I'm Done!!!!

I just have to celebrate! For my Master's in Teaching program I had to do 3 huge portfolios full of work.

Then, for my first year of teaching, I had to complete an internship program that required ANOTHER gigantic portfolio!

Portfolios have been the ball and chain around my ankle for the last 3 years, they are a giant pain in the butt, and NOW I AM DONE!!!!

I finished my last portfolio last night, and turn it in this week. Woo-hoo!!

Mushy, I know just how you feel! Aren't they horrible??

Just bite the bullet and get it done...you'll feel so much better when it's through (this coming from the world's biggest procrastinator).

I know you are student teaching right now (from reading your past posts). Does your state require any kind of internship program for first-year teachers? For your sake I hope not.

No, once I'm done in December, I'm done. I've fulfilled all my requirements for PA, and I just have to pass one more Praxis (which I took yesterday) for WV.

How about you? How much more do you have left after the portfolios?

Well, in Kentucky all first-year teachers (that's me) have to complete a one year internship program. We turn in lesson plans and are observed nine times in that year. We also meet with a cooperating teacher for 50 hours per semester. Last but not least, we turn in a huge portfolio that shows how we've met New Teacher Standards over the course of the year. It's a lot of work!!

I started teaching last January. So, now I'm done (for all intents and purposes) with the internship! All my observations have been completed and the portfolio is complete. Just need to sign some papers and have a few brief meetings with the committee.

It sounds like the end is in sight for you too! Can't you just taste it?!? I hope the Praxis went well yesterday!!

Do you have a teaching job lined up? You're middle school, right? (I swear I'm not a stalker, I just read the Disboards a lot...)

Congratulations!!!! It's a lot of work, but you must feel so good to have it done. My friend is a 2nd grade teacher and she loves it. When she talks about her students each year you can just feel that warm fuzzy feeling. She absolutely loves what she does and she's good at it.

I'm working on Master's too and I also have a portfolio due date on the 5th. Unfortunately, its only for the 1st half of my reasearch proposal. I won't be finished until May, but I can't wait until the feeling of freedom
