Hi everyone i have been around for weeks just looking finally plucked up the courage to write!

We go from Manchester on 27th july 05, was really excited... ( still am really) although a little scared now because of the awfull and persistant weather!

I have 2 boys aged 12 and 15 + hubby they are thrilled, we have booked with First choice and will stay in a villa (1st time!!!) in kissimee.

Post again soon for lots of advice and help!

We have simons book and its fantastic x

Sharon Welcome to the DIS

Great to see you have joined us here :) You will have loads of fun planning your trip.

Don't forget to join us over on the UK Community Board too, add your name to the holiday and birthday charts and if you like we would love for you to join us on our quiz threads :)

We have chat tonight at 7pm - look out for the thread!

Hi Sharon :wave2:

Welcome! You will get allsorts of advice for your trip here. Never be afraid to ask a question...we are all here to help!

A villa is a great choice. We have had several now, and have another booked at Xmas. You have so much freedom and with older children like yours, you will be glad of the space!! Your own pool is also amazing....sometimes its hard to leave it and get to the parks!

Dont worry too much about the weather. Be prepared...it will almost certainly rain / thunderstorm early afternoon most days, but keep your ponchos handy and you can get through tons of rides while a lot of people leave the parks!! Also, a big plus of going in July is that the parks are open very late, so you can make the most of those long light evenings.

We did July last year, and only Magic Kingdom was ever VERY VERY busy. Even that was managable early on or on its "non busy days"...see Simon's book for tips on what parks are busy when.

Fantastic, good for you and feel free to join in with us anytime, it all adds to the excitement. You wait, another week and you'll be hooked posting messages. You have no idea how excited I was when my posts turned me to veteran (sorry, I'm rambling). Anyway, if you need to know something, someone here always knows. Enjoy and welcome
Claire

By the way, we're staying in a timeshare villa off-site. I think I might need a bank loan to stay in a disney resort. Oh to dream!

Hi Sharon

A big Disney welcome to you and your family :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :thewave:

As had been said, providing of course that there isnt a hurricane, there will be a daily thunderstorm in the afternoon but you can practically set your watch by them so eventually they become quite useful for a rest or a ride with short lines! :sunny:

Welcome Sharon

WE've visited WDW twice now & both times stayed in a villa, a good choice in my opinion.

Our 3 are older like yours, 17, 14 & 12 & we wouldn't entertain an hotel till we stop holidaying with them. Having your own pool is a god send.

Both times I've taken cheap pool toys bought from £1 shops eg water balls &frisbees to help keep them entertained. We then leave them at the villa.

I also take a supply of persil tablets &wash whilst I'm there. Its great bringing home cases of clean clothes.

Do you Know where your villa is?

Do ask any questions you may have.

Hi Sharon,

A villa is by far the best choice with the ages of your boys I think::yes::

They will love having their own pool:tongue:

Hello :wave2: and welcome to the boards :)

We're looking forward to sharing your trip planning for next year!

Thank you all sooooooo much for the replies. I really am so excited i keep looking at all the different ticket operators comparing prices, reading trip reports i think i'm becoming obsesed!

I plan on writing an itinary so help needed with that later on... roll on next july!

Also thinking of discovery cove that looks amazing.

post soon + thanx xx

Hi Sharon

Welcome! They are a helpful bunch round here so you're in good hands!

Yep Discovery Cove looks fab - will be able to tell you all about it after trip in November. We have the planning dvd and I get excited watching that!

If you are interested it is free and also covers Sea World and Busch Gardens

www.busch-gardens.co.uk/promotion/VideoRequest.asp

There is also a free Disney video but I've just looked for the link and the 'offer is closed'

I believe there is also on planning video for Universal Studios but I have never managed to get hold of a copy

Other than that sit back, relax and read the trip reports and posts here and soak up the information and ask questions

Have fun planning

Jo

:sunny: :sunny:I can't get the link to open from here but it does if you cut and paste it into the address bar!

Welcome on board!

I have to say, don't worry at all about the thunderstorms. Trust me, you'll be grateful for them as they clear the air. One day it didn't storm in the afternoon and the MK was unbearable all evening!

Enjoy.

Hi - welcome to the boards! Warning - you my get addicted!

Not sure whether your budget will stretch to it - but you might want to consider booking one night at a Universal hotel. I'm sure you could put up with one large room for one night. The benefit of getting 'front of line' access to rides for 2 whole days at the Universal parks is fantastic - especially during the peak periods. The boys would probably love the Hard Rock Hotel.

We went to Royal Pacfic Resort last time - and have booked for Portofino Bay next time. It's great - you just pack an overnight bag - leaving all your stuff at the villa.

Highly recommended.

Julie
