How can I say that?

Several reasons

1. It was amild one. only my right leg and arm were affected. Nothing else. I didn't lose feeling. The speech therapest just said that 99 percent of those she has seen who had a stroke on the left side are hit with many complication. She said someone upstairs is looking out for me.. I had the stroke may 17th and am already walking with a brace and cane.

The other reason I'm lucky is that it could have been a heart attack. because of the stroke it was discovered I need triple by pass surgery. I have that july 13th

All prayers will be gladly accepted.

 Wow! You *are* lucky! My Dad has had a couple of mini-strokes due to some blockage in his neck arteries; he has to plan surgery as well.

Good luck to you!

So happy (?) for you, and that you will be able to get repaired.
keep up the great outlook and we will all pull for you. :grouphug:

What a great way to look at a truly scary situation. :worship::worship:

Prayers and pixie dust for a long and healthy future.

You have a great attitude. :goodvibes I wish you the best in your recovery and upcoming surgery. Keep us updated.

Yikes, close call Manning! Good luck with the bypass.:)

Well what an inspiration you are...so many people would have taken a Why Me attitude....God Bless you and I will pray for you on that day also

With your positive (and somewhat humorous) attitude - I'm sure you'll come through with flying colors!

Prayers for your surgery and a speedy recovery!

Sometimes it takes a potentially life threating medical event to save your life. Glad you are still around and doing well and blessings that your triple bypass is a success.

My FIL had triple bypass a few years ago and by all accounts is doing quite well. He has followed all the advice from docs and walks daily and eats in moderation.

Manning, the clue phone rang and you picked it up. GOOD FOR YOU!

Good luck! Sounds like it's time to go Vegan. :cool2:

Good thoughts have been sent your way!

What are the symptoms/signs of your stroke? You always hear that there are some, but I haven't heard from anyone who has actually had a stroke.

they have a habit of being a wake up call don't they?

another right sider here (2 x), and as far as mobility-the only time you can tell with me is when i'm either extreemly tired or having a severe migrane (then that right sided weakness seems to act up a bit).

if you're working with a speech therapist i'm guessing you suffered some aphasia-how's that going for you? again with mine-it only realy acts up with excessive tiredness or a migrane. i figure it's my body reminding me to take care of it.

take care, stick with the therapy-but get some rest (don't know about you, but a stroke was the single most exhausting event my body has ever gone through-and that includes labors of over 28 hours each).

Oh I'm sorry. My dad had a very mild stroke two years ago. If I hadn't been there I don't think he would have even noticed. He couldn't remember not being able to move left leg, smile drooping on left, etc. He had carotid artery surgery. But my dad was in his late 80s. I hope you are lots younger. I think I'm the oldest person on the DIS - 63.

I'm a lucky 67.
