I'm not feeling it for the 50th celebration starting in May

I will be at DL in March and in May for the beginning of the celebration and based on these boards and others I just don't think this celebration is catching on with everyone for DL. I don't think there's a fever for it. I remember when the hype was going for the Millennium bash at WDW the boards were very, very busy. We were all sharing strategies, etc. We were planning a 1/2 year ahead and even more so. We went to WDW twice that year and it was extremely crowded each time. Here we have a world-wide celebration starting and I just don't feel it. I enjoy the celebrations; so, I go to them; I'm hooked for anything special or different with Disney. It makes the trip more exciting for me but I'm not seeing this one catching on. Maybe, Disney is not creating enough excitement about it.

Does anyone else feel the same way? I'm not complaining because if there's less crowds it will be easier to do everything.

I can understand how you're feeling Bette, but don't worry about it DL will be ready. Disneyland does not have a very large presence on these boards for whatever reason. I can assure you the Disneyland communuty is getting super excited, you're just not hearing about it through the DISboards. Everything in the park is recieving a new coat of paint. You should see the castle, it's small but it sparkles! You will have a fabulous time at Disneyland!

I think you will see more people coming during the summer months. Once the Disney Magic hits California, the people will "cruise" over to Disneyland.

In the beginning of May, my children have state testing. Taking them out of school is forbidden. I think families in California have the same concerns. We will be celebrating my birthday at Disneyland the first weekend in May, but will not take time off from school to visit on May 5th. (okay maybe I will play hookey, but don't tell anyone )

To change a line from the movies, "if you promote it, they will come."

Just as I wrote this post, the next day there it was on CBS. Not just once but twice within a couple of hours during prime time did I see the commercial. It was a wonderful commercial. It emphasized the 50th anniversary and there were many characters shown. It made me tingle inside and it made me happier.

They have just started promoting it so I am sure that the excitement will be building up in the upcoming months. I am considering going the last week of August of this year or next year. If it looks like people will be flocking there this summer, I will probably wait until next year after it has died down. 50th celebration goes until November 2006.

I've just seen the commercias. I think it will pick up speed by Spring. A group of us are planning for early December.

I've just started seeing the commercials too. We have an early December trip planned. We've never been there at holiday time and we're looking forward to it.
