I'm getting a little frustrated

We are having a dessert party at morocco and our guest total is 14 guests plus two babies. I suggested to our planner to use the limo in our escape package to take us from our reception at the st James room to the dessert party and back but this is the response I got:

For the limo, I can use the limo that night if you would like; however you would still need to book a second method of transportation for the remainder of your guests.* Everyone needs to arrive and depart at the same time so the limo would not be able to make multiple trips to a backstage Epcot location.* I can book a chartered luxury van for you to arrive at the BoardWalk at 7:30 pm and pick up those guests that will not be able to fit in the limo (it seats 8 maximum).* The cost for the van charter is $180 for a 3 hour minimum charter.

Why do we have to arrive at the same time, it feels like no matter what we suggest they are just trying to weasel $200 out of us. It just seems like such a waste of money for so few people

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated!

It does seem silly that you all need to arrive at the exact same time, is it a far distance from point A to B? Then I could understand I guess if it was going to take the limo a good bit of time, they wouldn't want the rest of the guests to miss the dessert party, but if its just a hop, skip and jump, then it wouldn't be a problem? I mean what else are you going to use a limo for, if your paying for it you should get to use it to it's full potential. It does seem Disney likes to charge for everything they can, maybe it's event planning period not really sure. I am sorry about all your frustration though!

I'm assuming this has to do with the party being inside the park? Isn't there some kind of guide or some such thing required for guests? Does every guest have a park ticket? Cantfey ger themselves there in some way?

Yes it is crazy, I hope you can find a more affordable option! Good luck!

You can book a one-way van transfer for $25.00! Do that instead! You can even book two separate one-ways for $25.00 each if you want to be able to provide transport back to the hotel. We did that in February.

And by you can book, I mean your planner can book ;)

Just out of curiosity--how many people does this van hold?

I know that my planner (Karen @ just marry) suggested that mears transportation was the least expensive and you could vans all the way up to busses. I believe they do one way transportation too. So you could hire a mears van to pick up the remaining 6 people that won't fit into the limo and it can follow you so everyone arrives at the same time. here is their website: http://www.mearstransportation.com/ I've heard them mentioned by a few disbrides who have used them with success.

The only problem with this idea is that for cars to go "backstage" at Epcot, they must be contracted through Disney. You can't use an outside company that you book on your own when your event is inside a park.

.... and that Mears is the company Disney contracts with for transportation, so you'd have to go through your planner anyway. I like the one-way van idea!

we used a couple one-way vans to get our wedding party where they needed to be. it's totally worth it. You can get an 8 person SUV for $25 or a 11 passenger van for $25. I'd recommend going that route, even if you needed on for there, and one back

We did the 2 one way vans as well from AKL from our dinner reception to "backstage" for our DP in Morocco. Tanis was our planner and she booked the vans for us.

It worked out great! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the responses! I have suggested the vans to her and fingers crossed it will be fine!

its a good job i'm on these boards otherwise i would be spending a lot more money otherwise.
