I'm going crazy...

Because I am dying to buy into DVC. I've done the homework, know all the payment plans and even how many points I want to start with. I'm constantly checking the The Timeshare Store to see if there are any new listings. I feel like a kid that wants a new toy and cannot wait for it.

My current situation is both my DH and I are looking for new jobs. So I don't want to start any new commitments until this is settled. I also think about the bills that this money can go toward. We have a trip planned to WDW in Nov, staying at CBR. :yay: I cannot wait to go. Since, this trip is completely planned, I find myself everyday thinking about the next trip. And about different resorts I would stay in.

I just want to purchase a small 50 point contact to start. I really hope I can do this within the next 6 months.

Anyone else, dying to buy?

No, I've already bought in, but I smiled when I read your post. You sound like so many of us who have bought DVC. The excitement, the constantly looking at contracts. Pixie Dust, that you find what you need, soon!!

Hang in there!:wizard:

I patiently waited 7 YEARS to buy in!:scared1: We took the tour in 2001, but we were newly engaged (ON that very trip!) and looking to buy a house. Plus, we planned on having children ASAP so we weren't in a good financial place to make a luxury purchase.

Now, 6 years of marriage and 2 children later, we were ready to start rethinking. We took the girls to WDW and stayed at OKW on rented points. The girls loved it! I rented points again to take them back this October and we are staying at AKV...our new home! We saved and saved so that we would not have to finance the purchase. We found a resale with all 2008 points available that was priced right and had a great UY for us. I also had a friend who needed 100 points in 2009. Since we wouldn't be able to afford to GET to Disney in 2009, he offered to pay me for my points. Cool!:thumbsup2 I got an additional $1K out of the deal. Now, my 2009 and 2010 annual dues are covered.

The waiting really is the hardest part, but it is very important that you do not buy impulsively. You are committing yourself to 50 years of vacations and annual dues. You have to make sure you can still afford it, say, 10 years from now. Just remember, DVC will always be here....at least until 2057!

YES. I am in the same boat. I truly obsess. I read the boards, learn as much as I can, look at the pictures, layouts, maps of the resorts and picture myself there. Rarely a day goes by when I don't think deeply about owning a DVC contract. Where I think I am different than most people is that there is very little else that I want out of life. I don't own a big-screen, my tops aren't granite and my car is not a benz. I own nice things, but they are mostly gifts that I wouldn't buy for myself. HOWEVER, I REALLY want to be a DVC member. Aside from staying healthy, maintaining happy and loving relationships with my family and doing whatever I can to ensure a comfortable retirement, DVC ownership is my next priority. I might just be sick, right?

No, I don't think you're sick, LOL! My hubby and I are just like you. We both have good jobs, make nice money but not great money, and would rather spend any extra we have on our Disney vacations rather than new "things". My car is 12 years old and still going strong, my hubby's car is 8 years old, our house is furnished nicely, but we have alot of "antiques", or in other words, "used". It's all about what your priorities are, and when I'm gone, I'd rather my kids reminisce about what great times we had together at Disney, rather than what nice furniture I had.

I hear ya - I waited for 14 years!!! We first checked it out on our honeymoon, but couldn't do it then, and with each passing milestone of life it began to get closer and closer until finally the day came that we were able to join. It was a good feeling that day when we were able to finally sign those papers.

I don't think you are going crazy at all. However, with the uncertainty in the economy, you might want to hold your cards right now. Not that I think Disney will ever go under, but you never if you might need those resources to keep you afloat in the near future.

Disney will continue to add DVC resorts while demand exists. The economy might slow their pace down a bit, but don't think they will out right stop.

"A fool and his money are easily parted" (not sure who said that originally.)

I'm the same. :)

Last time my husband and I went was just in Feb., we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and we both just adored it. We knew about the DVC, but dismissed it, because, well, it's a timeshare! Therefore it's a ripoff, right?! :)

We went to Charleston this past summer and sat through a timeshare presentation, and it got me doing some deep thinking. We're in our late 40s, soon our 2 oldest daughters will be giving us grandchildren that I'll want to take to WDW, I'd like to try visiting without any kids sometimes... the reasons I'd like to finally buy go on and on!

I keep looking for the resales at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, because we loved it so much, and I know my husband will be less anxious to pay for only 50 points. I am positive he'll quickly want to get more points!
