I'm graduating from high school this year, can I work for Disney this summer?

I don't feel as though I will be able to be a part of the college program (obviously not this coming fall for my first year of school) due to my school's somewhat unusual schedule, but I do have a very long summer break. I graduate the first week of june and start school around September 13th. I will not be 18 until August. Is it true that I can be a part of a program just because I will be graduating? Is there even a program for a short period of time like that? If not a program, can I work at Disney World or Disneyland this summer somehow, with Disney housing? Thanks so much for the help.

For people who just graduated, there's the CareerStart program...

"This seven month program is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, open to graduating high school seniors and recent high school graduates at least 18 years of age who have received their diploma or GED in the past 48 months."

...but u said ur not 18 yet, so there aren't any more options that offer housing. You could try to get part time work (pretty much impossible to get full time work there not as there is a waiting list for most jobs), but you would ahve to find your own place. I'm not too much help tho :confused3 lol

I would definitely try to do the CP though while you're in college. If you want to graduate on time though, you can always do the CP the semester after u graduate :)

Ohhh I see. I just don't want to have to wait that long! Haha.

I don't think I could work part time since I would be by myself and not have a car. I'd need some kind of Disney thing to get me there haha. I want to so badly though!! (:

You should do CS. Theres a whole group of us who got in! If you're not going to college this fall anyways might as well spend it in Disney!

But I am I start second week of september. And isn't it a 7 month program?

Not anymore it's like 5 months...from September 1st to Janurary 14th. But if you're going to college then never mind lol I just assumed you were waiting.

The spring careerstart program spans from Jan to Mid Aug. So in a way it is kind of seven months.
From the careerstart site:

We currently offer two program terms:
Spring Advantage: Late January to mid-August
Fall: Late August to early January

How is your school's schedule weird? Because they may have a program that you can do - they have quarter programs and stuff like that.

What are the exact start and end of sessions?

Spring Advantage Quarter*- interviews are held between September and November, and the program spans approximately March/April through August.

Fall Advantage Quarter* - interviews are held between February and April, and this program spans approximately June through early January

Ugh. I just can't see disrupting my college schedule since I'm a film major...

The only way any of this would be possible was if I just auditioned for a normal part time role. But where would i stay/how would I commute?? :confused3

I don't know of any set ways. You would have to stay in an apartment/hotel and either cab or bus to work. Sort of improvise.

I would be spending more than I would be earning at work. :rotfl:

Only way possible it seems is if I did the CP after I graduate....maybe Enchanted 2 will be coming out and I can be friends with Giselle. :goodvibes

I'm graduating this May and starting my first CP in August!

Does this sound right? Apparently my school is REALLY INTO this program...so I'm assuming they give credits. Since I will be going to film school I really can't take time off and miss those classes, but my first year I should only be covering the basics and not taking any films courses at all. Is it possible that I could sign up for a spring semester, get credit, and then continue doing cps in the summer as an alumni? I don't think it would disrupt my courses that way since I will only be taking basic classes that are probably also part of the cp?

You could do that, yes.

However, you don't take classes as a part of the CP, not general education classes at least. They're optional marketing and Disney and guest services, etc, classes. But if you get credit for the program, then that's great! See what the credit covers, if it meets some sort of general humanities or marketing credit.

Talk to your advisor and see if you can get credit doing the CP. My friend did her CP during her first year and got credit even though the classes didn't apply to her major. Another friend also got credit by taking general classes online through her college. Every school is different. Just talk to your advisors.
