Howdy!
I'm a day late as we did Hollywood Studios yesterday and just getting around to posting some observations. It was an EMH for resort guests, but we blew it again and got a little more sleep and arrived at the park about 9:15. Oh boy!
We raced to Toy Story Mania, based on everyone's suggestion here. At 9:30 am the fast passes were already at 5:00pm!! Holy Woody, Batman! The wait was about an hour so we jumped into the fray and did the hour long wait, which really only lasted about 45 minutes. The ride? Eh. Bubba Jr gave it a 9 out of 10. I could have lived without it myself. Sure, it was fun, but it was really short and really not that spectacular if you ask me. When we exited the ride, the fastpass times were well past 8pm. Ok, enough of that.
We hit the big rides, some on fast pass but most we did the line because the fast passes were all sucked up by the early folks. Folks, the debate on EMH is over officially.. If you don't make rope drop, hit another park. Even if you show up just after the regular opening time you are going to get hosed by your fellow resort guests. The only real fasspass I did was the mexican dinner I had the night before. The day was spent in a lot of lines.... and I got news for you.... the little "60 minutes from this point on" is about as accurate as the local weatherman in Houston. Not very.
Some general observations:
Crowds - HEAVY. First time all week I felt crowded. Could have been EMH, or it could have been the streets were just too damn narrow for all the people they crammed into this place.
Weather - HOT. There is so little shade in this park it is not a pleasant place to visit in August. You would think the "imagineers" would have dreamt up a few stinking more trees or shades along those hot asphalt streets. I mean really... it was bad.
People - YOU SO SILLY! I saw my share of Mouse-ka-morons this day. There was one instance that takes the cake: My son and I were sitting in the shade near the entrance to theatre where Beauty and the Beast was going on, waiting for Mrs. Bubba to ride the Hollywood Vomit Comet Hotel. A "lady" (and I use that term losely) was standing next to us, yet there was some space in the shade between myself and the "lady". A young mom and her two daughters approach and stand in this spot of shade. The "lady" looks at them and says "I am sorry, my husband is standing in this shade. I am saving it for him". I tell you folks, it took every ounce of my southern manners training not to turn around and let that "lady" know what I thought of that statement. I hope she reads this board. If you do read this board lady, send me a private message. I would really like to let you know just what I think of people like you. Fortunately my son and I were able to shift a little bit and give up some of "our shade" for them to cool off with. Whew. Ok I got that off my chest.
People, part 2 - you big burly men need to learn how to give up your seat on the bus to a lady or a child and not make them stand up. That's just manners, good manners, and you need to learn you some of dem manners and be a man! I bet some of you would have made your mama stand up out of her wheelchair on the bus so you can sit your wet, hairy butt on that plastic seat for 10 minutes while you ride back to the transportation center to drive your prius back to the Nickelodeon resort. Even Spongebob has some class.
People, part 3 - The ice cream snack shaped like a black piece of sausage with peanuts all over it should not be eaten by women in public. I'll stop right there.
Buses - First problem we had with buses all trip. Took a good 30 min to get a ride back to the Wilderness lodge, and that came after I walked across the street to an idling bus and asked him to call his dispatcher to see if the Wilderness Lodge did not pay their bus fare and got dropped from the route. Oh, and it was hot too. Boris, the bus driver, was kind enough to bring his bus over and give us a lift.
Food - Good stuff. Had counter service for lunch and dinner and service was good, food was adequate.
People, part 4 - You walk on the right side in America, Jack! This left side walking stuff is all EuroDisney.
Favorite part of the day? Muppet 3D is just too dang entertaining. Fozzy Bear is my hero. That should give all you good folks a good indication of the extreme levels of entertainment to make the Bubba laugh.
We did Animal Kingdom today, so I'll try to give you my tips from there today sometime soon.

Editor's note: Mrs. Bubba asked me to point out that you wives out there need to bring the Beano. Apparently everything I have eaten thus far at the resort has produced higher than normal amounts of gas. You folks in the counter service line watch out for the redneck Texan in the Astros cap. You might be subject to an "attack". Enough said.
