhaps one of the most emotional things in your life, then boarding a plane, sitting next to strangers, storing your luggage, etc... I would recommend just waiting for the right time while you are on the trip. I think everyone has a moment while they are there that they think, "This is perfect..." THAT is the moment you should choose. You will also probably find she will be more surprised that way.

Also, if your beloved is a girly-girl who will be very excited about wedding planning, go buy "Modern Bride", "In-Style Weddings" and about three other bridal magazines. She will be DYING to begin planning (unless she already has). :goodvibes Also, make sure you allow some special time set aside to call your parents...besides your bride, they will be the most excited for the news.

Have fun! This will be a trip you will never forget! Congratulations in advance!

Some of the things I have done, and currently do . . .

1) A leisurely afternoon at the Grand Floridian High Tea.
2) People-watch at FW on porch, moving her rocking chair with your foot.
3) Enjoying a drink while sitting in the rose garden behind the England.
4) Any of the boat rides after dark.
5) Relaxing in the hot tub. (Libations optional)
6) Jazz at Scat Cat lounge at PO French Quarter. (if open)
7) Evening drinks in Grand Floridian lobby with the string quartet.
8) Disney Florist deliver flowers to your restaurant.
9) Hire pixies to come with a gift.
10) Dinner at "Victoria & Alberts". (elegant, expensive)
11) Matre'd bring a pre-arranged birthday cake.
12) Tip servers to sing Happy Birthday or Happy Wedding.
13) Have Mickey/Minnie deliver flowers/glass-slipper (Very Expensive)
14) Rent a pontoon lake cruise with food.
15) Have airport limo put bouquet of her favorite flowers in the car.
16) Pull a glass slipper from suitcase while in car.
17) Reserve a 1-hr joint spa treatment and massage at the Grand Floridian.
18) While she watches TV after a busy day, draw her a warm bubble bath, and put her favorite perfume into the water. After she goes in, put rose petals on the bed for after her bath. As an option, bring champagne and fluted glasses into bathroom.
19) For only a SLIGHT fee, walk around the grounds of a deluxe resort, and arrange to have dinner waiting at a table on the path.
20) Send your wife flowers on no special day with a note "Happy Unbirthday to You". Send it to her work and her co-workers get jealous.
21) Write a note like "Love You Near" and put in her underwear drawer.
22) When you get back after walking the parks sit her on the bed, slowly take off her shoes, and rub her feet. (A definite killer!)
23) When tasting the wine, place her finger in the glass and taste the wine from her finger. This also blows the Wine Steward's mind.
24) As she is getting dressed (not undressing), sit on the bed and ask her if it is OK for you to watch, because she turns you on, even GETTING dressed.
25) If she wears glasses, take them and PUT THEM ON her. This also gives you a chance to caress her cheeks as you look into her eyes.
26) Instead of sitting across from her at the restaurant, surprise her and suddenly sit next to her, and then play "kneezies".
27) Dinner at Narcosse's.
28) Lastly, write her a poem. Style doesn't count. In this case, the THOUGHT is really the important thing.

Well of course, since you're proposing right before take-off you'll have to mention something about being in the clouds...

What you really need is a tee-shirt that says: "I went to Disney
World and all I got was this Fiance" for her to wear when you get home!!!
I love the shirt idea.

Okay, here's an idea if you're sure the airport is where you want to do it. Tell her you're going to check on your seats and sneak up to talk to the gate agent. See if he/she is a good sport and ask him/her to make the following announcement a few minutes after you've returned to your seat.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Delta flight 123 to Orlando. In a few minutes, we'll begin our pre-boarding process. At this time, I'd like to ask any couples who have gotten engaged this morning to please come to doorway 25 to board your flight to happily ever after."

Drop to your knee with the ring extended.

Here's another one...

Have a banner printed that says, "Jane, I love you. Will you marry me? - John" See if the baggage handlers will hold it up for you on the tarmac and guide her over to the window to "look at the plane."

And one last one...

If your airport is like ours, there are advertising posters all over the walls. See how much one costs and have it say, "Jane, I love you. Will you marry me? - John" On your way to the gate, get a pebble in your shoe or stop to tie your shoelace or some other excuse to stop in front of it. Take as much time as it takes for her to notice the sign. When she mentions the fact that it's the same names, pull out the ring and drop to a knee. (Or I guess you'd already be down there if the ruse was tying your shoe.)

Our daughter, a couple of years ago, got proposed to at a certain tree in the MK. They had their first date at that location when she was doing the college program, and during our annual Disney vacation, we were invited along to see and capture the event. Son in law was all nervous all morning, going to propose at the exact time they first met, and carrying around the ring in the am while we were enjoying the park drove him nuts.

Finally the hour approached, we neared the tree and we kept our distance and let them have their moment. Amoungst hundreds of people, son in law gets down on one knee, asks her to be his wife, presents the rings all for us to capture on video and stills with tears coming down our faces.

To this day, we still vacation together, visit the same spot and take photos and relive that grand time. To top of the proposal, we all had a special dinner at the Yachtsmans Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort. We still have our special dinner each trip there, it all holds so many fond memories for us that both daughter and son in law enjoy Disney as much as we do and like to include us, and we them, in our vacations.

Congrats! My idea doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Disney but with vacation proposals in general. My DH proposed on the first day of a cruise and after I said yes, he gave me a bag that was filled with wedding planning magazines and books. I was so excited to begin more concretely planning things so it was great to have those on hand!

AWWWW!!!!!

Oh my goodness! That is the sweetest! How cute is that?!

My now husband proposed to me in Cinderella's Castle 2 and a half years ago and I just cried and cried my eyes out. The reception from the staff and the other diners at the restaurant was overwhelming, so I could barely get a yes out! LOL!

Anyway, some romantic ideas, other than what you already have planned (and I ditto the t-shirt idea):

-the Carriage ride @ Port Orleans Riverside (bring a bottle of champagne, they allow you to)

-Dinner at California Grill

-Wishes cruise

-And ditto the "let people know" idea, b/c Me and my Hubby also went to WDW for our honeymoon and they let us in front of lines and on Splash Mt, not only did they bring us to the front, but they gave us our own raft! So, it was a nice cheesy photo of just the 2 of us going down Splash mt.

-Drink around the World! We also had a really nice easy going time when we drank our way slowly around the World Showcase. We got to talk alot and just chill stopping in each country and getting a drink. It was great.

No special ideas - just a huge CONGRATS and have a fabulous time!!!

A suggestion for the proposal.
Since we really can't "carry on" too much anymore. I'd make a special goodie bag for her. Just don't let her into it until you get to the time of the proposal.

Bag - bridal magazines, wedding planning book, a t-shirt that says something like "just engaged" or "future Mrs. X" - then as she is going through it and getting the idea, you are getting out the ring.

Make sure the gate agent, flight attendants, magical express driver and CM at check in know. Maybe even try calling ahead and having it noted to your reservation so the CM knows right away. I would also have it noted to your ADRs. Not for the expectation of special treatment but if your girl will be super excited and want to tell everyone - to get the congrats as soon as you show up anywhere will blow her away.

Romantic Ideas:
Massages
Fireworks Cruise
Victoria & Alberts or any dress up dinner - if she is bringing typical "park clothes" - how about having a friend grab a nice outfit and shoes from her closet and give it to you to pack?

This is so sweet!!!!! You HAVE to let us know her reaction and what you finally decide on as far as the proposal goes... we will be waiting to hear.

I would like to suggest a carriage ride around Port Orleans. It's beautiful and romantic. You can bring drinks and food with you. The cost is $35.00 plus what ever you decide to tip the driver.

Congratulations and have a very magical trip!!

CONGRATS!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

All of the ideas posted are wonderful ideas. I specifically like the bride/groom mickey ears - you are sure to be stopped by almost every other person for congrats! Good luck, and by the way, make sure your girl doesn't go on this website until you've engaged!!! :thumbsup2
