My family has been sick with the flu (cough, fever for 5 days). All four of us have had it all, a new one falling each day and my dd who was the first to get it is still sick. I ache all over and have had fevers of around 103. I have been up till 3 am with DD coughing and high fevers only to have DS wake up at 6 am vomiting (swallowing the mucous makes him throw up).

All this and running back and forth to the store and taking care of my kids plus it is that time of the month. I am miserable and my house is in shambles. I still have a fever and now I am getting a sinus infection. I am like the walking dead being sick myself and taking care of DH, DD and DS and getting no sleep.

All this and I am suppossed to host Thanksgiving in TWO DAYS!! I haven't even been to the grocery. We have guest coming in from out of town with hotel reservations or I would cancel the whole thing.

I just want to lay down and cry!

Go ahead and cry. You might feel better afterwards. Then call in help. Family, friends, whoever you can talk into coming and helping you out.

{{{{HUGS}}}} and best wishes that you get better real soon!! I know sort of how you feel as I have been down with a bad back for two weeks. It's so hard to get hype for the holidays when you're in pain or sick.:(

Oh, no - sounds awful. :(

Is there anyone else in the immediate area who could at least help you out, if not play hostess instead??

Good luck - I hope everything works out for you.

Oh you poor thing. Isn't there someone else who could do Thanksgiving in a pinch? Surely they will understand. You have to take the time to take care of yourself too. Please get well soon, all of you:hug: :worried:

Honey, Pick up your phone NOW and call your local grocer. The deli dept usually takes orders for Thanksgiving dinners with all the trimmings. Sounds like you could use this about now. Hugs, but from a safe distance!;)

TC:cool:

Tuffcookie is a Smartcookie. I agree with her advice. Call your local grocery deli department

{{{HUGS}}} Sorry to hear you have so much sickness at your house. Sure hope you are all feeling better soon.

Look on the bright side it will also be all over in 2 days .

Please follow Tuffcookie's advice or go out to a nice restaurant or buffet. I might be afraid that if I had company come to my home that I would send all of my family and friends home with the flu.

We had a family reunion at a beach house and my immediate family got sick with the stomach flu a few hours after we had arrived. Two days later most of my dear relatives had it too. I felt so badly about spreading our sickness but we did not know that we were sick when we left our home. My children didn't want to go to the reunion this year because of their bad memories of being so very sick.

I hope you and your family have a speedy recovery. Remember that it's not about the food or clean house but spending time with loved ones that really matters.

Awww. :( I'm sorry to hear that! I'm working on getting over a 24 hour stomach flu that's been going around my campus. I know it's no fun. I stressed out about going to my meeting (I'm president) and my parents convinced me that everyone knows I care and would rather I stay home than make them sick. I'm going to give you the same advice (with the understanding that Thanksgiving is a much bigger event, of course). Your family will understand and maybe even appreciate not getting sick! Hang in there!!!

Okay, I like the idea of a restaraunt, less likely to spread bugs! Thanks. Now to find a place that can serve 25 on thanksgiving. I wonder if old country buffet is open. Nasty food, but it would work.

Then, they could go to my mom's house to socialize and we can go back home and go to bed!

Don't stress...that will wear you down more. Feel better soon!!!!

I would just focus on your DL counter, only 236 to go!!!! Hugs, Tressa!!!! Hope you feel better soon, I bet you will be a LOT better in the morning.

Dan

If anyone has not come down with it yet, or if you are in the first 48(?) and it is Influenza, the doctor can prescribe Tamiflu or one of the other flu medications. It can help those who have not had it keep from getting the flu, or can help those that do have it get over it more quickly.

I really hope everyone is feeling better by Thursday. The ordering in of the dinner was a great idea. Even if everyone is well, you need some rest!

ACK! I feel your pain. I have degenerative disk disease and I'm pretty sure another disk in my back is letting go (I go for an MRI on Sunday). I've been in pain for 8 weeks now and have had to use a cane from time to time. :(

In response to the OP, couldn't you call these people and tell them what's going on? They may not want to expose themself's to the germs. Your whole house sounds so contagious. If they still want to come, I'd put them to work. :p

I've got my fingers crossed that the worst of this episode for me may be over. Last Friday for a few hours the pain dropped from a 9-10 to a 1-2. The same thing happened yesterday. To be nearly pain free after all these weeks would certainly be something to be thankful for!

Yes, the is bug is very nasty! We too have been hit hard with it. We have had 2 ER visits for IV fluids.

We cancelled our trip to NY & the family is grateful as we won't be spreading our virus's to them.

I ordered our meal for T'giving from our local grocery store. It feeds 10-12 people & will be ready for us @ 12 noon on Thursday. It will cost about $30.00. Not a bad price as I won't have to make it & use what little energy I have left.

I got 2 bags of IV's yesterday in the ER & I understand how hard it is when Mommy gets sick. Extra :wizard: & :grouphug: for you & your family!

Please find someone else to host it. NO one wants this. The ER said this is the worst they have seen it before the holidays in years!
