Actually a little is a lot for me. My stomach is in knots.

Some of you may remember me posting about DDs dimple on her leg. It showed up recently out of nowhere. Never got any deeper, bigger, or changed in color. It bothered me - it was so odd looking, went deep into the muscle, but she never complained about it hurting. Talked to my ped's PA said she wasn't concerned and to keep an eye on it.

We finally got back to the doctor today and my pediatrician is very concerned. He said it was beyond his speciality, but said it looked a lot like scleroderma. He's going to consult with a dermotologist and give me a call in a day or two.

Well I had heard of it but couldn't place the symptoms in my head. Now I'm looking online and found a picture that looks just like DDs scar. Now I'm stressing out majorly. This is a huge disorder that's disfiguring.

Not sure if I need prayers, or hugs, or some reassurance. Thanks for letting me vent...

First rule of thumb is to NOT look on the internet because it'll only freak you out more. I know it's hard not to worry but please try not to. Hopefully your doctor will be able to get you in to see the specialist in the next few days.

Just curious, is it giving her any pain?

Wow Allison. I'm so sorry. I really hope that isn't what her prognosis is. Is he just going to talk to the dermotologist or is she going to be seen? Hopefully once she's seen they'll give you better news. You're in my thoughts and prayers.. hugs to your little sweetheart.

I know! But I didn't really know what it was so had to look it up. And after all the reseacrch I've done on this, it's the first time I've seen someone with the same scar on them.

No she never complains about it. :confused3

I remember the thread where you posted the picture of it.

Try not to freak out! You poor mama. I know I be worried sick if I were you.

Thinking about you and your DD. :grouphug:

I hope it's nothing...hang in there.

 I'd tell you not to worry, but I know that's not possible. Stop googling NOW.

OT: I didn't know you were expecting! Congrats. Relax and take care of yourself and your two babies.

 I know it's hard, but try not to freak out too bad until you know something for sure. I hope it turns out to be nothing at all.

I also remember your post with the picture. I know it's hard, but try not to freak out and imagine what it might be until you hear back from your doctor.

Keeping DD in my thoughts. Please try not to worry too much and STOP consulting the internet.

:hug:I know the worst part is the waiting. He said it was "beyond his area" meaning he is just stabbing in the dark on his guess on her condition.

I hope you get much better news after seeing the dermatologist. (I would be making my own appointment by the way= not waiting for the pediatrician to talk to one)

I hope you get answers quickly!

I have a dime-sized "dimple", like what you've described, over my left shoulder blade. If you look at it up close, you see a slight discoloration, like faded spider veins. It is slightly concave, thus the "dimple" look. When I touch the spot, I can actually feel the bone. There must not be fatty tissue under the skin. It never hurts or anything that would call attention to it. That's the best way I can describe it.

Anyway, I've had it since I was a small child. My mom had doctors look at it and since it never progressed in size or changed in appearance, there were no additional concerns. I'm 44 now and quite healthy. :thumbsup2

Try not to imagine the worst. It may be a completely benign condition.

Boy, do I feel for you. Just got a callback for a mammogram, and I'm a little freaked out too. And this is me, not my child, which would freak me out even more.

Lots of . 8 years ago, we were told my DD probably had leukemia...just needed a bone marrow biopsy to confirm it. We were so sure, and devastated. The bone marrow biopsy was negative. Turned out to be a bone disease (now in remission for 4 years)...a MUCH better situation.

I'll be checking back and praying all is well with your daughter. again. Waiting it tough.

Try not to freak out. I know easier said than done. Here is a link with some informative info.
Pediatric Scleroderma

Basically don't think for a second that it is Scleroderma. It is very rare and your Doctor isnt sure at all. Make an appointment with a pediatric rheumatologist or dermatologist for a proper diagnosis.

Hugs and prayers:hug:

I can offer prayers - and this:

I'll pray that it doesn't turn out to be as serious as it sounds.. Keep us posted as you can..:grouphug:

Big Hugs!! To you and to Scooner!! Hopefully it is nothing and you will find out sooner than later! Please keep us updated!

I actually have scleroderma. There are two types with the one that affects your organs to be the much rarer of the two. If she had this type she would have many, many more symptoms. My dermatologist sent me to a rheumatologist who did some testing and confirmed it was scleroderma. He was not concerned at all and asked that I follow-up with him if it changes or I develop any other symptoms. All in all, he said it was nothing to worry about. I imagine, if your daughter does have scleroderma, she has the same type as me. Try not to worry.

Thanks for that. It sounds similar. I hope that's what it is.

I hope your 2nd mammogram goes well!!

He is consulting the dermotologist and getting me an appt. I know it'll be easier for him to get me one, then to just call on my own. Takes forever to see these specialists! :sad2:

Thanks for this. If she has it, it's the localized scleroderma. Which is better than the rest.

This is the picture I found that looks a lot like DDs scar, but hers is less jagged. I believe this picture is of localized scleroderma.
