So I'm currently graduating from being a junior and I'm about to be a senior, after I graduate HS I will be going to culinary school, then hopefully, the Disney culinary program. When I think about it, I get so excited, but it's an entire year and a half away, was anyone else like this? I feel like I shouldn't be that excited cause its so far away. But I wanna see what others think. I suffer from pretty extreme anxiety (in general) and I even get a little anxiety thinking about doing that program which won't be for another year and a half (and even then It would still be a maybe due to the interviews and such).

I was like that in high school. I even freaked out my boyfriend at the time about it with all the "what if I go down there for 6 months and you can't visit" type stuff. I think it shows that you're truly passionate about it and you really want it.

Word of warning, though. Anticipate delays. I was expecting to apply in my sophomore year of college, but then found out my scholarships would get revoked if I did. So I ended up having to wait until now (I just graduated) to go down. So, my advice is not to let it stress you out too much. Situations change (I, for instance, am no longer with said guy. We both got worked up over nothing). Enjoy high school and live for the moment.

I was super excited about it since I was a junior in high school and 4 years later I'm heading out for Fall DCP in August! It's a tough wait, but it's easier when you know you want to do it because you have time to learn about what goes on, how to prepare for the interview, etc.

I have to agree with the previous poster, make sure school works first. I knew I wanted to do the program but not sure when. I didn't decide until August of 2012 that I wanted to apply for the Fall 2013 program. It worked best for me and it still gave me time to get everything in order.

I have been researching and planning on doing the DCP since eighth grade :) The wait is killing me as a high schooler but at least I'll be prepared! I want to apply for Fall Advantage 2016.

It's not weird at all! It's great you're thinking about it and if it's meant to be, it will happen. I went to a CP info session at my university way back in Spring 2009 when I was a freshman in college, but when I realized I wouldn't be able to take a whole semester off I had to put off applying. Here it is four years later, I was finally able to apply in March (I just graduated in May) and I'm going down for the CP in August!

There's nothing wrong with looking forward to it, but like has been said, you never know where life will take you so just be prepared that you may not be able to do the program exactly when you want.

As far as the anxiety, I have struggled with social anxiety and some general anxiety since eighth grade or so. I HATE talking on the phone and situations where I know (or think) I am being judged. I'm living proof that you can survive the phone interview and be accepted in spite of it! 95% of the interviewers are super positive and friendly, and if you've prepared with writing out some questions, you can do it! Best of luck.

Woo! A fellow grad who is a first timer! I was beginning to think I was the only one.
And I definitely agree with the advice you gave for the phone interview. I don't have anxiety, but I was really uncomfortable with talking on the phone too. Practicing answering the questions definitely helped. I also did a mock phone interview with a friend. That was also really helpful because he was able to point out some of my presentation of myself that needed work.
Cicero 10, I think its great that you're excited. But don't let it get you too worried yet. :)

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone! I'm truly excited to do the program, I've done so much research on it!
