I'm getting conflicting thoughts about my age...

I'll be 35 in a couple of weeks. I went to the liquor store to buy some supplies for a dinner party we had Friday. I didn't get asked for identification. Then yesterday, my wife and I go to see The Watchmen. The guy asks for my ID and then says "Oh, sorry you are older than I thought." LMAO

I'm wondering how long it will be until I don't get carded anymore...

My housemate has the same problem! She went to the local pub a week ago and they didn't ID her (drinking age in the UK is 18, she's 19) but then a few days ago she was ID'd buying a 12 film!!!! Oh yes, they thought she was 11! Seriously they aren't even in secondary school yet, and she is at university. She was seriously insulted!

She must have old and young days! :rotfl:

I am also about to turn 35 and have gotten the "Oh, I'm sorry". I guess they were sorry I was so old. :lmao:

I got carded buying the Godfather at Walmart. The best part was it was the middle of the day during the week and I had my 4 year old with me.

I find I am getting carded less and less.:sad1:

My wife is 27 (yes, yes I am a cradle robber, haha) and the guy asked me if she was old enough. He about got smacked on that one! lol

:rotfl: Oh, to be 35 again and still being carded. Not to worry soon enough, clerks will be asking if you want the senior citizen discount!!!!! :rotfl:

I am much younger, but I find I have the same problem. I went to the store on my 21st birthday, all excited to buy my first alcohol. I didn't get carded! Then, a few weeks later, I was told I didn't look old enough to drive! :lmao: Now that I have changed my hairstyle, I find I don't get the "too young" comment as often, but it was still awkward.

Ha when I turned 18 (two years ago) I went to the store to get my mother cigarettes and they didnt even ID me :(.

:rotfl2: Well there comes a time when you welcome being carded

That's the absolute truth. I'm 43 and got carded buying cigarettes a few weeks ago...I thought it was ridiculous, but I left the store with a little smile on my face. Then on Friday I was with my dad at the same store...he's totally gray and almost 70, they carded him too...come to find out, it's their policy to card everyone. :rotfl:

I feel you pain- I turn 35 in August and most of the time I don't get carded either. The best is when your 45 year old sibling tells you they look so much younger than you - nice huh!

DW and I are 23 and 21...people are always for some reason assume we're brother & sister instead of married. Whenever we tell them that we're married they're like "WHAT!!?!? You both so young.." So then we're both just like well we've graduated college with Bachelor's degrees, live 1,000+ miles from our parents, and take care of ourselves....but thanks. It gets sooooo annoying.

Almost 2 years ago DW was 19 and buying stuff for our wedding and my MIL walked away to look at some stuff and the lady at the cash register asked DW who was going to sign for the purchase and when DW said she was the lady was like "how old are you?!?"

Two or three days later we're at Kohl's buying pants or something and the lady at the register questions DW's purchasing abilities by saying "you're just so little"...I stood there popcorn:: waiting for DW to climb over the register and strangle the lady with whatever we were buying. DW is barely 5 foot so it's not like she's handicapped or anything....we sooooooo should have just been like thanks not let me talk to your manager. lol

Usually after someone comments about how young I am I start growing my facial hair out...lol

This made me laugh. My DH and I married when I was 17. We had our frst DD when I was 19. Back then it annoyed me when poeple made comments about me being so young. Now peope say they can't believe I have a kid in high school and I LOVE IT!!!! I can't hear it enough.

You know what else is weird. 16 years ago DH and I were planning to marry and almost noobody thought we'd make it. Here we are and the wirdest thing has been happening, we have people asking us more marriage advise. Both an engaged coupe and a couple headed for divorce. It's so weird though. Don't get me wrong, we have a great marriage, but when did we get old enough to be the ones giving the advice???

I did get carded today though buying Irish Ale for my Irish DH for tomorrow. It made me smile!:thumbsup2

Both of our parents were completely done having children by the time they were our ages now. So it's like leave us alone we're normal people! I think we work more on our marriage than a lot of people. We're always reading books and making sure we're spending quality time together...WDW is a great place to drive over and spend some quality time together.

What also got me was that people just thought we met in college one semester and got married the next.....we started dating when I was a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL...and she was an 8th grader. We got married after our junior year of COLLEGE....we were together the whole time. The most annoying thing was when we told people we were engaged or just married they would respond with "you're going to learn so much about each other"...and after I got tired of answering i'd just be like yep probably so....but in reality we already knew so much about each other that it wasn't bad at all.

18 years together and 3 kids later, we still have date night. You have to, it's so important! We have been together since I was in 10th grade, so yo uhave us beat. My grandparents though, they have been together since my grandpa told my grandma he was going to marry her in 3rd grade!!!

Our big thing was people told us we'd grow apart. Well we grew, but together. Our marriage is a great one and while it didn't come easy, we learned and grew together. We agreed that the "D" word was not ever going to be an option. If ever we hit a rough patch we'd get help if we needed but would worth through it. Well, we did. Years ago I got postpardum depression. He took me for help, made sure I took my meds, went with me to talk to someone and after I got through it I saw the man I married in a whole new way. There is nothing we can't get through together. Sounds like you are there too, congats to you. Sometimes poeple assume a lot about ages but you know what they say about assuming!

Yea probably the last time someone questioned me about my age was when we were at Epcot on NYE...this guy who was with a group who were enjoying the drinks a little too much began talking to me and asked where I was from and when I said I was a local he was like "ohhhh so you just come out to party with all us tourist...you're such a cool guy." I was just like "I suppose so man." and he was like "so you lived her your whole life?" I was like "No my wife and I just moved here a few months ago." He was like "WHAT!?! WIFE!?? How old are you!?!?" I was just like I'm 23 and he just looked stunned and he was like "you're the same age as me and there's no way I'm ready to be married"

I didn't think he'd appreciate my agreeing with him but I just laughed and prayed DW would hurry up in the bathroom.

:lmao: Well, at least he was mature enough to admit he wasn't mature enough!
