I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

We paid off this trip we are leaving for in 4 weeks, but we are done after this trip. Some may say we are being hasty and jumping the gun, but we don't like the non-Disney direction the company is going.

Well ... it's included in your stay if you're staying in the deluxe resorts. Once the new Cabana Bay (moderate / value) opens, you can still have FOTL, but only once per attraction / ride, not unlimited (like the deluxe resorts get). If you're at Cabana Bay and want unlimited FOTL access, you'll need to pay for that.

:earsboy:

I haven't heard that Cabana bay will get a once per attraction express pass. I have only heard that they will be early admission and no express pass.

I just got back from a week there. The magic band was fabulous. I even booked Toy Story Mania the same day for after lunch. Otherwise I would never have ridden it at all. Never had any problems with the band at all. Yet.

From what I understood, Cabana Bay was not to get any front of the line at all. Just early entry.

Nor does it really bother me about the ADRs with all the new lounges opening...

See ya. One less person in the crowd I'll have to deal with.

If THESE are the reasons that you won't visit Disney World, then I think you have your vacationing priorities wrong to being with.

Pointless thread.

This!

It's still virtually impossible to get bog..least it was for our trip in march. Just tonight I tried getting an adr for 1 person for ca grill on Jan 6th (a Mon night) and the only 2 times available were 535 and 930. I booked the 535 for her, but I have already subscribed to the adr cancellation thread to try and pick up a time closer to wishes (8pm that week).

There have always been popular restaurants that have been hard to get inside of 180 days. This is not new.

The problem you are having with California Grill this far inside the 180 days is that almost everyone wants a time that might allow them to see Wishes. That is why the very early and the very late are still available. And yes, it's nothing new.

If you get a reservation at any time during dinner you can have access to the new viewing area at California Grill. You do not need to be lucky enough to be seated at the right time.

Right, but most people like to specifically time the fireworks.

Doesn't seem to make a difference. Everyone still wants a shot at being able to see it without having to get up from their table.

Me, I'm going to be bar and lounge all the way, no reservations.

We were at WDW the first week of Oct, and I have to say I thought the Magic Bands and FPP worked fantastically. The touch to pay system was so easy. The FPP made touring so nice - I scheduled our headliners. We got to the parks at RD each day, but didn't have to do the mad dash for headliners, we were able to enjoy less popular rides as walk ons. My DH was so impressed by the Magic Band technology that he would strike up conversations with perfect strangers about how great it was.

My first trip was in 85. You could get an ADR the same day or 3 days early if in a disney hotel. My early vacations were very relaxing but not any more. Society has changed, its more me me. Disney has changed to needing to get ADRs 180 day out & now they want you to reserve rides. I dont go as oftern, dont do ADR, get counter meals unless something is open at city hall. Lots of the little whimsy stuff is gone, talking drinking fountains & working phone booths is UK. Am I whining probably but also going less, spending less. One of these days it will end because the world will no longer be relaxing. My brothers recent comment shows how 1 former disney nut feels. He asked,
When will they want you to reserve bathroom breaks 30 days in advance?
And i dont think we was joking.

My first trip was in 85 also. The pricing has really turned me and from what I am reading some of the new FP changes and other things will change my used to be yearly ,now every three or four year trips are gonna stretch to once every 5 or 6 years. I love Disney just don't like the direction they are going!

If you are arriving in four weeks, why would you make this statement? Wouldn't you just wait til AFTER you've experienced everything to make your own decision rather than relying on the doom and gloom of a few fueled by the irrational conjecture of others?

Between FP+, not being able to get FP- for at decent times unless there before RD, the changes to GAC/DAS, and the new upcoming ADR CC policy, I really think no more visits to WDW. No longer a vacation. Anybody else feel the same?

No, not at all. Although to be fair, they would probably have to start slaughtering puppies on Main Street before i would stop going to WDW haha

I was there in May before the changes you mentioned. Actually I think the CC charge for not cancelling the reservations was in effect then. However, that never bothered me because I used to work in a restaurant and I understand how "no-shows" can affect the business. We had only made one ADR but cancelled well in advance because we didn't want to waste so much time eating.

The GAC/DAS doesn't apply to me, but if it did, I would be completely fine with the new system. Seems completely reasonable to me.

And I would go to the parks early to take advantage of lower crowds, and secure my headliners with FP+.

Ah... surely you're not suggesting making Tony's a specialty restaurant???

I think more people need to take breaks from Disney. Leaves lots of room for me!!

That was my point...I wasn't saying it was new, I was saying that the cc guarantee hasn't made them any easier to get

US TOO!! My DD and I are in love with the Magic Bands and FP+!!! Worked beautifully - and we did the same thing, scheduled the rides that are hard to wait for (for us: TSM, Soarin', ToT,) and were able to leisurely go to other things without feeling like we had to make a mad dash for those attractions. It's a dream come true for us!! :thumbsup2

You use that term waaaaaay too much. Did you recently just learn it? :confused3

And, you assume too much. :rolleyes2 I have been TWICE since FP+ has been implemented and this will be my third visit. All trips were paid for and therefore I am going. The whole thing is quite a fiasco.

I think that's an interesting point. We're fortunate to be able to travel often as a family. We love WDW, but I'm sure we would go to WDW more often if we found it more relaxing. The pace has always been a bit too frenetic for us, and that's coming from NYC! Don't get me wrong - we've had fun. We can have fun anywhere, and WDW is still totally fun. However, we always felt drained in the end. Our children enjoy going, but they don't ask to go. They ask to go to Hawaii!

Are they excited for our upcoming trip? Absolutely. We're going to have a blast, but we aren't going to be counting the days until the next Disney trip. Not because of FP or MB - we've just never been that way. I suppose we won't want to return anytime soon if this trip is more of a hassle than in the past, although I don't imagine it will be.

It's funny to read the posts on this board over the last few weeks with so many posting "great - don't come! More park for me!" Whenever I read that I think "Yep - more park for you. Enjoy!"

If what ends up happening with the Disney theme parks is that the parks are more enjoyable for the die-hards, encouraging them to go more, and less enjoyable for the non-die-hards, so they go less frequently, then that's really the best outcome for everyone. Disney will make more money off of the "serious" park go-ers than they ever made off families like us who are just looking for a fun vacation. And those of us who enjoy it less will have a fabulous time in Kauai.

Everybody wins.
