She is a soon to be (but may not make it) 2yo collie. She was really a pain in the butt to housebreak. She did really well for a while, one she got the hang of it. Now all of a sudden she is pooping in her crate. I leave her out long enough and very often. And feed her at the same time everyday. I show her in confirmation and used to teach obedience classes years ago, so its not like I don't know what I'm doing. But I guess I don't. UGGGHHHH! I pulled her and her crate outside and she's sitting in the driveway. Anybody want a 22 month old sable and white collie, very pretty, named Jasmine?

Maybe there is somethign medically wrong, have you called your vet?

I'm with Preshi. Dogs don't go where they sleep, like in their crate. Give your vet a call and rule out anything that might be wrong!

i know, i keep picturing this little doggie sitting in a crate in her driveway....:(

:(

Why is she even in a crate in the afternoon when someone's home?

Is she in the crate WITH the poop, still???? Please tell me you cleaned it up before putting her back in there...

I would take Jasmine to the vet...I agree that it sounds like something must be wrong.

In the Driveway???? That's horrible. There's no reason to punish her for something that might have been beyond her control. Take her to her vet.

I’m sure you have your reasons to treat your dog the way you are and since you trained dogs in past you must know better. However I doubt that placing the dog and the crate in the driveway will have any benefit whatsoever. I agree with others that you should contact vet and inquire what the problem may be dogs do not go to the bathroom near their sleeping quarters.

I hope that you and Jasmine figure out what the problem is or you are able to find a new home for Jasmine

Hey............I think the OP is just kidding! You know how you say things when you are frustrated to get the frustration out when you REALLY want to do something else!

I used to make those comments daily when I was raising my puppy. Things like "I'm leaving the gate open....." and of course, I was just venting! My puppy is now 3.............he survived........I survived. But boy, did I say alot of mean things when he chewed the deck, chewed the deck carpet, chewed the rose bushes, chewed the lilac bushes...................

Give the OP a break!:earseek:

You could smell her feet, see if they smell like Fritos, maybe that would help. ;)

It didn't sound like "she's in the driveway in her crate" was a joke though.

Perhaps the OP pulled them outside to clean them? I know that is what we had to do when we had this issue with our puppy. It was easier to pull everything into the driveway and hose it all down to clean it up.

Something else to think about, perhaps the crate is too big? We had that issue and that is what our vet told us. The crate should be just big enough for the dog to turn around in and lay down. If it's any bigger than that, they will eliminate their wastes in one area and then curl up in another area to get away from it.

For someone who used to teach obedience classes it sounds as though your tolerance level is a bit low..

Hopefully the poor pooch isn't sitting outside in the crate as some sort of punishment.. :(

Gees, you people are a little bit ridiculous. First, of all I should have known better than to post on here, where everyone makes a big deal out of everything.. I needed to vent because my dog is a bit head strong and poops in her crate when I leave her alone too much. I'm not going to kill her. I'm not going to give her to someone else and I'm not finding her a new home. And I didn't LEAVE her sitting in the driveway alone for hours in her dirty crate. She is the family pet, along with my other 14yo collie. There is nothing wrong with her medically. She goes to the vet reguarly. Like I said in the OP, I've tried different stuff and she still does it. Her crate is not too big either. And dogs usually won't go where they lay, but head strong ones will. We've been running alot lately with all my kids activities and that ticks her off. She likes to be around us, and she is only in her crate when we're not home. Gees, people LIGHTEN UP!!! You think what I see you people do to other posters, I should know better, guess I do now. Thanks LindaR and MZMickey it seems like you're the only ones who don't take everything personally people say on here. GEES!

I had a dog that used to do it too. It's frustrating. It's just revenge for not spending more time with her. It'll stop. I also had a dog that would eat poop. Ewwwwwwwwwww! Finally, it stopped too. It was a jealousy thing.

Excuse people for being concerned

If your dog isn't in the crate in the driveway, then why did you post it?

And there are many ways to express frustration without saying you're going to kill your dog. There are a lot of abused animals out there. I'd be more upset if people didn't post their concern.

Perhaps you should lighten up.
