Hi - I just learned about the point system and possibly renting points from someone. I'm trying to rent points for a vacation planned for Feb 13-17 at Disney World. I would like to stay at the Colorado Springs Resort, or other suggestions would be appreciated. However I can't seem to find how many points a night it is to rent for this resort and many others. I only find a list of some of the resorts under the Points Chart. Where am I going wrong???

Help Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

Welcome to our forums.

Coronado Springs is not a DVC resort, it is a regular WDW resort. Point requirements at non-DVC resorts is usually pretty high, and would cost you more to rent points to stay there than to pay cash through Disney.

The DVC resorts at WDW are Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club Villas, & Boardwalk Villas.

Depending on season, the points required for Coronado Springs are: Sunday night to Thursday Night 16 to 25 points per night, Friday and Saturday nights are 29 to 45 points per night.

As Chuck mentioned, Coronado Springs is a regular WDW resort. WDW resorts are hotels, ranging from the 'Value' hotels such as the All Stars or Pop Century, up to the Grand Floridian, or Contemporary .

DVC is not a hotel, it is a timeshare, and the villas are not hotel type rooms, but more condominium type accommodations, or small apartments. Owners have purchased a real estate interest in the property, on average probably $15,000 each, (or more), and pay annual dues, which includes items such as insurance and taxes.

And as a timeshare, things are very different than a hotel. No daily mousekeeping service for example..

Hope this helps

I'm not sure what size accommodations you are looking for, but if you are wanting to rent points to go to WDW, you could stay in a studio at OKW for the dates you indicated for around 41 points. The studio point costs for your dates range from 41-53. A 1 bedroom unit ranges from 82-114 points. If you check the rental boards you can probably rent points between $10-12 per point, so for $400-500 you could get a studio at OKW (not bad for 4 nights at a deluxe). The rack rate for Coronado spring would run you $775 and the if you had an annual pass, the lowest rate for Coronado springs would run $552.

Of course the big problem you would face now is availability. Since your trip is coming up pretty quick, you would have to find someone that has the points and get them to check to see if anything is available. Probably the best bets would be OKW or SSR (since they are the largest). It's worth a shot. Just expect to have to pay the full amount up-front when you rent the points since you are within 30 days of your trip.

I'd offer to help, but my points are all used up for now... :confused3

Good luck!

Thank you so much - now I understand - it would really be better to just stay at one of the Resorts. Thanks again. Bonnie
