I am so disappointed they are re-furbishing POC! I read on allears that they are refurbishing to coinside (man I wish this had spellcheck) with the release of the new Pirates on July 7. We leave WDW on the 5th so I'm hoping for a sneak preview or a 'soft' opening. Sounds like it should be great. Any attraction that is adding Captain Jack Sparrow can't be bad. pirate:

Pirates is a great ride, and I'm sort of sad and anxious that they are changing it....I like the one that's there now....they should just add onto it to update for the new movie, not change what's there already....

I just saw this on allears too but it is not yet listed on the official WDW website. I'll be at MK on 2/28 so I'll be sure to hit POC.

Blast!! I was hoping the rehab was going to be pushed out. Going 4/29-5/7. Going to miss POC :furious: I love that ride after a long day in the sun.

Yo ho!!

Come on... grow up. Change is good. Walt, himself, liked change. WE LoVE Pirates... but, lets see what changes are in store. The magic memories of the old will always stay with us...

I don't think it has a matter to do with growing up or not, I just think it's people's personal preference. People like me, who have grown up with that ride, have a sentimental attachment to it and get nervous when "change" is brought up. I just don't want anything to happen that will taint the "classic" element of the ride for me. I personally, am not for the change, but who knows, maybe I'll like it after it's gone. POC just has a spot in my heart since it was the first ride I ever went on. Let's all just hope for the best! :thumbsup2

Is there any listed closing date for Magic Kingdom's POC? I know that the one at Disneyland is already closed but I hadn't heard the other one closed. Anyone know?

I don't have an issue with change. Just not during my trip... Hee hee hee. :rolleyes1

It's one of my favorites. Will be riding it a lot in 24 days.

I have been on ALL of the websites so now I can't remember where I read what, but I THOUGHT I saw somewhere that the official dates for the WDW Pirates rehab were March 1 - June 30, reopening on July 1. Did anybody else see that? Does anybody happen to remember WHERE that might have been posted? :confused3

I have been on POC a few times, the last time was in 2004. What exactly are they changing ???
I do love Capt'n Jack Sparrow, but how does that change the original POC attraction??
Just Curious !!!
Thanks!!!
Oh, And we are going to WDW this Nov 2006, so it sounds like I'll get to check-it out then.... pirate: :sail:
Yo' Ho Yo' Ho....a Pirates Life for Me !

We saw that information too. As long as they get rid of that last scene where the guy and girl are tied up in the chair on top of a pile of jewelry...works for me. I have to say I actually like Disney Land's POC better.

It sounds awesome to me !!!
Keeping the original theme, but adding more swashbuckling fun, sounds fun!
I am glad they are keeping this attraction, it is a Classic.....New technology will make it even better then before !!! :Pinkbounc :mickeyjum :figment: :donald: :stitch:

If they are putting a lifesize version of Orlando Bloom  (and Jonny Depp) I will not get off the ride!!! :cool1: I think it will just be upgraded a little like IASW was when it went through it rehab.

First, I will be surprised if POTC is closed the weekend before the 4th of July.

Second, I can relate to all those who are borderline devastated that it will be closed when they are there. I have rescheduled trips because major attraction were going down. We only get down every couple of years and I don't want to miss a ride like POTC.

That was my thought exactly! I found it so hard to believe they'll take down a major attraction that is quick loading and holds a ton of people in line for a holiday. I'm just hoping I'll be able to ride it on July 1!

I have yet to hear a firm date on completion. But keep this in mind as with any project it could go longer.........
or could go shorter depending on a lot of variables I'm betting it opens before july because of the simple fact that they always budget more time for a project then it should actually take........
Siince this is not a NEW ride there is no reason to wait for a certain date to "OPEN" or reveal...LOL

who knows could be open in june you never know!
