I'm new at this, be gentle(Dining Review) COMPLETED

I know that many of you have posted, and posted, and posted pictures about 'Ohana, so I didn't take any. I will tell you about our experience, though.

Firstly we showed up early, and were seated promptly(within 5 minutes). It was just enough time to get a tasty beverage from the bar. We had a great six top over by the far right window. I hate being in the middle of everything, and this table was perfect for me.

Salad and bread were tasty. They didn't give us any butter...weird. My husband could not get enough of the wings....my God he is still talking about those suckers...soooo good. The dumplings were good, but a bit dry. The noodles I didn't care for...too mushy. The broccoli was DIVINE. The seasoning on it made me smile, and smile, and smile.

The chicken was AWESOME. The only person at the table who actually liked the pork was my sister...it was dry and tasteless. My steak was a PERFECT medium rare. I loved it. My sisters was too well done...I guess it all depends on the skewer it comes out on.

BREAD PUDDING...how I love you! No one else in my family likes bread pudding, yet they all devoured it...it was that good!

All in all...a very good meal. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea..but it was definitely my family's!

Loving your review so far, girl! Aren't you fancy!?

I have eaten at all of these places so far and have to agree... on a whole they all get a big MEH in my book. I was so sad the last time I had Tonga Toast... when did they start putting that strawberry compote on it??

And Boardwalk Bakery...boo!

Can't wait for the rest!! popcorn::

Love you, girl! Thanks for the shout!

It was a late night in the MK last night. There were extra magic hours until 3am, and I think we stayed until 2:30. Is there anything better than being in MK late into the morning??? It brings me back to my teen years...

We didn't wake up until 10am, and most of the adults just made and drank coffee. I think I finally polished off the chocolate/peanut butter cupcake from Boardwalk Bakery...mmmmm...so good.

By the time we got to the park, it was 12. We rushed to get a fast pass for RnR, and then hit up Catalina Eddies and Rosie's All American.

Half of my family wanted burgers again(and I can't figure out why) and the other half was DONE with burgers already! lol

Me--Hot Italian Deli Sandwich
-- with Caesar Salad $8.69 with a Dasani H2O and carrot cake.

Can I just say this was my FAVORITE lunch of the trip! Honestly...that hot Italian sandwich(hot in temp, not spice) was the BEST. There was an olive oil spread on it that was divine. The carrot cake was the typical pre packaged one...I actually think I have a picture somewhere...

DMother--Caesar Salad with Chicken $7.79 with H2O and carrot cake. She LOVED it. Weird...she loves nothing. Of course she had it without dressing and as dry as can be...but to each her own, I guess.

DNiece---Kids Cheese Pizza $4.99 with carrots and a cookie...she loved the pizza and hated the cookie...pre-packaged and dry

DH, DNephew, DSister---1/3 Lb Angus Onion Straw Cheddar Cheeseburger - topped with vine-ripened tomato sliced pickle, lettuce, and house spread, with coleslaw or fries $9.29

They all had H2O and carrot cake. They claimed this burger was much better than the Pecos Bills one...I don't know..looked the same to me! :confused3:confused3:confused3

Up next....Mama Melrose.....mmmmmmmmmm

We had ADR's at 6:15, and per usual we were early. I think we checked in at 6:00 and were seated relatively quickly. I know not everyone loves MM's, but I think the ambiance and location are great. It's kind of tucked away in the back of HS and inside it just makes me smile. We had a six top, half booth and half chairs. Our server, Chris, was like a slug. He could barely get out of his own way, and he was slooooooooow....doing everything. It was kind of tragic!

My DH and I were going to pay out of pocket for this one since we were having a special date night dinner at the end of the week at Citricos. I looked at the menus and this looked like the least expensive out of pocket...

Me--started off with calamari. I was dying for it. Um...I love me some calamari, and this wasn't great. It was really rubbery...not fresh or delicious. Also the marinara was too watery!
044-1.jpg

I then went on to Grilled Chicken Flatbread - with Sun-dried Tomato Pesto, Pancetta, Asiago Cheese, and fresh Chives $12.99
045-1.jpg
Sorry the picture is kind of blurry, but holy hell this was DELICIOUS! This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. There was something about the sun-dried Tomato Pesto that was so deliciously tangy. I totally WON! I also had unsweetened iced tea and no dessert.

DH--He had beer. He tried the Yinling...God only knows if I spelled that right! lol He also had a mamas margarita
042-1.jpg
I just want to say that there was too much ice in it. He was done in two sips, and for the amount they charge for these suckers, there should be more booze and less ice. If you order it, make sure you ask for LIGHT ice or ice on the side! He then had the chicken parmigiana. He thinks he won, but he totally didn't.
047-1.jpg
He is a chicken parm connoisseur, or so he likes to act like one. He said it was good...a little dry but good. He also had NO dessert.

Dmom--she had the same thing but with the sauce on the side. She had the chocolate amarettini for dessert though.
052-1.jpg
I had a bite...it was okay...nothing too awesome for me.

Dsis--she had Chicken Pipette Wood-grilled Chicken - over Pipette Pasta tossed with Artichokes, Peas, Roasted Peppers, and Sweet Onions in a Basil Four-Cheese Cream Sauce $17.99
049-1.jpg
She loved it, I tried some...meh..it was okay. For dessert she also had
051-1.jpg
She also had a key lime pie martini
043-1.jpg

DNephew--he had Spaghetti con Vongole - Sauteed Clams and Pancetta tossed with Spaghetti and White Clam Sauce $19.99
048-1.jpg
He was trying all kinds of seafood on this trip, weird cause we're from cape cod where he never eats it. He didn't love it. It's an acquired taste, a clam sauce. He drank a coke and his mother made him get vanilla gelato, which he hated.
050-1.jpg

DNiece--she had the kids pizza, sprite, salad, and gelato sundae. She LOVED it all and ate every bit...she's a champ!
046-1.jpg
053-1.jpg

The Good---
Well let's just admit it...I won. My pizza was AMAZING! If you're a vegetarian, I be they'd do it without the chicken and pancetta just so you could have the sun dried tomato pesto.

The Bad---
The Margarita left a lot to be desired as did the calamari...

The Ugly---
Our freakin server. It was a trend the entire week that when it came time for the bill(and the tip which is weird) all of our servers disappeared. We sat at the table, each night, and waited no less than 15 minutes for the server to come and take the bill and run our card. It was very annoying. I'm not much of a linger-er, so when I'm done I'm done. I was beyond annoyed by this! Oh well...I was still in Disney, and if that's my biggest gripe...hoooo rah!:rotfl2:

We love calamari too but the one at MM is just horrible. We have had it three times over the last 5 years and each time it is gross

Tonys in MK has the best calamari ever!

Darn...we didn't try Tonys this time. I honestly was dying for some good calamari, and did NOT enjoy it.

On a side note...you are one of the reasons I'm doing dining reviews...I LOVED your reviews. You're my 'dis'piration! :rotfl:

Not that anyone is reading these anymore...but...

So we got up really early and made our way to Animal Kingdom. Got our EE fastpasses and then got on the safari. By the time we had that done and watched "It's Tough to be a Bug", it was 11:30. We had EE fastpasses for 12:30, so we figured we'd do Yak and Yeti counterservice. I had heard both good and bad, so I was hopeful.

It was the HOTTEST day of all. It was 93 degrees and HUMID! I didn't want anything hot, so although my family had sweet and sour chicken, my sister and I wanted a cold sandwich....BIG MISTAKE!

The sweet and sour chicken was pretty good. It was neat, both aesthetically and cleanly because it was in a chinese food take out container. We all had waters and frozen lemonades as dessert. It was a GREAT option on such a hot day, and it wasn't the typical chocolate or carrot cake.

The Asian chicken sandwich, was for my tastes, the WORST thing I ate on my trip. I am not a mayonaisse based person, and it was all mayo based cole slaw on top. It turned my stomach not only when I first ate it, but then when I went on EE it made a return trip once I got off the ride. I dont' know if it was just too hot or if the ride just affected me, but I haven't vomited from food in years. It was not a pleasant day.

Our hopes were for our 7:10 adr at Les Chefs. Let's just say our hopes were dashed quickly. My husband and I went over early and had a delicious Grey Goose citron slushie...now this thing is AMAZING. I know I've heard people rave about it, but I had no idea what I was missing. It was sooo hot that day that this was amazing.
slushie.jpg

Well after that joy, we checked in early for our ADR. We waited for about 15 minutes and then were ushered into the bustling, busy restaurant. It felt as though we were being brought to the back, but apparently we were being brought to the front of the restaurant. Right next to the 'other door' closest to Morrocco. WE were right next to the dessert bar. Normally this would have been excellent, but it was just bleh. The tables were jammed together and our waiter couldn't have cared less about us. He was too busy chasing one of the pretty bus girls around. They were flirting like they were at a middle school dance. Now I'm not one to c block anyone, but can a gal get some water?? We barely saw him and when we did, he was so apathetic that it made the entire experience terrible.

The food:

Being on the basic plan, we all had just an entree and dessert. We started off with French baquettes in paper bags..cute, but not great. We couldn't seem to get our waiter to fill our water glasses or once he did get us any lemon...chasing tail again! lol Once we finally got our entrees there were mixed reviews. Here's what it was

Me and DNephew: Brochette de fruits de mer aux herbes - sauteed scallops, mahi mahi, and black tiger shrimp served with Mediterranean herb coulis, grilled tomato and black pearl rice $30.95

This actually was pretty good. I enjoyed it. He thought it was great too. But it was a bit cold. It was moot to try to send it back since we waited for an hour to get our food.
062.jpg

DH: Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts - Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans $34.95. He didn't love this. He said, 'eh, it's steak'. And for a man who LOVES steak, that's not a glowing recommendation!
061.jpg

DM: Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates - Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms $28.95 She said, 'meh, it tastes like crockpotted pot roast. Again..not a glowing review.
063.jpg

DNiece: She had the kid's salmon. She loved it.
064.jpg

For some reason..I can't remember what the hell my sister had! It's been too long.

HEre are the desserts, and NONE of them tasted good. WE left them all with just two bites out of them:

The crepe Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes - Crepes filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce $7.25 [
069.jpg

Profiteroles: Profiteroles au chocolat - Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce $7.25
066.jpg

Creme Brulee - Vanilla creme brulee served with a Madeleine $7.25
065.jpg

Chocolate sorbet:
068.jpg

Some sort of chocolate cake
067.jpg

The Good: Actually my fruits of the sea was decent

The Bad: Almost all the 'other food'...especially the desserts

The Ugly: Our waitstaff...I mean I know the French are all about love, but come on brotha!

Okay..well this was a late start. I had the family up so early on Tuesday to go to Animal Kingdom that they all revolted and slept in! lol

My DH and I took off and headed to Future World. For some insane reason, I thought instead of the DELICIOUS CS there is in World Showcase, I would waste my money at the Electric Umbrella. It was revolting..no pictures needed. I had the Chicken Caesar Salad. The chicken was spongy and the who thing was limp and gross. The Dasani water was good! :rotfl2: My DH had the usual...cheeseburger. It was even bad. The only good thing was a strawberry cheesecake. It was actually delicious for a premade dessert.

We then moved on and had a delicious margarita!
strawberry.jpg
It was SOOOO stinking hot that this was DELICIOUS!

We then moved on to Germany. Oh Karamel Kuche...I love you! We both bought cupcakes with caramel on them...we carried them back to the Boardwalk. Let's just say that the icing melted off the sucker..that's how stinkin hot it was. So we had to throw them away. I then bought this lovely
Mickeycookie.jpg
IT WAS a sugar cookie..sorry I couldn't wait..I'm bad, I know! :)

Dinner was a whole different experience. We were going to go to Raglan Road. Here's the problem with Disney. They only had ONE bus to get there. We had 7:15pm reservations and we got to the bus stop at 5:45pm. LEt's just say that the bus didn't show up until 7:00pm. It was PACKED! Thank goodness the driver let us on. WE got to Raglan Road AT 7:18. There was TWO HOUR WAIT! They had no problem and sat us within five minutes. This was one of our FAVORITE meals. Although it was loud in there and our waitress was quiet. Other than that it was great. We started off with an app: Kinky Crab - Kilmore Quay crab spring rolls served with a sweet chili jam $9 There were 3 of them on the plate. HEre is one
076.jpg
They had an odd taste. IT was whatever green was in them. It wasn't great, but the rest was.

Me: I started off with a grey goose and cranberry cause mama needed a drink after that bus ride!
072.jpg
I had the Raglan Risotto - Risotto with shiitake mushrooms, garden peas, shaved parmesan, and rocket lettuce. $15 with chicken This was SOOO good. The risotto was creamy and delish
077.jpg

DH: Here's my handsome husband with his Guinness...he's shamelss! ;)
070.jpg
My husband claimed that he won cause his was sooo delish! Keen Eye for the Shepherds Pie - We give the traditional shepherd's pie a little makeover with our contemporary twist to this favorite dish $18
081.jpg
I tried some. I guess I would agree he won. I don't like to agree to that!

DNephew: He had some sort of scallop special. He TOTALLY WON! If they have the scallop special when you go...GET IT!
078.jpg
The potatoes were AWESOME.

DMother and DNiece: They had fish and chips.. For picky ladies..they loved it too:
080.jpg
We have fish and chips all the time here on cape cod, and this was right up there!

DSister: Serious Steak - 10 oz sirloin topped with Irish whiskey marmalade glaze, with fresh basil oil, mashed potatoes, and topped with crispy fried onion strings $27
082.jpg
I don't eat steak, but it was good.

Now on to the even better stuff...I think we tried almost EVERY DESSERT THEY HAD! lol It's the glory of traveling with five other people. We passed them around like a clock. We tried it all! :thumbsup2

Strawberry & Apple Crumble - fFresh strawberries and apples in a tart with berry compote and vanilla bean ice cream $8 No picture..but SOOO good!

Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding - Like no other pudding you have ever tried. Believe us $8 I had this and it was to DIE for!
088.jpg

Bailey's Brulé Tart - Créme Brulé, Irish style $8
087.jpg
It says creme brule..but it's really a pie. I thought it was tasty!

My sister and husband had Irish coffee and another type..I don't remember, but I remember they had booze in em! lol Look at their faces!
085.jpg

Trifle Sinful - kitchen baked Swiss roll, Gran Marnier, berries, custard and cream $8d
086.jpg
I didn't care for this...just sayin!

Dunbrody Kiss - Chef Dundon's gift to America. Chocolate. Add chocolate. Then add some more. With us? $8

The Good: The food! Also the entertainment was awesome! Here's a picture of an Irish stepper!
074.jpg

The Bad: The crab appetizer. I don't want to say anything too bad..but it had a distinct strange taste...we all agreed. Very bitter!

The Ugly: The bus service. If you are paying the rates they get for a Vacation Club at the Boardwalk, they can afford more than one bus for The Yacht/Beach, Swan/Dolphin, and Boardwalk to share...Come on Disney! :sad2:

I'm still reading! thanks for the honest reviews. I've never been impressed with Chefs although I had a great meal in May upstairs at Bistro de Paris.

Jill in CO

Thanks ladies...I enjoy writing them..I have three days left to review...they'll be coming soon! It makes me want to go back though!

We woke up early this morning and rushed over to DHS...we had YET to make it on Toy Story Mania..and I was damned if we would miss it again. We'd never been on, and I was dying. So we jumped on the boat from Boardwalk and made it there. We decided to eat breakfast at Starring Rolls. I couldn't wait to dive into a cupcake...then when I got to the front, I couldn't pull the trigger cause it was so hot out, and we did have an issue with a cupcake from Karamel Kuche, so I went with the chocolate croissant and chocolate milk...I will let you know..it was the BEST chocolate croissant on property, outside of France in WS. The rest of my family had basic continental breakfast..nothing too special.

When it came to lunch, my husband and I decided to try the ESPN Zone. It was different. Dark and very sports bar-ish. We had a couple of beers and my husband had the Southwest burger, he just let me know it was 'ok'. I had the cuban burger..I would have to say there was too much stuff on it. The bartender was a bit...um...brash...so when she wasn't looking I pilfered some disney drink napkins. Let's just say that if you came to my house right now, I would serve you an iced tea on a WDW napkin! :cool1:

Dinner...Chef Mickeys was the choice for the kids. They were dying to see the characters and they had no patience to wait in lines in the park. We had an ADR at 7:10. We got there EARLY..at maybe 6:30. They took up IMMEDIATELY. We waited for NOTHING this trip when it came to restaurants..we were pretty psyched. We started with the family photo
102.jpg

We then were seated to the right in a kind of private section when you first walk in. For our luck, we were bombarded with the FAB FIVE! They were all there. It was a mad dash for pictures, and then on to the eats. My sister and I had fancy drinks...they were GREAT! I can't tell you what they were, but they were good. I swear one of them was a Bahama Mama..here they are
111.jpg

109.jpg

It was standard buffet fare...nothing too great, but not as bad as I was expecting. I will tell you all a secret..come close...there is a cold seafood salad that is AMAZING. I eat seafood off the boat all the time, and this sucker was AWESOME. I have a plate or so to look at...nothing jawdropping
108.jpg
Note seafood salad on top of plate..wish I had more
124.jpg
THat chicken was GOOD...

Now the desserts:
125.jpg

126.jpg

The Good: oh chocolate croissant..I am dreaming/drooling of you as we speak.

The Bad: The waitress at ESPN :)

The Ugly...nothing really..oh except me when I didn't get a cupcake from Starring Rolls :rotfl2:

We started off slow today. Well..I'll be honest..we got DRUNK at Leaping Horse Libations and swam. It was so hot, it was a welcomed relief. For lunch we had NOTHING good. Just gross turkey sandwiches from the bar. Now dinner on the other hand...woooo. DH and I broke off from the herd and had a special dinner at Citricos. We paid oop at Mama Melrose so we could eat up on the dining plan.

142.jpg

141-Copy.jpg

I don't know what I was expecting, but it was nothing like I thought it would be. We were seated kind of secluded but right near the window. We could see the GF pool and the monorail. I think I could kind of see the castle. Our waiter was WADE. This man could be considered the BEST SERVER EVER. He was kind, and gracious, and went out of his way for us. He was my hero. We really bonded. He gave us his honest suggestions and just went above and beyond. Here is the menu
143.jpg

144.jpg

I started off with a fancy drink. It was delicious, but come to find out it wasn't what I ordered which we found out when I ordered a second one. lol I waited so long to write this that I forgot what it was..but it was fizzy and had pomegranite.
145.jpg

I began with the Dis'ers fave..gateau of crab..this sucker was amazing..and I WON!!
146.jpg

It was creamy and crabby and not at all like a regular crabcake...BETTER!

Hubs had the risotto balls. He thinks his was best..but not like the gateau
147.jpg

For dinner I had the chicken...the lemon thyme broth was just divine.
148.jpg

I honestly would have licked the plate clean if possible.

Hubs had Veal Shank..and he still can't stop talking about it..he just said again...*drool* 'it was amazing'. lol
149.jpg

For dessert I had a beautiful chocolate banana torte..it was amazing..I even ate the decorations *whoopsie*
150.jpg

My husband is a cheesecake fanatic..he loved it too:
151.jpg

We ended the meal with coffe(him) and a press pot of peppermint tea(me). It settled my stomach from the hurtin I just put on it.

We then took the monorail to the Polynesian and walked to the beach to watch the Fireworks...such a perfectly romantic night.

The Good: Citricos

The Bad: Libations food

The Ugly: my sunburn :rotfl2:

My husband was bound and determined to go on Soarin...I couldn't have cared less since I get motion sick and I knew I'd blow red, white and blue. Hubs took my niece and nephew on the ride and my sister, mom and I went on The Land. I haven't been on that ride since the 1990's and I'll just say it was great. I really enjoyed it. Since we were there at Sunshine Seasons, we figured why not.

I had the sweet and sour chicken
157.jpg

I also had the chocolate cake...mmmmm...chocolate! :)
chocolatemoussecake.jpg

My darling sister also had the sweet and sour chicken but she had an apple caramel dessert...look into it kids...sooo worth it!
applecarameldessert.jpg

By the 8th day of the vacation..I couldn't have cared less what anyone else ate or did. I had been the secretary, cheerleader, and tourguide and mama needed a vacation. I wished I could have stayed for another week with the hubs and sent everyone else home! :cool1:

Germany
165.jpg

Raglan Road:

Strawberry and Apple crumble(not good)
090.jpg

Dunbrody's Kiss(oh chocolate...I think you should be a food group)
089.jpg

Kid's Vanilla ice cream
091-Copy.jpg

So that's it. My first dining review is done. I wasn't even that nervous taking pictures and looking like a lunatic. My family loved to do it and made me get the camera before they would dig in.

What would I do again:
Citricos(wouldn't hesitate one iota)
Raglan Road(good)
'Ohana(wiiiiiings)
Kona(TONGA)
Mama Melrose(sue me..I love it)

What I won't do:
Wave(I forgot to mention the fam ate there when we went to Citricos..it was so bad, they barely ate, paid, and walked out)

Chef Mickeys(unless I have kids)
Yak& Yeti(or Animal Kingdom for that matter)
Les Chefs(wouldn't waste me time again..go to Tutto instead:)
