I'm having the weirdest "problem"

I suffer from the same condition and i share disney with a group of non planners  . When they see me in planning mode(walking around the house in mickey ears with a pad of paper, pen and a laptop not far behid) they run for cover. I live for the days of endless planning. I currently planing a last minute trip for Dsis and I for the end of April. She doesn't fly so i'm planning the drive down with my along I75 book, figuring where we should stop, eat, etc. She did call me last night and H_ _l did freeze over as she said lets fly, she's going to be 50(BDAY trip) and has never flown. She said you plan it and book the flights and I'll go with whatever you decide to do. Well the ice melted and she called this morning in a panic and said DID YOU BOOK THE FLIGHT and I told her no not yet, good thing cause she changed her mind :p . that's ok we travel well together. but if we flew that would give me 2 more disney days to plan. I'm allready planning the family gathering for december 2008 :smokin: . Ok I need to go plan meals now. She wants to wing it :lmao: :lmao: . Susan

One alternative: learn to relax a wee bit. As a DVC owner, you'll be having trips for the next 3-4 decades, so there's no need to go commando over each trip. That's one of the things we love about DVC: we make the ressies for DVC, plane and car and we're pretty much done. We still look forward to the trip - it can take us away from the humdrum/hectic world - but without all the pre-trip stress....

I am a complusive planner also, When I am at the point you are at.. I start making lists of what I have and have not seen yet. With more than 10 years of 3 or 4 vacations each year to WDW, there is still something that is new that I have not seen. I add obscure things, Here are a few that are on my list: like new animals at Fort Wilderness , even new snack locations.. what about the bathrooms and shopping area near Everest? Check on the construction ( deconstruction) of the Tarzan show and any new rumors from CMs about the next show. There are always some old favorites that we do each trip, but mostly our vacations now are seeing what has changed.

I am an obsessive planner also. We plan our days out fully. We know where we will be, where we'll be eating, what we are doing that night, etc. We too love to check out anything new. I just read that AK is getting a new Asian-themed TS/CS restaurant with a shopping area in Asia and that threw me into-should we eat there or Flame Tree? Will it even be open by Oct? What will the food be like? What kind of shopping will there be? We love checking out new stuff!

We know where and when we are doing DVC for the next 3 years! I still get to plan the days though. :)

I had that "problem" the first couple of DVC trips too, but now I just revel iin the fact that I don't have to plan much! I really enjoy "winging" it!

have you done "back up" lists?
like just about everyone on this thread  i norm have lists of our flight/resort info, ADR's, "must sees", extra magic dates/times, packing lists.....

then the "oh NO!! i still have <fill in the blank> months to go ~ what to do?! :confused3 "
then come the "secondary lists".........
~ hidden mickey list
~ restaurants (complete with menus) & other eateries (dole whip, gharidelli, etc) "i might visit" list
~ "if i started pin trading" list
~ "where we would go if we do decide to rent a car" list
~ back-up packing lists (in case of blistering sun, tsunami, etc)
~ maps of other resorts that we might visit
~ "extra food & beverage list"

oddly, i rarely even look at the folder of papers once at WDW
