its not very disney or christmasey... :guilty:

I can't watch it.. I was supposed to take my DD and my granddaughter to WDW in December - for our first ever MVMCP - and it didn't work out so now I just can't watch it cause it makes me feel sad... :(

What's different about it this year?

I'm watching it and one thing that really strikes me is all of the "cross promotion." ABC shows mixed in, mentions of the new Disney DVDs, mentions of "Magical Gatherings" etc. It makes it feel like a cross between a Disney Parade and a commercial!! But I love WDW so much I've got to watch anyway. :)

Over the years it has become increasingly more commercial. I don't mind the stars from ABC, The Disney Channel or Disney Movies, etc. appearing in the parade, but the switching from park to park and showing little of the "Disney Christimas Parade" is wearing me down. (Like I want to see Miss America or Star Jones' Magical Gatherings

Each year they share less and less of the actual parade and it's to the point where there is more of everything else. I guess they feel that this being the 20th telecast of the parade they can slip in more messages other than the parade itself.

I just keep telling myself "I'll be there next year".

Wow I completely forgot that it was on this year!!! :( I guess I didn't miss much.

I'm very disappointed. I was at the MVMCP and watched the parade, but it was not that well lit and I had hoped to see it better in the daytime. It is nothing but Magical Gatherings commercials and singing stars.

:( That's a shame - my grown DD so looks forward to seeing that parade on tv every Christmas..

We haven't watched it yet, we taped it because we were still opening gifts, etc. We will sit down with hot cocoa & goodies and watch it in a while. I won't tell others of what thoughts have been said and see what they think.

it really has become too commercialized over the past few years. they seem to skip around more to other places too (even disneyland this year) i finally stopped watching and started playing with the new digital camera i got for x-mas...will have to get a couple more flashcards before february!

Yeah, all the switching around between parks, and mentions about "Magical Gatherings" was annoying, but I still enjoyed it. Even my kids, who generally have the attention span of gophers were enthralled! Dd (4.5 yrs old) won't stop saying "When can we go to Disney World???? I want to see the Princesses! And Mickey! And Pumbaa and Timon!!" LOL

I actually like seeing the other parks, and though it was really great that they spent more time at DL than last year (all of about a minute the last time). After all, without DL there might not be a WDW. Nice to include the original.

As for the rest of it, I agree there was way too much emphasis on "Magical Gatherings". If this were a drinking game, and you had to chug a beer everytime they mentioned "MGs", I'd be passed out on the floor right now :teeth:

I started watching it, and I walked away real quick. What is so great about Magical gatherings? That must be because they never traveled with our extended family, there's nothing magical about that!
I'd rather go on my own with my own family, do whatever I want at my own pace and have a blast, the magical gathering doesn't do anything I haven't done yet , and it probably costs wayyyyyyyyy more than I paid.

Could someone give Kelly Ripa a pair of sunglasses? She squinted the whole time.

I saw the parade during MVMCP, the parade on TV included alot more floats. I thought they showed alot of the parade, I was happy with that.

The "Magical Gathering" thing was starting to get on my nerves too.

Heh, Debbie, I thought Kelly needed some sunglasses, too!

The Magical Gatherings promotions got tiring pretty quickly!

I was excited when they went over to Pop Century, because I thought they would show the resort, but then all they showed was the family standing there!

I still liked it a lot, though! Its Disney, and Christmas, and Clay Aiken! Good enough for me! And the little girl who sang was so very cute!

My son and I watched it for a while but when my son commented that Regis didn't act like he was particularly glad to be there, I realized that's how I felt too. I normally enjoy Disney "commercials" but just wasn't in the mood today. I found a show about Christmas traditions in various small towns including Natchitoches, Louisiana where we spent last weekend and that was more to my taste today.

It was way too scripted... very fake. Conversation between Regis and Kelly and the others didn't flow right.

When did a Christmas parade have to turn into a commercial? I was very disappointed and I usually love everything Disney. :(

Well, I thought it was a somewhat mediocre show this year. I don't care for all those so-called pop stars. I too think the promotional references were a little much this year. I did like seeing Belle, Snow, Cindy and Jasmine:D :D :D not to mention Michelle "Mulan" Kwan showing us the new LA concert hall.

P.S. Who were the 2 girls singing when the princesses passed by? They looked liked princesses too.

I was wrapping the presents to bring to the neighbors when it was on, but even from the next room it seemed like a big commercial. DH commented on that too.

When you really think about it, the broadcast of the parade has always been a commercial for WDW. Enjoyable to watch, but still a commercial.

Before Disney bought ABC, there used to be a disclaimer at the very end "program paid for by the Walt Disney Company". I don't think it's on there anymore, since Disney and ABC are now one company.
