I'm not liking the parade this year

Doesn't matter how much advertising they did, they still showed some of the parks and the rides. I was surprised to see the HM float in the Xmas parade. We were getting ready to go to SIL's house, and all three DDs are sick, so I missed a bunch of it. I would have loved to sit and watch it through again.

I TiVoed the Parade and I' watched it last night. I enjoyed seeing the parks, etc but got very tired of hearing about Magical Gatherings. I also thought Regis and Kelly seemed a littlr stiff. I wish they had been allowed to be more spontaneous.

The girls that sang during the Princess segment are Disney Channel actors. Christy Carlson Romano is from Even Stevens and Kin Possible ...Annaliese Van Der Poel (sp) is from That's So Raven. I thought they were very good!

The whole parade is nothing but a commercial, and I agree that I would rather see more of the resorts and attractions than the families there.

However, I still get Goosebumps from the great memories it evokes and I can't wait to get back there. I loved it!

PARTS I LOVED.... Clay, Disney Characters dancing and singing, seeing WDW all dressed up for the holidays.

PARTS I HATED....Non-stop advertisement for Magical Gatherings, "fake-ness" of the conversations, Raven and Jessica Simpson (who told them they could sing??)(although admittedly I am not a teenager so what do I know!), the other Pop and Country singing "stars" (I also recorded the parade on our hard drive and when I re-watched this morning I skipped that Julio whoever and that funny-looking group that sang in California). AND WHAT'S UP WITH INCLUDING THE BRADYS!!! Huh???

I tried to enjoy it just for the "Disney" of it, but it was hard. My kids paid almost no attention to it, today or yesterday!! BUT... it was worth it to hear Clay Aiken sing!!

But what would be wrong with it just being a parade?? Why does it have to include so much other, extranious (sp?) stuff.
Just my Humble Opinion!!......................P

We watched a little of it, but then I had to go and get ready to go to my brother's. I thought it was like one long Disney commercial. I thikn it's fun to watch TV shows about WDW because I enjoy figuring out where they are and stuff.

I thought it was Christy, but I wasn't quite sure. I knew she was in the Circle of Life segment. I don't watch the Raven show, so I didn't recognise Annalise. Oh, and Belle is soooo gorgeous in her holiday dress!princess: :D

We thought it seemed like a giant commercial for Magical Gatherings, too. I enjoyed seeing bits of the parade & parks, but the commercial aspect was way overdone IMHO. It's funny, seeing the parks makes me want to be there, but seeing all the commercials makes me glad I'm not there. Somehow I don't think that's the effect they were striving for with all those commercials!
I wish they would get someone other than Kelly Ripa to host the parade because I really can't stand her.

Can we please stop with having so called pop and rock stars singing Christmas Carols in this show. I keep waiting for them to start grabbing their crotches during Joy to the World or Silent night?

DD and I watched the first hour before we had to get ready for Christmas dinner. At first we were both ecstatic and it was fun to see the floats come down Main St. and I really liked the opening number with Clay and all the dancers, but then I started getting annoyed with all the Magical Gatherings promotions. And Regis never seems happy to host this parade, in any year I've seen him do it. I actually wasn't too sad to turn off the show to get ready and other years I would have been!

I've figured out why so many of us didn't like the Magical Gatherings commercials. We're all loyal Disney customers, but we can't take part in this new offering unless we can get 7 other people to go with us. That is difficult. I never could do it unless it was with others of you. I can't even get ONE person locally to go with me.

This is the first year I watched any of the parade and I turned it off after an hour because it just seemed like one big commercial. I got excited too when they went to Pop Century; I thought they would at least show a little of the resort.

We loved watching the parade because we were there when they were filming. It brought back memories from our trip. From where Regis and Kelly were sitting the sun was directly in their eyes. I don't know how they kept from getting headaches.

We were there, too, so that made it fun to watch. Kelly and Regis had to have a script to read because most of the stuff they were talking about wasn't actually happening then and there for them to even see - it had already happened on previous days and was just edited together. By the way - Kelly was very friendly to the crowds. Regis was. . .well. . . Regis.

Also, I can't really blame Disney for making it a big commercial. As much as we may think of it as so much more, Walt Disney World (and Disney in general) is a business. Since most of us are so familiar with all the stuff they were saying, it may seem overly repetitive. But most people have probably never heard of Magical Gatherings or paid attention to the real commercials. Disney has to do something to get new people to come.

Things I loved:
Seeing Mickeys Phillarmagic (sp?)
Seeing Mission Space
The singing - I thought everyone did a great job especially Clay Aiken and Jessica Simpson.
The floats.
Switching to Disney Land

Things I hated:
Star Jones - augh who cares!
The awful script!
Give Kelly some Sun Glasses PLEASE!
If I hear the words Magical Gatherings One more time!

Things that were just okay:
I didn't mind seeing actual families going around the parks and riding rides - because that is what it is all about. And as far as it being a huge commercial - yes it is - but does it have to be so in your face all the time about it?

Does anyone have a copy of the WDW Christmas Parade? Is there any way that I can get one from you, if you do?

Thanks,

Janet :)
