Last August when we were visiting WDW, we were at MGM and my Aunt and I were chosen to be part of the Backlot Tour Water Demonstration thingy (You know the first thing you do before you go to the tram) We were so excited until they told us that there was a chance of rain and lightning, and with the electricity and explosives and stuff that we might not be able to do it. Well, it turns out that the show was cancelled and they gave us a verbal rain check and said when we came back all we had to do was find a CM and inform them. It was a bummer becasue it was our last day in Florida so we weren't coming back for a while. They then told us that next summer if we came back we could still be a part of the Backlot Tour, so that kind of brightened our day. So, later on when we were planning our summer 2004 trip, that was on the top of our list until I just recently found out that Backlot Tour is gone. I LOVED THAT!! Now I'm bummed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

The Backlot Tour is in MGM and not Epcot. I believe it is still up and running, but they have changed the tram route due to the new construction of the auto stunt show. Hope this helps.

I'm going crazy!! I was thinking about Epcot while I was typing!! I know that Backlot Tour is in MGM!! Are you sure it's still there??

It doesn't appear on the rehab list, so I believe it's still running.

Yes it is still there. It was the walking tour they did away with, not that one.

It was closed down recently, but only for rehab. It wasn't running when we were there last month-- but it was a scheduled closing.

It's been closed for a couple of months while they worked on the new auto stunt show. The latest I saw said it was going to reopen on April 4th...TODAY!! Break a leg!!

and there was someone posted outside the entrance stating that it was opening back up today.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to do the demostration back in October. Yes, I had a blast and my DH got to watch as part of the audience. He videotaped the whole thing. What a great item to keep as a memory. So if you do go back and get to do the demonstration dont forget to have someone video tape it.

As of this morning (we just got back tonight ) it was still down. I asked a CM and they said they werent sure when it would be up again. We headed back there today to try and catch it before we left...
