I'm going on a Rite Aid side trip!

So I am going to Disneyland in September and I just called a Rite Aid 4.4 miles away from my hotel. They stock Thrifty ice cream . . . Chocolate Malted Crunch here I come!

I am so excited. I am going to take a cooler, buy some dry ice the day we leave and stock up! The last time I had CMC was several years ago when my dh had a convention in Vegas that I tagged along on. We stopped in Mesquite and they had a Rite Aid there (it has since closed) that had the ice cream and we actually bought a cooler, went to Smith's for the dry ice and then back to Rite Aid for the ice cream. We bought 8 half gallons and took them home to Utah. A 6 hour drive and they were barely soft.

LOL My husband and I are originally from SoCal, and grew up on Thrifty's ice cream! We live in Vegas now and recently found a little Snackers gas station/store that sells the Thrifty's ice cream by the scoop. I can't wait to go have some!
Although when I was little you could get a single for 25 cents, a double for 50 cents and a triple for 75 cents. I'm pretty sure the prices have gone up since then!

Oh, can you please tell me where that gas station is? My sister and I will be in Vegas for the weekend before my husband flies to meet me to go to Disneyland and it would be so awesome to be able to take my sister to go get some too. We leaved in Vegas for 5 years when we were younger and Thrifty ice cream is totally connected to that time for us.

Wow this brought up an old memory.

Thirfty ice cream. I chose bubble gum ice cream as I grew older and wiser, because it was twice the treat in one.

I was at Rite Aid today,and there is a 3 gallon tub of Ice Cream to be had for $24.95.
Of course I ordered the Chocolate Malted Crunch, but in a double with Chocolate Brownie.

Also, on an unrelated note, if you are at Sam's Town in Las Vegas, over on Boulder Highway, they serve Thrifty Ice Cream at the buffet!

OMG! I must be old because I remember 5, 10, and 15 cents for single, double, and triple. We have a Rite Aid down the street (Nor Cal) and my kids love it because it is the only place I ever let them get a double. Gotta admit it, I love it myself! Mint chip as the standard and then I really mix it up and get a different flavor each time.

The Rite Aid closest to us in the next city over doesn't sell ice cream scoops. In fact, I never go there because the prices are more expensive than Target and that store looks deserted. There are vast amounts of floor space and not many shelves. I keep thinking it will close but it hasn't so someone must be going there.
