I still can't believe what happened to me today. I have just found these boards recently, and haven't read all the threads on codes, etc. except to know I don't have any (or so I thought).We wanted to spend one night at the GF for our anniversary, so went first on the Disney website to see the rate was about $550, then went on the AAA website to see the rate was $450. Well, I stupidly thought that was a AAA discount, not realizing that the AAA price did NOT include tax, and the Disney price did. Turns out it is exactly the same price. Oh well. I made the reservation yesterday, all confirmed.
So then I was reading a couple of more threads today which said that if you call Disney directly, sometimes they can give you the AAA discount. Figured what do I have to lose. Just called and the wonderful CM said "oh, I see you have a better discount code in here for January, February and March dates"...huh? Why do I? I haven't been to Orlando in 15 years.
Guess what the price was? $297 - with tax $334.12!!!!!
Only glitch was she couldn't confirm it since I was coming up as a double booking with my AAA room - well, I quickly cancelled that, called Disney back, and now am confirmed for more than $200 less that what I was resigned to paying! I am absolutely doing backflips
and I have NO idea why I got this code! This is peak season (end of Feb) and I still have no idea how this happened. Just wanted to share my story in case it helps someone else.
