OK, there is this song by the rapper, Nas, that he did like 10 years ago. It's called "The Message", on his It Was Written album.

Well I just know he samples a song I've heard of before. From The Police maybe? Anyone willing to listen to it and help me out? I'm dying to know!

Yeah, it's only like 10 seconds long and it plays over and over again. It sounds like a guitar maybe? I heard this song for the first time a few weekends ago and automatically knew I'd heard that beat before.
