I went out for lunch today at Thai restaurant with a couple of my co-workers – when we were checking out, the lady ran my credit card, and then put it in her mouth to hold it while she punched in the information. EEWWWWWWWW!!!! EEEEEEEEEWWWW!!!!!!!!!! AND DOUBLE EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! :crazy2: I seriously looked at the guys with me and said “She so did not just do that.” I think she heard me because she took it out really quick and sort glanced over….. I think to see if I was going to say anything. UGH…… where is the disinfectant when you need it?? :sad2:

Not only is that gross for you to then have to handle, but what is she thinking? She just put all those germs in her mouth!

I have worked in banking for a few years now and I am still amazed at how many people put money in their mouth. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about what their putting in their mouth. I saw a show, I think it was dateline and they tested five 1's five 5's and so on. They found that 4 out of 5 tested positive for fecal matter, cocaine and other bacteria.

There is a restaurant we go to that they put the leather check holder deal in the back of their PANTS!:lmao: ewwwww...I haven't been back.

If you think that is bad just think of what they are doing when they are making your food? Now trust me that is probably much worse!

I have worked at 3 major restaurant chains when I was in my twenties. If you knew what went on in the kitchen, you would NEVER eat in a restaurant again.

Cooks that would stand on the cooking/prep areas to adjust the fan or grab something they needed.

Food preparers that would use a rag to wipe the counter and then that same rag to wipe the edge of your plate.

Drop a spoon on the floor, just wipe quickly on their apron and carry on like it never happened.

Looks like there might be to many fries on the side with that steak? No problem, leave the plate in the window a minute or so, 3 maybe 4 hands will thin them out for you "taste testing" them.

The sad thing is, is even if you mentioned it to a manager, nothing would change that much.

I should never have looked at this thread--I am a huge germaphobe and I'm not going to be able to eat in a restaurant without thinking about this stuff for at least the next couple of weeks (or at least until I'm sick of cooking again!)

Ack! This reminds me of where I work. I have a campus job and I work in food service. Every student who lives on campus has a meal plan here and to use your meal plan (1 meal deducted every time you swipe your card) a cashier will swipe your card on this nifty machine. I have gotten tons of card from people who walk up with them in their mouth. It's disgusting. Luckily, we now keep a bottle of purrell by the registers now.
I feel your pain.

I work in a library and you would be amazed at the number of patrons who put their library cards in their mouths and then take them out to hand to me. I try to take the part that wasn't in their mouths and then after I help them, I run to wash my hands. What makes them think I want their card after they have slobbered all over it!

How about the time I saw the rag drop on the floor and they just picked it up and started cleaning the counter (and later probably my plate). Ewwww!

This is one of the reasons we don't eat out very often!

Ewwwwww!! :crazy2:

This whole thread is giving me the willies.

Yucky! Know what gets me? Being in a public restroom and seeing someone come out of a stall and leave without washing their hands. Icky yicky! :sad2:

Now I am thankful that we rarely eat out. lol j/k

We sat at a sushi bar in a nice restaurant and we enjoyed watching the sushi being made, I didn't enjoy it so much when I noticed that they carefully wrapped each piece of fish between orders with a clean piece of plastic wrap, but they wiped the work area with the same damp cloth the entire time we were there, without even rinsing the cloth even once.

I was at a luncheon at a chain restaurant. One of the ladies in our party complained that her soup wasn't hot. So they took the bowl, and one if the other ladies in our group who happened to follow the server since she was headed the same direction watched her pour the soup, that the other lady had tasted, back into the pot.

a WHOLE bunch of ppl by Lansing got sick at a resteraunt because someone who worked there was sick and didn't wash their hands after using the bathroom.. :scared:

Some people still lick their fingers to turn pages, count money, pull another plastic bag from the stack in the grocery checkout....I am amazed that people still do this. The worst one was the lady who was serving food at Boston market. She had gotten some gravy on her hand and licked it off and proceded to serve like nothing happened. We left.

Something else I don't like is when people's hair flops over the food. This bothers me with several of the tv cooks- Rachel Ray, the semi-home lady,..barefoot contesa.

I had a sandwich at a food court and wanted to take half home, so I took it back to the place I'd bought it and asked the cashier to have it wrapped. I noticed that she was coughing and coughing, but I figured she'd hand the plate to a cook to get it wrapped. Noooo- she picked it up with the same hand she'd been coughing into and wrapped it herself. I tossed it in the trash on the way out.

The other time I was oooged out, I had picked out a flavor of ice cream for a cone, and the lady who was scooping it out had a nasty looking bandage on one of her fingers, I really lost interest in the ice cream. She should have been using a glove, but wasn't.
