Ive just finished my PGCE at uni.......and now can't find a job! Ive been teaching LOADS :teacher: at the college where I did my placement and I really want a job there but today I found out that the job that is available hasn't even been advertised yet and there have already been tonnes of applicants for it (who have years of experience). Im scouring the jobs pages but there are just no jobs at the moment.

So I'm feeling really sad as Ive worked so hard and I feel like it has all been for nothing now.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm sure the perfect job will come along, just keep looking. Congratulations on finishing your course :) You must apply for that job too. If you have been working for them thats a bonus on your side. Good luck and big :grouphug:

Jen apply for the job, you just might get it! you'll never know unless you apply! good luck :goodvibes

I agree Jen, well done and good luck with the job hunting. Fingers crossed that you get the job you want :wizard:

:grouphug: Keep your chin up. I'm sure you'll find something great is just around the corner :grouphug:

I would apply for the job ~ Just because someone has tons of experience doesn't necessarily mean that they are the person best suited to that job :)

Unfortunately [if it is the same in England as here in Northern Ireland] there are that many people applying for teaching jobs that they have to up the criteria after applications are in because there are so many applicants, we have had 2 jobs recently in our school with over 100 applications for each job , and its not feasible to interview 100 so the criteria increases until it gets narrowed down to about 15 to 20. i really feel for young people coming out of Uni and have to make do with a substitute roll. We have 1 teacher who started about 2 years ago who done her degree in child physcology, she has had to make do with a teaching job as she says she has no chance for the foreseeable future getting a job working in child physcology.

:grouphug: Don't give up and definately apply for the job! You just never know. If it is meant to be, it will happen ... if not, then there is something better waiting for you around the corner. I just went through a 6 month job search and it looked like I didn't have any chance at the job I really wanted. There were several internal candidates that looked good and at this company they always promote from within if they can (I was an outsider). About a month after I thought the job had gone to someone inside, I got a call to interview and before I knew it I had the job I wanted most of all. My point is ... you just never know.

Sending hugs and pixie dust from Florida to you!

Thanks for all the support and nice messages, I will apply for the job but Im not very hopeful!

Best of luck with whatever you decide Jen, :grouphug: to you and Alex
