I'm going to Boston! (Updated POST 86--Extreme was GREAT!)

Definately hit Mike's in the North End for a lobster tail (the pastry). That's Chad's favorite thing! We almost walked over there last night after the Goo Goo Dolls, but decided to just go home. Maybe I should walk over there now, and bring one home for him...

Are you going to be in town on a weekday? Or just the weekend? (don't have a calendar in front of me) It would be fun to meet for lunch!

I'll be flying in late on Thursday night. We could do lunch Friday 6/30 or Saturday 7/1. We're going to leave either Saturday evening or Sunday morning to drive to Hartford to see my DS and her family before we drive back to FL.

It would be good to see you again!

I'm walking over there at lunch, around 1:00. Should I pick some up for you? ;)

You would want the Boston Ha in downtown Boston Harbor Hotel.
Top notch my fave property.
Best place to eat Classic Italian real food, LUCIA's in The North end. awesome and of course the original Pizzaria Regina. sitting at the Bar is the best place.

If you have a car and want to go for a drive take a hop down to plymouth and Eat at Issacs on the Water in Plymouth Harbor.

IM me if you have any specific questions!

Shoot! We are on vacation & going to the beach that week. I was hoping you'd be in town the following Monday and I could meet you when I get out of work at 11:30am. Darn! I am so bummed I am going to miss you when you are in my neck of the woods.

And I forgot all about the lobster's tail for Chad. I will have to try to get one tomorrow. He was such a good sport donating his old Trombone so I could go see the Goo Goo Dolls yesterday! And putting up with my drooling over Johnny. Speaking of rock stars - Anne if you have any connections with them, I NEED to meet them! Get an autograph! Something! :lovestruc But I digress...

Back to the topic at hand:
The Boston Harbor Hotel is gorgeous! Another really nice one is the Onyx. It's pretty new and funky - near the Boston Garden. I stayed there when work put us up overnight for a snowstorm. I loved it! I've heard Nine Zero is awesome. And the Omni Parker House is really nice - that's usually where work puts us up.

Also, I used to always got to eat at L'Osteria in the North End. It's been awhile and I am not sure of the spelling. I don't even know what street it's on, we just used to walk there. I haven't been in a few years though. Pretty much anywhere in the North End will be good. Maybe you guys could catch a show in town - they have a half price ticket window at Faneuil Hall.

The duck tours look fun too. I keep meaning to do that, but it seems weird when you live here, you know?

Prevailing wisdom has always been, you can walk down Hanover St (main drag in the North End) choose any restaurant, and have a great meal.

My in-laws especially like a little hole in the wall called Ida's (you feel like you're walking into someone's kitchen). Mother Anna's is great. We always preferred Caffe Vittorio over Mike's for cappuccino and pasty after dinner, but Mike's is yummy too.

I love Greg to pieces! (He's actually my favorite of the three brothers ...shhhhh!) Do you know about the CD Greg just put out to benefit Malden Schools? Nuno's sister Treza did the art work for the CD cover. (She's a wonderful artist, DH and I have fallen in love with one of her paintings and are waiting on our tax return to purchase it!)

They are playing at the Bank of America Pavillion. Tickets on sale @ 10:00am tomorrow through Ticketmaster.

Hoping to--haven't quite figured out who/how to ask for credentials on this one yet. Gary is managed by a small operation run by Van Halen's late manager's brother, I haven't a clue who's managing Nuno these days--it *might* be Paul, and Paul and Pat are obviously not even managed, and their no label involved, so it's weird. I'll probably call Paul about it, although Pat is the easiest to actually get on the phone. (He answers his cell, LOL!)

I had actually put this link up before here on the DIS but I love it so much I'll do it again!!

http://www.celebrateboston.com/main/sitemap.htm

On page 2 I believe Snowite told you about Georges Island and I have to second this as it was the first place I thought of---It's a short boat ride and an immensely enjoyable day or 1/2 day whatever you may want. Each time I went I loved it!

The link has a lot of places you can check out---I'm not to sure about what each is like because I wasn't able to do them all!!---I grew up in N'East Mass and love the history up there, but then that's what I'm into---I hope you enjoy your trip and if you get a chance for lunch take a few minutes and head up to KELLY's at Revere Beach for a roast beef sandwich it's really very good (Not as good as Harrisons in Andover mind you,but then I'm not impartial! LOL!)

RBUZZOTTA... do you remember GAry Cherone when he worked at teh rcord store in Meadow Glenn Mall? I can't remember the name but it was right next to TELLOS!

Obviously a fellow Malden person here as welll. His Mom was also my Gym teacher loved her!!! I just told my son about Gary working at the record store and kids would give him Guff. and he would just say you see I will be famous. ANd good for him he did!

ANNE I second Debster recommendations for Idas in the North End. Nothing fancy but good Homecooked original Italian Food.

Does anyone know the name of the restauraunt off of Hanover. that only serves like 20 people at a time? They pick you up in thier private Limo and drive you around until the patron before you has vacated your table. that place was alot of fun. My BIL always had to go there for the Mussels.

I'm LMAO here, if Gary had any idea that a bunch of Disney freaks were talking about him like this he'd just shake his head and laugh that little chuckle of his!!

Anne

Duck are you actually going to be conversing on a personal level with the band members?

I do remember Gary working there!! It wasn't Strawberries was it??? I also have fun and fond memories of riding around with them on their dirtbike and actually dumping over on it!! We hung around in this woodsy area near our houses................today they are no longer woods but a developement of homes.

I remember Greg being a very good artist!!! My friend 'dated' him. Their parents were very nice also...........nice family!!!

I am going to try to get tickets!!! Thanks Anne!!

Um, when? I am in touch with them and their families... Did you want a message passed along? I can do that any time.

Enjoy your trip to Boston! Boston is my favorite city to visit. Luckily it is only 1 1/2 hrs. away so we get there fairly often. My DS and his fiance live in just outside of Boston. Sounds like you are planning to visit Legal Seafood! They have the best clam chowder. Have fun!

Kelleigh, we did go to Quincy Market, loved it also. My dd is looking for an apt. down there around Joy st./Garden St. and all blocks in between. We did look at some studios, but, OMG, they were sooooo small. AND, they were all on the top floor. Now, we're looking to get her a 2 bd. apt. to share with a friend. If you hear of anything, please let me know.

ONE THING ABOUT BOSTON, I HAVE TO SAY, EVERYONE IS YOUNG. Me and my dh were the oldest people EVERYWHERE we went. I took notice.

To be young again...........

www.bobsonrealty.com has apartments in the area your looking for. Several on Joy and Myrtle. If you go directly through them you won't have to pay a fee, they are the realty that owns and operates the apartments!
They are really nice there and the apartments are kept up and you can paint yourself and they will supply materials etc.

There website has a lot of apartments listed right now if you click on apartments for lease, then click on click here to see current availability.
My son just rented one on Joy St owned by Bobson, but had to pay a full months fee to another realtor that showed him the apartment, I wish I had known about going through Bobson's website directly to avoid the fee!!!!
Good Luck!
