I love MNSSHP and could see myself going down for nothing but that party! But it may be cheaper to add 1 or 2 days to your tickets and skip the party. Weigh that out and decide what is most important.
Work with YOUR budget and what you can do comfortably. I am having to pay for our entire trip with money i make doing surveys and couponing along with odd jobs I can pick up like cleaning for my sister or sewing & alterations for friends. I started last March and my trip is paid in full already
I would skip WPF&M. Kids don't seem to care as long as they are in a pool. I was amazed mine wanted to play in the pool instead of go to a park one day! If you get free dining and stay in a Value I think you can pay to upgrade to the 2nd level that allows Table service. It would probably be cheaper than adding a couple table services out of pocket.
You can also look into visiting some of the resorts on your off days. AKL has animal observation areas, Campgrounds have different things to do, you can go to the Boardwalk area and just check it out. Go to Port Orleans and take a boat to DTD. Go to a Monorail resort and ride the Monorail around for a little while, check out the resorts along it.
Get a Hidden Mickey book and do a Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt
(or just look up stuff online and make your own)
