"I'm Just Here For the Food" A Late October Dining Review Updated x 4 5/07 Now Complete

The next morning we got up bright and early for our pre-park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace. This was the one ADR that remained completely unchanged from 180 days out. Same date, same time, same place. Nicholas loves Pooh and Tigger, so we knew that this was a character meal we really had to do. I'd heard good things about breakfast and Mark loves breakfast (though neither T or I do) that we went with breakfast and I was able to snag a pre-park opening reservation, which was a bonus. This was actually our only breakfast of the trip and the only day where we ended up doing two TS meals (almost 11 hours apart though).

Before heading to the restaurant, we posed for a picture with the castle in the background. It was one of the pictures I most wanted from our trip and I'm so glad I have it. By this point it was close to ADR time, so we hurried towards Crystal Palace. I think we waited about 5 minutes before we were shown inside.

Just hanging out in front of the castle.

We were informed that we had just missed Pigglet and that we had a while before Pooh or Eyore came to the table, so we went to get food. My phone died on the way to MK and I forgot the charger in the hotel room, so no pictures of the food because Mark isn't into that. However, between the five of us, I think we tried everything. None of us were impressed with the bacon, though the sausage was ok. T and I both tried the breakfast lasangna and found it to be way too sweet. Each and everyone loved the Pooh's puffed toast, Alex still talks about it. All in all, we thought the food was very good.

Of course, the point of a character meal was the characters and I think Crystal Palace delivered. All the characters greeted my children warmly, gave them hugs and high fives. They all stayed a few minutes and we definitely got our money's worth out of them and the kids were enchanted. I would definitely go here again.

We paid for this meal OoP because on the way to MK, I managed to snag an ADR for that night and I knew of all our planned meals, Crystal Palace was the least expensive. It worked out to $130.

Love CP - we went there for the first time when DD was 20 months and DS 5 and been back at least once on every trip since then bar one visit when everyone declared they had outgrown character meals and then moaned at me when I didn't book CP. Not sure if we will make it next year.

After spending the morning at Magic Kingdom, we headed back to our resort. We had plans to spend the afternoon/evening at Epcot, but wanted to rest a bit first. We had originally planned on getting in some pool time but it was grey and overcast, so that was out. Once we were back at the resort, we decided to grab a quick bite at the Old Port Royale food court.

Looking back this was where we made our only real misstep of the trip. We should have either grabbed something in MK or headed to Epcot early and done more F&W. But Mark really needed a break from the crowds and hadn't appreciated our 6 a.m wake up time. But no trip is perfect and we still had a lot of fun, I just feel like we wasted good vacation time. Anyway, we all ended up getting sandwiches and then walked them back to our room.

T ended up with

Smoked Italian Sandwich: ham, salami, and smoked gouda on asiago cheese bread with house-made jerk chips

She liked this though she thought it was huge and she only finished half of it. She was not crazy about the chips though.

Mark chose the

Turkey BLT with house-made jerk chips

Mark really liked this sandwich and if we were ever staying at CBR again, he'd probably order it again. He also disliked the jerk chips.

The kids got a grilled cheese sandwich with apple wedges and grapes. No pictures, but they ate all of it and seemed happy.

That leaves me.

I chose

Lime chicken Wrap " Chicken, lime cilantro yogurt, dried papaya with house-made jerk chips

This was disgusting. The dried papaya did not go with the chicken and yogurt. I couldn't even eat half and I didn't like my chips either. Maybe this is why I thought we should have gone to Epcot.

Other than me, everyone was happy with their choices and I think we'd all eat at the food court again if we stayed at the resort.

Since we were on the DDP we also ended up with bottled drinks (in addition to our refillable mugs) and dessert. We chose 3 random desserts but never ended up eating them, so that was a bit of a waste.

We paid for this with the DDP. Out-of-pocket costs would have been around $70, but that's misleading as we would not have bought the bottled drinks (our plan had been to buy the refillable mugs whether or not we go the DDP) or dessert. I think if we had paid OoP, our total would have been around $40.

I have been awful at updates. I had this update almost done in December and then my computer crashed and I lost it and I haven’t been able to bring myself to start over and then there was holiday craziness. Plus, we got the news that we’ll have an extra traveler with us next time we go to Disney and pregnancy is taking a lot out of me. However, I’m going to try and do an update every couple days and get this review done by the end of next week.

Back to where we left off. After our less-than-satisfying lunch in our hotel room, we headed back to Epcot to wander around before dinner. That morning, on our way to Crystal Palace, I had scored a last minute reservation for Akershus because Alex had asked me a week before our trip if we were going to see some princesses. Akershus had originally been on our list, but because of the mixed reviews it gets on this site and my worry that the boys wouldn’t be into princesses, we decided to skip it. However, once A started asking for princesses, I started looking for a reservation since it was my preferred princess meal.

Our reservation was at 7:05 and we were seated within 10 minutes of that. Though, before being seated, we had to take our picture with Belle. We had seen Belle earlier that day at Enchanted Tales, so I whispered that information in her ear, and she greeted the boys by saying how nice it was to see them again. Proving that Disney is magical, T later commented “what are the odds that it was the same Belle in two different parks”. Yes, she had totally bought into the magic and hadn’t realized it wasn’t the same Belle.

Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks and went to the cold bar. I didn’t take any pictures, but this was amazing. Various salads, cheeses and types of fish. I loaded up on smoked salmon with the most delicious dill cream sauce. I still think about that wonderful cold bar.

For drinks, I was boring and ordered a diet coke, but Mark and T both had alcoholic beverages.

Mark chose the:

Magical Star Cocktail- A mix of mango and passion fruit liqueur, coconut rum, and pineapple juice
This is normally served with a glow cube, but because we were at Epcot during Food & Wine, it came in a special light-up class that we got to take home. Mark liked the drink and really liked the glass. He would order this again. I didn’t try this because I’m allergic to pineapple.

T ordered two different drinks. First, she ordered the Kristianland, which is a mix of raspberries, mango, linie Aquavit, and rum, frozen and blended. After that she chose another frozen cocktail, the Oslo. This one was a mix of strawberries, crème de banana, aquavit and vodka. She really liked both these drinks and would order them both again. I tried them both and thought they were very good.

The kids just had chocolate milk, but they ordered them in the special light up cups. Alex chose Ariel and Nicky chose Buzz Lightyear.

After we’d chosen our mains and visited the cold bar, it was time for the princesses to visit our table. It seems that Akershus they do a section of the restaurant at a time, timed to be between courses and they all come within a few minutes of each other. I preferred this to the other character meals we went to, where the characters were more spread out and we had to stop what we were doing to eat.

All the princesses were fantastic and they all made a big fuss over the boys, calling them princes, and it the boys loved the attention. Alex’s favorite princess is Snow White and he was so thrilled to see her. He still talks about how nice it was to meet the princesses, so it turns out Akershus was a good choice for us. All the princesses were great, but I have to give a special shout-out to Aurora. We had met her the previous day in France and it was the same Aurora and she remembered the boys from the previous days and picked her conversation from where she had left off. She was just really spectacular and added a bit of extra magic to the whole experience.

Ariel

Cinderella

Hugging Snow White

Nicholas was a big fan of Aurora.

Shortly after we met the princesses, our food arrived.

T ordered the

House-made potato and goat cheese ravioli served fennel leek cream and tomato jam

She really liked this. I had a bite and it was very good. She would definitely order this again.

Mark ordered the

Norwegian meatballs served with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and lingonberry sauce
He said this was good, but it was basically a classier version of the IKEA meatballs and he wasn’t sur he was worth paying close to 10x the price (though of course the cold buffet, desert and the amotsophere are also included in that price). Still, he enjoyed his meal. Not sure if he would order this again or not (except for when we’re at IKEA, of course).

I got

Pan-seared salmon served with roasted potato cake, pickled fennel slaw and aquavit cream sauce
I was originally going to order the chicken, but T reminded me that I had gotten chicken at Be Our Guest and urged me to get something different. The salmon was very, very good. I’m not a huge potato fan, but the potato cake was yummy and the cream sauce was amazing. I would happily eat this again (though If ever make it back to Akershus, I’ll probably try the chicken).

Alex ordered

Kids meatballs, served with mashed potatoes and corn.
This was not a hit. My picky eater was not impressed. He liked the corn, but that was about it.

We were able to order a meal for Nicky at no-cost and chose the kid’s pizza. Which was your basic cheese pizza. He liked it.

Desert at Akershus is served family style

Sweet and savory chocolate mousse, traditional rice cream topped with strawberry sauce and apple cake with cardamom whipped cream
We got two of these for our table of 5, but one would have been enough since we were all very stuffed. We all liked the mousse but none of us were blown away by it and Alex didn’t think it was sweet enough. I was the only one who like the rice cream, but I’m also the only one who likes rice pudding, so this wasn’t a surprise. The cake was ok, but a little dry. In the end, we all thought the deserts were fine, but nothing particularly special.

This meal came to around $295 in total. We paid with the DDP and ended up paying $85 OoP, so the DDP covered $210. This meal was definitely pricey and I don’t know if it would have been worth it out of pocket, but with the DDP, it was a good deal and we definitely enjoyed ourselves.

Next Up: A Rainy Morning at Hollywood Studios and a pit stop before the main course

Wednesday was one of those days that just didn't seem to work in our favor. When I first made ADRs, I made a pre-park opening for H&V, partially because we were going to be signing up for Jedi Training Academy. Well, there was no JTA in October and as our trip got closer, I decided to change our ADR from breakfast to lunch, to give us more time. We still got to Hollywood Studios shortly after opening and the first thing we did was pose for a random Memory Maker picture, only to have someone crash our picture! We were apparently posing in Donald's spot and he had his handler ask if we minded him posing with us, which of course we didn't. It was the unexpected magical moments of our trip:

Probably my favorite picture from our trip.

We had some time before our first fast pass, so we decided to go on the Great Movie Ride which we really enjoyed. Sadly, things went downhill after that as we stood in line for the GMR, the rain started to come down and continued to pour most of the morning. We had fast passes for Toy Story Mania, so we did that, and we tried to run for cover after that, but we ended up soaked. This made us a little grumpy, so did a mix up about our Star Tours fast pass time. Since we had some time to kill between fast passes and several hours before lunch, we decided to grab something quick to eat and ended up at the Backlot Express.

We ordered the chicken finger and fries to split and a carrot cupcake. The serving size was huge. There was eight good-sized chicken fingers and a large basket of fries and the five of us snacked on it. Obviously, we all couldn't have shared one of these as a meal, but as a snack, it worked. The cupcake was also very good.

I think this was roughly $17, but we used a QS dining credit.

Next Up: The Worst Meal of Our Trip

As I mentioned in my last review, we made the last minute decision to change our Hollywood & Vine reservation from breakfast to lunch. I had been wary about Hollywood & Vine because it's get horrible reviews, but BOG and Akershus also get mixed reviews and we liked them both, so I decided to gamble on lunch even though breakfast is harder to ruin. By the time we made it to our reservation, it had been a pretty miserable morning thanks to the rain and N losing one of his shoes. We were all wet and cranky.

Hollywood & Vine was probably the longest wait of our trip. It took at least 25 minutes for us to be seated, which did not do anything to improve our moods. We were seated and told that we had just missed Doc McStuffins and it would probably be 10-15 minutes before a character got to us. So we took advantage to go to the buffet. I didn't really believe the reviews, but the food here was bad. Almost inedible. I tried some roast pork that was gross, even my salad was gross--all slimy. Mark complained that it was the first place that he had ever been to that ruined corn, because it was flavorless. Between the three of us we found only a few things worth eating. T and I both liked the lobster mac and cheese, but Mark thought it was too salty, we also liked the cornbread pudding and he didn't try it. Mark and T thought the rice was fine (I didn't try it) and we all liked the buns. Not a particularly success meal. Oh and T liked the fruit salad.

T's plate

green beans, cornbread pudding, rice, lobster mac & cheese, sausage and fruit salad
apparently the beans were overcooked and so was sausage.

We all agreed the food was awful--at least the main course. The deserts here were amazing. From the soft serve ice cream to the chocolate dipped fruit to the mini deserts, we didn't have a single miss. In fact, these were probably some of the best deserts of our trip. I felt a little queasy after this meal because I ended up filling up on sweets.

Plate #1:

Mini Red Velvet Cake, Mini Caramel Apple Pie, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Chocolate Dipped Marshmallow, and Banana Cream Puff

Everything here was excellent. I really liked the mini apple pie and Mark thought the banana cream puffs were amazing (still talks about them) and who doesn't like a marshmallow dipped in chocolate? They also had mini key lime pies that were very good and other chocolate dipped fruit, including pineapple.

T and I both ordered cocktails here. She ordered the Magical Star and was disappointed that hers only came with a glow cube and not a light up glass like Mark's. She enjoyed the drink though. I can't remember the naem of the drink I ordered, but it was rumchata and fireball and it was very strong, but I like the taste of fireball, and thought it was good.

Other than desert, the food was bad, but the food wasn't why we had chosen the restaurant. We had come for the characters and my kids had a blast. They were thrilled to meet some of their favorites and Alex enjoyed participating in the little dance party they held every 20 minutes or so. It took a while for us to see all the characters, over an hour, but the joy on the kids' faces made it worth it.

I sincerely hope I never have to eat at Hollywood & Vine ever again, though if I do, I'll probably choose breakfast instead. It was really not good. Definitely the worst meal of our trip. Unfortunately, the rain, the cranky child and the bad meal gave us all a pretty negative impression of Hollywood Studios, which we all agreed was our least favorite park.

This meal was around $150 all together including tip. I think we spent $40 or so OoP, meaning the DDP covered $110. I was really glad to have the DDP here, because I would have had a hard time paying so much for such a terrible meal.

Next Up: Our Party Splits Up

Hi there! I'm hoping to follow along too.

Great start with the BOG review!

Thanks! Sorry, I've been so sporadic! BOG was amazing.

Following along...we have not yet been able to secore dinner reservations for BOG...though it looks wonderful!

It really was. We were originally going to do lunch, but I'm glad we managed dinner. I hope you can try it out soon!

Great start - looking forward to the rest of your reviews and hopefully more cute outfits. :)

Thank you! Those were the only group outfits, but I tried to dress at least one of the kids in appropriate outfits every day. I had intended for my husband and I to both wear Star Wars shirts on our DHS day, but he wouldn't go along with it.

Looking forward to more of your reviews.

Thank you! Sorry it's taken me so long to finish.

Love! Waiting for more!

Thank you! I know I've been slow, but life has been crazy.

Love CP - we went there for the first time when DD was 20 months and DS 5 and been back at least once on every trip since then bar one visit when everyone declared they had outgrown character meals and then moaned at me when I didn't book CP. Not sure if we will make it next year.

CP was fantastic. The food was great and so were the characters and I liked getting there before the park was open and then having a relaxing breakfast. I doubt we'll do it again next trip though, at least not breakfast since neither my mom or I are big breakfast eaters and there are other places I want to try. But I hope to eat there again some day in the future.

CP is our #1 Favorite!! Glad you enjoyed it!

It was great! The puffed french toast is amazing and it was just such a fun experience.

After our lunch at Hollywood & Vine, we decided to head back to the hotel and change out of our damp clothes, but also enjoy the sunshine and have some time in the pool. I'd made an Open Table reservation for Disney Springs that evening, but after our swim, we decided to change our plans. T and the boys ended up picking up QS pizza, while Mark and I decided to head to MK to take advantage of EMH and have some adult time.

T got the pizza from the food court at Old Port Royale and we just walked it back to our room. It was 2 QS credits and came with two drinks and two deserts. We grabbed chocolate milks for the boys for our drinks since T had just refilled her refillable mug and instead of more cake we weren't going to eat, we grabbed two mickey rice krispie treats, which got eaten on the way home. No pictures of this. It was just a plain pepperoni pizza. T said it was decent, not great, but on par with chain pizza, though Alex wouldn't touch it and he mostly snacked. T had a couple slices and Nicky had one and the rest ended up getting thrown out, because a full pizza is really too much for one adult and two small children.

While T was proving what an amazing friend she was by entertaining my children for the evening, Mark and I headed to MK. It was nice to not have to deal with the stroller. We walked around, steered clear of Fantasyland since we'd spent most of our previous visits there, and took in some rides. When we got hungry, we headed to Columbia Harbor House.

Mark ordered Battered Fish Plate, which came with french fries. I ordered the Lobster Roll, which was served with potato chips and coleslaw. For desert, Mark chose the chocolate cake and I went with the seasonal cobbler (peach).

Mark was not a fan. He said the fish was too greasy and the chocolate cake was not good. He ate it all, but wouldn't be in a hurry to eat at Columbia Harbour House again. I thought my lobster roll was good, though as a disclaimer my own previous experience with a lobster roll had a "Mc" in front of it. Still, it was what I expected and the cobbler was very good. It was still warm and it had a right balance of fright and sweetness. I was actually very happy with my meal and would eat there again.

After we ate, we headed to the Haunted Mansion and crossed an item off my childhood bucket list. I've been wanting to go that particular ride since I was a little girl reading the Baby Sitters Club books, since it is mentioned on several occasions, and I'm happy to report it lived up to my expectations. We did a few more rides and then realized we were both exhausted (we had been up since 6 a.m) and headed back to our resort, where we found our children sleeping peacefully and T reading happily.

The two meals at Columbia Harbour House and the pizza would have come to around $65 OoP and were completely covered by the DDP.

Next Up: Our Day at Animal Kingdom

the boys look like they are having great fun! Thanks for sharing your report - I have biergarten on my wish list!

Nice to have you back with more reviews! I am amazed that a place like H&V and get consistently bad reviews and Disney not do anything about it.

I am fashionably late, but all caught up. Everything looks great so far, except of course for H&V. We've done breakfast here and while not horrible, it's pretty darn hard to mess up breakfast IMO, that's about all I have to say.

Great review! I love Hollywood Studios, but we had a similar bad experience one of the days we went. Other than the rain - we did have amazing weather. But my son had a major meltdown and we did not enjoy Hollywood and Vine. I think ours was more an issue with our moods, but really - it wasn't amazing.

We loved Biergarten. As of now it's the only repeat on the list for next time, mostly because I think my mom (who is 1/2 German) will love it. It such a fun restaurant and we really enjoyed the food.

Nice to have you back with more reviews! I am amazed that a place like H&V and get consistently bad reviews and Disney not do anything about it.

I think it's because it's always full. The character interaction was really amazing, so I can see why people would go back. Plus the desserts were fantastic. If I were ever to go back, I'd either do breakfast or grab QS beforehand and plan on just eating dessert (and really it's similarly priced to a dessert party with characters as the feature instead of fireworks).

Welcome! We really should have stuck with breakfast, I don't know what I was thinking. A friend is pretty sure she'll be going there on her trip because her kids love the Disney Jr. characters and I've recommended breakfast.

Yeah, we all think our impression had more to do with our moods and the weather than the park itself and hopefully next time we'll have a better experience. Star Tours and the Great Movie Ride were amongst my favorite rides of the trip.

a cousin was in H and V on Saturday and they had dinner there..and enjoyed it..they have two boys..one 3 and one 5 ...the two adults said that lobster mc and cheese was very good..I hope that it was just a bad day for you all...thanks for picking up your reviews and carrying on..

I realized the other day that we've been back for more than 6 months and that it's time for me to finish this report. Eek. So I'm going to pound through the last 3 meals.

I originally had a BOG breakfast ADR scheduled for Thursday with a plan of moving over to AK in the afternoon, but T and Mark vetoed that adn we chose to spend the whole day at AK, which turned out to be a wise decision because we all loved the park.

Ready to start our AK day!

We went on several rides, did the Safari and the Lion King show (amazing!) and did the walking tour and we still didn't get to see enough. We didn't end up going into the Dinosaur area, so that'll be on the list for next trip.

No pictures of our meal this time. We got hungry around noon and decided to grab food at Harambe market. T, the boys and I split two sausages which came with a roasted broccoli and tomato salad and African milk tart (coconut custard in a chocolate tart shell dusted with sugar and five spice powder then drizzled with dark chocolate ganache) for dessert. The sausages were good and very filling, very easy to split in half (at least when you're sharing with a small child) and the milk tart was probably the best QS dessert we had all week. We also liked the salad. We would eat here again. Mark got the ribs which came with a green papaya-carrot slaw and a chickpea, cucumber and tomato salad and dessert and he loved his ribs, but I thought they had a weird flavor to them. He'd get them again, I wouldn't. He also agreed with T and I that the milk tart was excellent.

T also ran over and got an alcoholic beverage during lunch, but I can't remember what she got. All I know is that it came in an African Mask tumbler that she got to keep and that she loved it.

This would have could to around $50 OoP and was completely covered by the DDP.

We stayed at AK until close to park close and then we headed over to AKL for our final TS reservation and one that T and I had been looking forward to: Boma!

By this point, I had given up taking pictures (sorry). Plus, since I don't take pictures of the stations, I find buffets hard. I know that we all ate a bunch of everything. Well, most of us. Poor Alex went up to the buffet with T and walked through all the stations and went "no, no, no, I'm not eating that" and had an empty plate when he was done and looked at her and said "my plate is empty, I have no food". Poor kid. He ended up eating bread and a piece of chicken with the skin taken off. Oh and lots of desserts, but we'll get to that in a moment. So, if you have a picky eater, I don't think I'd recommend Boma.

Nicky on the other hand, wanted a bit of everything and ate it all (well he didn't try any soup, but mostly because of the mess factor, I'm sure he would have been game). The adults all loved Boma too. The squash soup was amazing, all the soups were. Everything I tried was fantastic. I'm hoping to eat at Boma again on my next trip, but I'll leave Mr. Picky with his equally-picky grandmother and N and I will feast (oh and T, who will likely be tagging along again).

Alex was much happier with the desserts and I liked that Boma had the most kid-friendly desserts of any of the buffets we went to including cupcakes and cookies. They had these mini pumpkin pies that T still raves about and these little pudding-cake things that Mark could have eaten a dozen of. I loved all the desserts except the guava bombe-things (this was the other incident that made T and I realize we don't like guava) and the cranberry bread pudding which was dry. Still, I would happily eat here again.

Unfortunately, my memory is starting to failing me (the problem with taking so long). I know T and Mark both ordered cocktails, but I have no idea what. I do know that neither of them had any complaints.

The final total was around $205. $155 was covered by the DDP and $50 or so OoP.

We woke up Friday with a feeling of sadness because it was time to pack up and check out and start our very long drive back home to Ontario. We returned our stroller and decided to stop in at Disney Springs to use up our remaining credits. Disney Springs without a stroller kind of sucked and I wish we had gone earlier in our trip. We were also going to grab lunch before hitting the road. We originally planed on going to Earl of Sandwich, but they were having issues with the DDP that day so we went to Wolfgang Puck Express instead.

I thought I took pictures, but I can't find them. Mark ordered the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf Sandwich and I believe this came with fries. I know it was huge and that Mark still raves about it. He only ate about half of this, but he said it was amazing. T and I shared the Pepperoni Pomodoro Pizza and again it was huge, the two of us actually couldn't finish it. It was delicious though. The boys shared the Crispy Chicken Tenders which came with fries and, again, this was a very large serving and perfect for sharing. We all really enjoyed our meals and we would definitely eat here again (and Mark would get the meatloaf again).

We got bottled drinks and chose cookies for our dessert, since we were about to hit the road.

This would have been $55 OoP and was all covered by the DDP.

Instead of doing a separate post about snacks, I'm just going to include them in my wrap-up. We weren't great at snacking the first few days and then were at a rush to use up our snack and QS credits.

Day 1: Nothing
Day 2: 3 Mickey Ice Cream Bars; Caramel corn, a chocolate caramel apple, a chocolate/caramel Rice Krispie treat from Karamel Kuche. = $29 or 3 SC and 1 QS credit
Day 3: 3 frappucinos from Starbucks plus a bottle of water and two chocolate milks= $18 or 2 QS credits
Day 4: Mickey Pretzel= $5 or 1 SC
Day 5: Mickey Pretzel, cinnamon coated almonds, jalapeno-cheddar pretzel= $13 or 3 SC
Day 6: First we got 3 frappucinos from Starbucks and then we went to Goofy's Candy Company to use up our remaining 7 SCs. We got 2 chocolate covered marshmallows (one looked like Olaf), 2 giant mickey cookies, a peanut butter cup, a chocolate caramel square, and a chocolate-covered rice Krispie treat. It all ended up being eaten on the long trip home, but we probably wouldn't have purchased them on our own. I think the total was $51 OoP, but of course we used our remaining credits.

DDP breakdown. For 3 adults and 1 child it would have cost us $1060 if we'd purchased the DDP. The DDP covered $1173 worth of food, including our refillable mugs (which we got a lot of use out of and would purchase again), but at least $65 of that we would not have spent if we were not on the DDP (the deserts at OPR and the stuff from Goofy's Candy Co.). So really it was a saving of around $50. However, it ended up being a little bit more than because between the time I paid for our trip and our arrival date, the Canadian Dollar dropped about .10 cents per American dollar, so paying out of pocket would have cost us another $110 or so. Plus we booked during Free Dining and the best room discount would have been around 50 a night, so the promotion was definitely worth it for us.

Would I do the DDP again? I think so. Especially while my kids are young and we'll be doing a lot of character meals. I would have had a hard time paying for either Akershus or Hollywood & Vine OoP. We definitely didn't maximize the plan, but we did come out ahead in the end and we really like having the mugs (we even paid OoP so Nicky got one). Next time, we'll remember to snack more as we go for sure.

Favorites:
QS: Mark- Wolfgang Puck, T- Wolfgang Puck, M- Harambe Market
TS: Mark- Be Our Guest, T- Boma, M- Boma, A- Biergarten
Snack: Mark- Mickey Ice Cream Bar, T- Jalapeno Cheddar pretzel (she was not happy to learn this is gone), M- caramel corn from Karamel Kuche

All in all we had a fantastic trip and ate so many yummy things. I'm counting the days until we can go back again. Thank you everyone for following along with my dining report. I know it took forever.
