I'm looking for a book I read in childhood...

My memory of it is very sketchy...all I remember about it is that the main character's name was possibly Katie, and her best friend was a boy named maybe Buster. The characters were about 12ish. Katie lived next door to a graveyard and in one chapter had a big Halloween party and scared the crap out of her "rival".

Does this incredibly vague description ring a bell for anyone?

I remember reading books when I was young with a character named Katie John. She was kind of a tomboy. I don't remember a Buster though. Maybe this rings a bell? You could type "katie john" into an amazon search and see what comes up...

I did find the Katie John book, and that may be it. I don't remember the "Sue" character though, but some of the description sounds very familiar.

Just teasing--I'm glad someone was able to help you out. I'm usually pretty good at books but I don't remember either reading it myself or dd reading it.

I immediately thought of Katie John too. I loved those books but I don't remember any of the other characters.
