I'm going! celebration thread

Hopefully some other Photo board DISers will be down there when I am so they can pass along some pointers in person!

We should be there the same time, made the reservations this morning!

Note...be nicer to Laura so she'll help me get to WDW too... :)

Happy planning! For our last trip, I had as much fun (or more) planning the photography aspect of it as I did the actual vacation!

I'll have to check back in a few months to see how I feel about that, but my thought is I will feel the same. I don't know why but I LOVE :lovestruc planning trips, so I can imagine planning my first vacation with my dSLR will be that much more fun. I've got A LOT of reading, a lot of practicing and a lot of planning to do over the next 11 months...that should keep me busy. :rotfl:

Woohoo!! Congrats on the trip. You are going to LOVE it there at Christmas. :santa: :santa: My last three trips there were when everything was decorated for Christmas. I love all the holiday decorations. I havent been there since Christmas '07 and am itching to plan another trip. Since I have been at Christmas my next in line dream trip is for Halloween time

That's great news, Ann!! :cool1: And on the "perfect" day for you to get some good news.....I need some good news like that, too. I don't know about you, but I hit 25 points on the profit sharing, so I would have received a nice chunk of change - would have made a good dent in DS18's college tuition. Oh well....at least we're still employed, right? And instead of a bonus or profit sharing you're getting an extra PTO to spend at Disney!

I've heard rumors that our high school marching band MIGHT be going to Disney again in 2009, and they usually go in December, so I'm hoping we can swing it so DH and I can go down. I don't know if we'll be there the same time you are, but I'll be sure to let you know if we are so we can finally meet!

You are so right. Luckily, I don't have any kids to put through college but when they sent that e-mail out, it was definitely a disappointment. Less money that I can put towards bills and less money that I can put towards Disney! :sad2: Like you said, we're lucky enough that both of us have survived the various axes that have dropped around here and hopefully we'll both be in the clear if there is ever another round.

Good luck with the possible trip in December 09. If you end up going at anytime we'll be down there--definitely let me know, it's be great to meet another DIS'er AND RS'er :rotfl:

Excellent. No travel plans on this side of the computer. Though we do know we'll be heading back to the World sometime in '10. And maybe a big family trip (including my parents, DW's dad & sister and my sister and her hubby) in '13.

Yeah, having 3 young kids and DW having been out of work for the last 4 years hurts the travel budget, but it was worth it.

I may be able to make a weekend trip to Jersey to visit my sister. For now I'll live vicariously through your trip planning. :)

We will be there Dec. 17 - 23. Contemporary MK Theme Park view.

And I agree, WOOHOO!

What a coincidence, we are at BWV! Even got Boardwalk view this time! :)

That IS a coincidence if I've ever heard of one. We requested standard view--had to go on the cheap this year. Maybe if Laura is so kind to rent me her points in the future, I'll splurge for the Boardwalk.

I've seen some of your shots of the Boardwalk and lagoon at night before, I'm going to have to get some pointers from you in the next few months--they were really great. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your upcoming trip! You made me laugh about how you love the planning part, so does my wife. We have our trip/ airfares/ rooms already booked. Wife is currently bummed how Disney changed there dining AP's on when you can start booking them. You could book your dining reservations at the 180 day mark, now you can't book them until closer until your trip. My wife is wearing me out over this. My life is much easier just thinking of the photo opportunities, what camera, memory cards, filters, extra batteries, etc...I'm starting to stress:eek:

I've got to admit, I was pretty bummed about the ADR system changing also. ANYONE can plan 90 days in advance, it takes a real nut to plan 180 days. If you thought it was hard to get a ressie before, it'll just be that much harder now. :headache:

Glad we could make this work the way you wanted it to, Ann. To get you just a little bit more excited... LOL

For DVC members you can book 11 months from the day you arrive. My wife booked us at our home resort to stay in a concierge room for one week and then move to a standard roomfor the second week. Here's the scary part, my vacation time off wasn't even available to me yet. See i work for Frito Lay and we have a bidding process based on seniority and I'm way down the line! I was lucky to get the weeks off that we were booked to go.
Now wife has nothing to do until time to book dining reservations.

Yeah Ann :cool1: . Have fun formulating your "photography plan of attack"! I am actually making a list this time so I don't forget any shots that I want to try. As for the dining ADR's...I just got done booking at my 90-day mark, and it wasn't too bad. However, I was ready at 180 days out...I just had 90 extra days to "tweak" them before it really counted. It is a sickness!!! :goodvibes

I wouldn't mind the 90 day mark if it wasn't for the fact that rumor has it, they won't be releasing park hours until 90 days out now too. Oh well---I don't care. I'M GOING TO DISNEY!!! :cool1:

C'mon now...do you really think I need more excitement? I jumped for joy when you called and I heard the words "standard view" come from your mouth. :lmao:

Love those shots, especially the one of nighttime at the lagoon. Sooooo can't wait to walk out of our hotel and see that.
