I'm having fish tonight!!! 6 nights DLX DDP with pics! UPD: final thouhts 3/24

after a full day at MK we monoraied to Epcot and then powerwalked:eek:round a very very busy park (it was a Sun eve) all the way to Italy.

We checked in and were seated immediately in a very crowded and noisy restaurant.

Now I had spent months researching the menus online and thought i had my choices at tutto sussed, until I discovered that the lemon sole is fried in shellfish oil so was not an option. :eek:For some reason, tutto was far less accomodating than any of the other restaurants we came across....especially for my youngest daughter who went without a pudding because there wasn't a suitable nut free dessert:rolleyes1

I ordered a glass of pinot grigio and DH ordered a cocktail, which he enjoyed.

For appetisers, we ordered:

kids fruit salad

DisneyOctober2009-1824.jpg
[/IMG]

kids mozarella sticks (we asked for the sauce to be on the side but obviously this message was not passed on to the kitchen:confused:)

DisneyOctober2009-1826.jpg
[/IMG]

ceasar salad

DisneyOctober2009-1825.jpg
[/IMG]

aubergine parmigiana

DisneyOctober2009-1827.jpg
[/IMG]

All the appetisers were very good, particularly the aubergine which is like the one at pizza express in the UK.

For our entrees, DH ordered penne pasta caprese.

DisneyOctober2009-1828.jpg
[/IMG]

he was not at all impressed with this. the sauce lacked any depth and he simply hated the cold lumps of mozarella dumped on top of a hot dish:confused:

I had the cannelloni, which was ok but really nothing to write home about, very filling, and i left about a half of it:

[/IMG]

Both children chose the pizza, which was one of the better ones on property:

DisneyOctober2009-1830.jpg
[/IMG]

For dessert, DH ordered a chocolate gelato. This was OUTSTANDING! Rich and chocolately, absolutely divine:love::

DisneyOctober2009-1831.jpg
[/IMG]

I chose the tiramisu, which was good but most of it ended up in the fridge before being thrown away at the end of the week:rolleyes1

DisneyOctober2009-1833.jpg
[/IMG]

DD1 had the kids chocolate mousse which was also good

DisneyOctober2009-1832.jpg
[/IMG]

So for us, tutto was just OK. Not bad, but not great either....just a pretty average Italian meal in a hectic and overcrowded environment, which is incredibly overpriced if paying OOP.
We would drop by again at lunchtime for apps and gelato, but skip the rest:rolleyes1

I am really sorry to hear you had such a mediocre time at Tutto Italia! We have had a few dinners there and have always had top notch food and service. It IS loud in there though!
It's such a shame you couldn't have the sole - we had it last summer and it was SO good!
Thanks for your reviews - I am looking forward for more!

Hi! Joining a bit late here!

I am also from just outside London, it's nice to see other Brits doing food reviews! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more!

I am sorry to hear they were not to accomadating for the allergies!! We will be eating there in about 12 days and my DS has a nut allergy.
Did they give him any dessert at all? I would like to prepare. Now I am rethinking Tutto's. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, it is hard to beat the Italian restaurants there sp we may be a bit more particular with our Italian food. I dont like the frying in the shellfish oil either and I was going to get the sole. I rarely get Italian sauce out (except in NY :).

Thanks, such a shame about the sole, seems so odd that they'd re-use oil or not have fresh oil they could use instead?...seems we'll be there a similar time to you in Aug....did you get bounceback FD or book through the UK site?

Hi and welcome! So the question is, North, South, East or West?:)

Really don't know what to say to you, other than share our experience last month. Honestly, my nine yr old could make a better pasta dish than my DH received! And as I say above, why could they not use fresh oil to pan fry the sole???

There is no way I'd go there if paying OOP....in our opinion it is vastly overpriced for average to poor food....sorry if that upsets anyone, but any Italian restaurant worth its salt should know how to make a good flavourful tomato sauce.

For dessert they offered DD2 a packaged choc chip cookie, and although it was included on free dining she wasn't going to eat it and I thought we may as well save on the extra $ tip:rolleyes1. Instead she had a mickey bar later as a snack credit and that kept her happy.

Next up is Yak n yetti and sci fi, hopefully over the next few days....

Yes, you will be there the same time we are! We are arriving on Aug 14th, then staying at ASMo for 12 nights with FD, cruise on the wonder for 7 nights (3 night cruise back to back with a 4 night cruise) and then stay another 9 nights at Pop Century with FD. We got the bounceback for both stays as they offered the regular DDP (1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack) while the UK site doesn't offer any free DDP with a value resort. We actually upgraded the last 9 nights to the DxDDP - and want to do a signature restaurant every night - we'll see how that works out, LOL!
You said that you fly in to Miami - any chance you can make it to Key West? We went there for the last two years before we went to Disney and it was fab!

North!
(but not up north ;))

same! not far from M1/M25! IASW after all!!!!

How about you?

same! not far from M1/M25! IASW after all!!!!

OMG what a fantastic holiday...and I thought we were lucky having 18 nights in Florida! still deep in discussion as to what we'll do...will have another read of your trip report, as the keys do sound good too....

Before I start this one off, I'm going to share with you how many times i nearly cancelled this ADR. Why? First, I wasn't sure about whether the girls would eat the veg lo mein, second, DH had the panko mahi at the T Rex back in August and hated it, and when I made the ADR that's the dish I thought he'd order!

Now, we normally go to Rainforest cafe when we're at AK, so this was a new one for us, and in the end I decided to keep it and say never mind if we didn't like it.

Well, what a pleasant surprise!

We each ordered a cocktail, I had the mango frozen daquiri and DH had the pina colada frozen daquiri. Both were totally delicious!

DisneyOctober2009-1846.jpg

DisneyOctober2009-1847.jpg

We ordered a wok fried green beans and a seared ahi tuna for our appetisers and we really enjoyed them. The beans tasted similar to onion rings/battered courgette(zucchini), and the tuna was served chilled over an asian coleslaw (sorry we started before taking a pic::rolleyes1) which was really good.

DisneyOctober2009-1852.jpg

DisneyOctober2009-1853.jpg

For our entree we both had the miso salmon with jasmine rice and stir fry bok choy/****ake mushroom and other veggies. Another 10 out of 10!

DisneyOctober2009-1854.jpg

The girls had veg lo mein, fries and jasmine rice, which they both seemed to enjoy.

DisneyOctober2009-1855.jpg

I'm sorry to say we only managed one dessert between the four of us as we were now so full. But wow, what a dessert! mmmmmmm! For some reason I don't have the picture but we had the Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99. So good.

So we left very happy and now DH says this was in his top 5 meals of the holiday! We would definitely stop by on an AK day in the future!

Our lunch at Y&Y last year wasn't very good but I like to give a restaurant at least two chances so we are trying it again. I really hope we just had an off day! I did love those green beans! Maybe a couple of those pina coladas will make it better!

the plan tonight was to see the 7.30pm Fantasmic! show, so we arranged an early ADR at Sci fi for 5.05pm. We were quickly shown to a car, the girls in front, us behind, and a really nice older couple hitchhiked in the back row.

We all loved the theming of this restaurant, it was so nice to sit in the cool airconditioning and it was so quiet in there with everyone engrossed in the movies.

We ordered milkshakes which were delicious, shared some onion rings, and each had the veggie burger and fries with mushrooms and cheese. the burger was just ok tbh, but that was fine.

Milkshake at Sci Fi:

DisneyOctober2009-1858.jpg

the girls had pizza and fries, and each had some of our onion rings.

For dessert, DH had the sundae, the girls had ice cream, and I had the cheesecake with treats which was again ok....tbh after the wondrous cheesecake in narcoosees (and at The Cheesecake Factory later that week) I wasn't too bothered and just took a couple of bites:

DisneyOctober2009-1862.jpg

to sum up, we really enjoyed the atmosphere at Sci Fi, and would return for sure to have a milkshake and a break from the park again, but probably would not bother to eat the entree food there again.

After a busy morning at Epcot riding Soarin and Test Track 3 times each, and a pit stop at Sunshine Seasons for iced latte, hot chocolate, cinammon roll and strawberry cheesecake,

DisneyOctober2009-1873.jpg

with DD2 then chosen as the dudette in the talk with crush (and DH the parental unit) we made our way to Chefs for our lunch ADR (stopping for an autograph with Marie outside). We were shown to our table, and no sooner than we sat down, along came Remy to say "hello!" and to wish us a happy Anniversary. He is so cute!

DisneyOctober2009-1881-Edit.jpg

DH ordered the cheese plate, which he enjoyed with the lovely crusty french baguette style rolls:

DisneyOctober2009-1883.jpg

I passed on an appetiser, despite the server pushing the escargot:eek: and DD1 had the cheese puff pastry, which was a meal in itself at $4. I helped her to finish it.

DH and I both ordered the mahi sandwich with fries, and it was very good:

DisneyOctober2009-1885.jpg

The girls both had flounder and fries for their meal with green beans, followed by chocolate ice cream. An excellent kids meal!

DisneyOctober2009-1884.jpg

For dessert, DH chose the apple crepe with caramel sauce, which he loved, and I had the profiteroles filled with ice cream and chocolate sauce:goodvibes

DisneyOctober2009-1888.jpg

What a nice lunch! With 4 diet cokes, the bill came to $100, but just a single TS credit on the dining plan. Highly recommended for a casual, relaxed lunch.:thumbsup2

We had a late reservation at Coral Reef, and spent the afternoon in the rain at DHS. We were handed a buzzer, then very swiftly it buzzed.

We were led to what has to be the worst table in the whole restaurant, right at the back at the very end:sad2:

To add to the disappointment, our waiter was best described as efficient but indifferent:rolleyes:. he literally threw straws at us, disappeared for long periods, brought out a lobster soup by mistake when I am allergic to shellfish:eek:. Not very good at all.

Anyhow, we would still go back, but insist on a better table next time. Why? Because we all loved the aquarium (the kids especially enjoyed the spot the fish game on the kids menus...kept them busy for ages...I'm sure that not all the fish are in there:rolleyes1), the restaurant was lovely and quiet, not manic at all, and the food was pretty scrummy!

So, the food.

A wee drink first, passion fruit mojito, very good!:thumbsup2

DisneyOctober2009-1927.jpg

DH had a pina colava, but no pic of this.

Delicious bread rolls and butter were served, and I had butternut squash soup, which was vegetarian and tasty!

DisneyOctober2009-1930.jpg

DH ordered ceasar salad (do you see a pattern here yet?!).

DisneyOctober2009-1929.jpg

For our entree we both had a new dish to the menu as the mahi dish had changed from the one shown on allears.

So, Seared Golden Tilefish with roasted wild mushrooms, pearl onions, fingerling potatoes and a red wine reduction, very tasty

DisneyOctober2009-1931.jpg

For dessert, DH had the butterscotch creme brulee, which he enjoyed

DisneyOctober2009-1933.jpg

I had the almond gelato, peaches and passion fruit sauce (didn't eat the base as this contained marshmallow which isn't vegetarian)

DisneyOctober2009-1932.jpg

The kids both had celery and carrot sticks, grilled mahi and french fries, and fruit salad. Another plus was that they were able to get a virgin colava for their DDP drink, even on the kids plan.:thumbsup2

Merry Xmas to all of you reading, commenting and lurking from snowy UK!:santa:

The first time we ate at Coral Reef our server was the same way. But last year we had a great woman. We love the tank, too ... that is why we gave it a 2nd try and were very pleased.

We had a 9am ADR at Cape May, and arrived around 10 mins early. Buzzer went off on time. A nice buffet, with a few added bonuses in the asparagus and the vanilla bread pudding. We saw Goofy, Donald and Minnie. Not rushed, food was good, a solid:thumbsup2 from us!

So we arrived a little late for our ADR as we parked too far away near Planet Hollywood and started in the wrong direction by mistake.

DH had the asian spring rolls, which he really enjoyed:

DisneyOctober2009-1943.jpg

I had the butternut squash soup. This was really yummy, much better than the one at Coral Reef, it was quite "sweet" and a huge portion. I particularly liked the chilli kick!

DisneyOctober2009-1944.jpg

DH had blackened mahi sandwich, another good entree!

DisneyOctober2009-1947.jpg

I had the fish of the day, which was mahi over couscous and lemon caper butter, really really good:thumbsup2

DisneyOctober2009-1945.jpg

Dessert was a few spoonfuls of mud pie, good, but the creme brulee cheesecake was a WOW!

DisneyOctober2009-1949.jpg

DisneyOctober2009-1948.jpg

The girls had spaghetti with tomato (marinara) sauce on the side, which they both loved, followed by the palette sundae which made a nice change from the bowl of vanilla ice cream served elsewhere

DisneyOctober2009-1950.jpg

So we had a good experience here, solid service and food. If it goes back on the plan we would definitely return. There is one small thing to be aware of here. They bumped up all the prices on the bill (check) for DDP from the menu prices shown...an uplift over the 3 courses of about $20....we didn't take issue over it but instead reduced our tip from 20% to 15% to reflect the practice. So if you go on DDP, take note and adjust accordingly!
