Yes, there is a toonie...it is the nickname of the Canadian $2 coin. The name was a play on "loonie", which is the nickname for the $1 coin, taken from the image of the common Loon on the reverse side.
The toonie doesn't have a loon, it has a bear, so early on some wanted to call it a "bearie"...
