Everything ive been reading is baffling me. And calling CRO is the same way one person says one thing and another person says another. Im staying at por on may 17th-25th in a king bed room. My question is: are they closing down those rooms for renovations?

From my understanding of the closing it is only the port orleans side that is closing.

I'm with you Z28wiz about worries over the Riverside, got a great rate of $ 74 (AP) but don't wish to contend with all the refurb. stuff, i guess i will just hope for the best and keep reading this board for any further info, good luck to you (and me !)

I wish I could say it isn't so but it does appear that CRO has played the part of Pinochio because it looks like many of the rooms at POR both in the Mansions and AB will be closing May 3. Reports are they are taking their inventory down to about 1000 rooms at POR along with FQ completely closing. There are other posts on this board that seem to confirm that statement. CRO has stated otherwise but their nose may be growing as we post! My oh my this might be the Disney Magic in reverse!

See my other post... I just called Riverside directly.

Only teen AB bldgs will be open along with Mansions 90 and 95. All other rooms closed down. Only a total of about 1000 rooms available.

Very interesting... :(

Here is the latest info we received. We just called CRO too. Naturally they did the DAH thing and then called Guest Services. Guest Services claimed they did indeed have a list of people to call concerning their ressies at POR but told us we weren't on the list YET! Our ressies are for early June at POR. They didn't say that POR was going to be partially closing in May but here is our take. If they are confirming they have a list to call concerning POR ressies then it must be true about the partial closing. After all if you remember CRO has been claiming all along nothing was going to be affected at POR in the short term. If they have a list and are confirming that then POR must be having a partial closure. After all I think 1 + 1 is still 2 (maybe not with Disney). Anyway that is the latest info I have on POR. Our stress meter just ramped up another notch!

With the closures has anything been said about the service too? (reduction in boat, bus, food service?)
I think only time will tell. Easy for me to say as I won't be going ;) , but I would hold off and see if you are offered something better. at a great rate
On the other hand, we all know from other's posts regarding their stays at various WDW resorts, Disney doesn't think guests should be bent out of shape at hearing construction noise in the early morning hours.

I called CRO also and asked about the closures of 1000 rooms and she acted like she was dumbfounded. I told her we had three rooms requested at Oak Manor and really wanted to stay there (my daughter can't afford to upgrade at this time.)

What I would like is some assurance that the services we receive will be the same and that no construction will be going on where it will spoil our time there. We will more than likely spend more time at the motel with our 10th month old grandson than we be in the parks.

She put me on hold for about 15 minutes and I hung up since I was paying for the call. I was going to write customer services and ask for something in writing. Do you think I would get an answer?

This will be my first stay on-site, and I really was looking forward to POR. We toured several resorts during our last trip, and really liked this one.
The way I see it, we can't lose. If the resort is partially closed, the pools, etc will be that much quieter. If I get upgraded... well... that's not the end of the world either!
I'll just go with the flow!

That being said, I have not heard any official word yet that Riverside will be partially closed this summer. The only official word is that FQ will be closed on May 4.

Nathans Grandma, I e-mailed disney thru their website with my concerns over the renovations. we will be staying at POR June 6-15th. I received a standard e-mail form letter tell me about POFQ, nothing having to do with my concerns. Good Luck

dizkidz2,

It was suggested to me to send a letter to the manager of the POR so that is what I am going to do. I am going to ask him to answer our concerns. I will share my answers if he sends a reply.

I found his name on the boards (hope it is the same.)
