We love the F&WF, they have had more and more booths each and every year. We arrived Saturday and the lines for the booths were horrible. Each and every booth had ten to thirty people on line. It was really horrible. We hoped it was just for the weekend and all the locals would be gone by Monday. We were right.

We went to MGM on Sunday, hoping that Epcot would be better Monday. My 200 year old, three foot tall mother in law really had a blast. A set of street performers, three yentas on the back of a car saw her from a distance and started calling out to her, "Its Lucille Ball!!"(maybe her bright red har had something to do with that). Never realized just how accessable WDW actually is. There was nothing that you couldn't do with a wheelchair. She didn't make it too long into the days, but she had a great time.

She loved the Hoop Dee Doo!!!

The GV was great, we gave her the master, we stayed in the queen bedroom and my daughter and a friend stayed in the third. My father, stepmother, two sisters, their husbands and four kids had another GV and a two bedroom(my sister, her husband and their two kids stayed in the two bedroom).

I used my DVC discount to play my first ever round of golf on the LBV course that wraps around OKW. I had to rent clubs, they were all out of the 'Delux' clubs and the gave me a free upgrade to these "Titlest" clubs, I tell you, they were the worst clubs I have ever used, they just wouldn't hit the ball, they kept hitting the top of the ball, missng and often they even sent the ball into the water!!! I can't believe they rent such terrible golf clubs.

We had a truly fantastic dinner in the castle on Monday night. That really was some good chow. We did breakfast there once several years ago and while the castle itself was breathtaking and the princess was hot, the food was pretty lousy. Cold, pre-plated character meal breakfast, I think they plate them all in one central location and then send them to the various character breakfasts around property. This dinner was great and the service was beyond superb. The waitress said "If you see a side on a dinner other than the one are ordering, just ask!"..I had the king cut and the potatoes were absolutely fantastic, my wife had the pork chop and it was really, really perfect, almost made me regret my king cut....and then just as desert arrived, the fireworks started going off right in front of our eyes. We had fifteen people eating in what was the perfect table for viewing fireworks.

Monday and today we spent some time at Epcot, it was back to the usual low crowds and no lines. While there were certainly many people about, there were no lines to speak of anywhere. Had about five or six thimbles of cheese soup, some beef strogonoff, ziti carbonara, couple of beef kabobs and a few sweets. I really, really love the Food and Wine Festival, we went to the first one accidently and have only missed two years since.

Thanks for the report! We just got back from F&W Festival on Halloween and reading your report made my mouth water. The cheese soup and ziti were two of our favorites. Try the grapefruit cake if you haven't already! It was delicious!

Have a great time!

Donna

Great report! Sounds like you had a wonderful time! Now I can't wait to go the F&W F next November!

Did you report the faulty clubs to the staff at the Club House? They probably should be replaced with clubs that always hit the ball where you want it to go!;)

Thanks for posting!:)

We were there in October and found the same to be true, Sat & Sun at EPCOT were pretty crowded, but during the week it was no problem at all.

We loved the pizza in Italy, and I liked the chicken au gallo taco in mexico - the quesidilla and margaritas were good too!

Of course - had to have the fish & chips at the pub and watched "The British Invasion", they sounded really good - Beatles and Beer in the afternoon!!!

Off Kilter are my wife's fav's.

Of course, we got Mission Space and Test Track out of the way before we went for food.

I love EPCOT. We just joined DVC at Saratoga Springs Resort so hopefully our first trip will be next October to do the F&WF again. We love it.

Also saw the Funai classic on thursday - followed Mickelson and Furyk on Thursday (Singh was behind them). Love DISNEY in the fall

Eric

Weston.... I almost bought a house there.... My lasting memory tho is back when the Honda Classic was at Weston, I saw Danny boy tell a father and his kid no to an autograph. As he was walking past me he was telling his buddy how he has to put up with these "jerks". I no longer liked him from that point on.

We also love the F&W Festival. Perfect time of the year to go. BTW, my set of Titleist DCI's are no better than my old Wilson prostaffs. Go figure. ;)

Sounds like your trip home is going great Rich---thanks for checking in. I also love the F&W Festival. Heading there next year........

Thanks for the report. I know that we were 3 of the people in line on a Saturday waiting for bites of food. I gave up and enjoyed Norway's snack shop. Someday we'll be able to go on a weekday.

I hope everyone keeps reporting on the best type of clubs to buy because I'm looking for suggestions for DH and I may as well buy ones that work!;)

Sorry, by "Home", I meant back here in plain old Weston. Back to the grind.

I see Danny all the time. I keep my horses at the same barn that he does. Our children ride and take lessons together. I am surprised by that, he has always been quite genuine and humble in my experience.

The only downside to the trip was the musicians in Epcot. Its kind of cool, they have old acts playing live throughout this season. We arrived the day after The Fifth Dimension and left the day before Chubby Checka. The group that was there while we were I had never heard of.

Last year we saw the Turtles and someone else real cool that I can't think of right now.

How long has that classic rock thing been going on during this season? I only recall last year.

Do you think maybe it was'nt the golf clubs! You know its not the tools that make the mechanic!
HeHe:duck:

Rich

Ive got some lousy clubs just like that. Had em for about 10 yrs now.

Glad you had a great trip!

Gald you are having a godo time!

Glad you had a "godo" time too!

Loved you descriptions of the golf clubs and prepackaged dinners!

We have always wanted to do the F&WF, and will probably be there for it next year, depending on when it starts.

Thanks Rich for allowing my first smile of the day. Great post! The faulty clubs is the main reason I am having my husband bring his own set of clubs. God-forbid he gets a set of crappy clubs to mess up HIS game. And we all know it WILL be the clubs that made him play bad. LOL.

I am finally doing a single digit dance! I leave next Friday....drive for 22+ hours and then i'll be "home" Saturday!

Rich, as always, an amusing post. :D

That moment with the fireworks in the castle must've been fantastic.

We went to the 2nd weekend of the F&W Festival and I'm glad that we did the majority of Epcot on the Friday because the Saturday was very busy. We hit the last remaining booths on Saturday finishing off with the Paella @ Spain.

Good stuff.

I used my DVC discount to play my first ever round of golf on the LBV course that wraps around OKW

Can you please tell me what the cost for playing was. Hubby is interested, and I am just starting to gather information.

Thanks for the report, Richyams. We hope to get there one of these years for F&WF. Sounds like a blast!

Hi,

Great report!!!! Glad you are having a good time!!!

With the DVC discount, the round was $50. The club rental was like $60 or $65 or something. Imagine, that much money for such lousy clubs.

Disneyfan, you will definitely have a better guest band. All I remember of the list is that of the ten or so bands playing, the only one I didn't want to see was the one playing while we were there.

But the cheese soup was good.

Saw that same show they do on the UK street. Its been the same for almost as long as the Hoop Dee Doo, but it still makes me laugh.

Glad you had a great time Rich. We manage to spend a week at OKW during the W & F. Once for three days and then for four days. We saw Sister Sledge and later 5th Dimension. The former was not our type music. The latter were very good. We saw Chubby Checker last year and he was very good.
We liked some of the wine seminars and the culinary demos. The International Beer tasting near the Rose and Crown was great. There were three of us at the table and a bucket of iced beers, 2 from Belgium, 2 from England, 1 from Germany and 1 from Canada. Can't beleive they gave six beers away. I think we managed to chug all six and staggered out of the place.
We liked the Crabcakes at the American kiosk and always enjoy the hummas and chips at Moracco.
We had a 1 BR the first trip and a 2 BR the second. All at OKW. Villas were in great shape. For some reason we did not have a toaster the first time and a broken coffee carafe plus a dirty shower curtain. Mousekeeping came right over and fixed these minor problems. Also lots of Welcome Homes. Building 27 the first trip and 23 the second. Love OKW.
Also DW plays golf and has always wanted to play LBV course. But she is going to have to buy some better clubs.

Rich, sounds like you had another wonderful OKW trip.

Now you know why Tiger Woods, dumped Titleist and went with Nike. :) :)
