"I'm Doing That Again... and AGAIN!" - A May/June 2013 TR

Great updates Marissa!

I love the Royal Rooms, they look amazing. Thanks for showing us all the little details, I would definitely stay there in the future!

Have a great Christmas :)

Aww Marissa I totally get your fear of bugs or at least understand the feeling. I don't have an issue with bugs myself, but SNAKES... yeah I don't do snakes. So if I sub bugs for snakes in your story, I TOTALLY get it.

OMG that is one wild journey. I've never done the buses at DTD either so I would have no clue either.

Those Royal Rooms are GORGEOUS and dangerous to me. I know for a fact I would be playing with the fireworks non-stop!

Aww it's so adorable that all the princesses are friends. :)

Merry Christmas to you too, and YAY for your upcoming Disney trip!!

Yay update!

Hahahahaha. Girl, that's not TMI. If I had been scared of something that much, you best believe I would have run out of there with my pants around my ankles. :lmao:

Uh oh......you made the fatal mistake of not reading the sign on the actual bus huh? Man, that sucks! I agree, the CM should have been more specific by saying that the stop was for multiple. I'm shocked there were no signs though. I could have sworn there were signs in front of the individual stops on the actual "building" part. You were not having good bus luck.

The boat dock is all the way on the other side anyway at DTD.

OMG. I'm sorry to laugh at your expense, but I cracked up when I read your account of slipping at POR. I did that in the Dominican at my friend's wedding! They had absolutely no signs out saying it was wet, I was walking my happy but to the beach with my mom, rounded a corner at the hotel, and was on my butt faster than you could say "slippery!"

I'm adoring all of the pictures of the room. So pretty!

Waaaahhhh!!! We'll miss each other by about 10 days. :worried:

A new trip in the works!!! :cool1: That's always so exciting! And, just my 2 cents, the beginning of May is a great time to go. If I can't go during the holidays, then that time frame would be my first choice. Annnnd, who knows, maybe I'll be there at the same time....

Wow, that photo journey of the royal room was incredible. I really enjoyed the update. You make me want to stay at POR just to check out all those details! :goodvibes
I never knew about the bedspread...talk about showcasing Disney's knack for capturing tiny details.

After the unlucky morning you had, it's good to see your room was everything you'd hoped it would be.

And, I just have to say, I laughed a little at your bug story. Not in a mean way, just in a "Oh, the joys of Florida way."

I will admit, bugs have become kind of second nature to me, because we get them all the time here. I forget that not everyone's used to them.
They can be kind of freaky, though, especially when you encounter one at an inoportune time.

Your incident reminded me of how, the other day, my mother mailed a Christmas box to my brother and sister in-law, and when they opened it, there was a Palmetto Bug inside. My SIL was NOT amused. (That's like a flying cockroach.)

Moral of the story, if you ever think about moving to Florida, invest in a good bug killing company for your place of residence. :rotfl:

Awesome!!! I loved the Royal Room when we stayed there. I couldn't imagine not staying at POR, I love it so.

I'm so excited for your upcoming trip... You are all keeping me sane until I can figure out a way to get back.

I loved reading everything so far! A few pages through, I decided to go back and read your last trip report, the whole thing, and I loved "getting to know" you and your family!

As a DINK 30-something, I enjoyed reading about a no-kids trip (not that I don't love reading about kids, too, I really do) But yours is the first trip report I have read in its entirety! I love your enthusiasm for everything, from the little details to the big thrills. You are making me so excited for my trip in a couple of weeks :) Can't wait to read the rest of this report!

Ahhh, I don't do bugs either!!! I literally was dry heaving the other morning when I came out of my bedroom and found a roach on my kitchen floor!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Thankfully that was only the second one that has ever been in my house (south Louisiana and all...there's just gonna be roaches), but still. Thankfully my uncle had happened to stay over the night before so we could all go to my cousin's graduation, so he was nice enough to pick it up for me after I drowned it in roach spray. ICK!!!!

Okay, enough of that. Your bus story is kind of ridiculous. I was really surprised that, after you being the only one on the SSR bus and not getting off, the bus driver didn't just take you to POR. :confused3 I have always read so many great bus stories of people accidentally getting on the wrong one and the driver just taking them to where they were trying to go. Sounds like you got a dud. I'm glad you finally made it to POR though, because holy moly, what a gorgeous room!!!!

I have seen lots of pics of the royal rooms, but I didn't know that all the stuff in there was supposed to be gifts from the other princesses. I just thought they were doing a mish-mash of stuff from all the different princess movies. Which, I guess, in reality, is exactly what they are doing, they just gave it this totally cool Disney background story. :lmao: But, it really comes together so amazing. I am not even that big of a princess fan, but I would really love to stay in one of those rooms. The headboard is amazing.

I'm glad you survived the bug situation!

What an ordeal getting to POR! What is it with SSR? The bus situation there is atrocious. I'm glad you finally made it there and your room was ready AND a short walk away. The only moderate we have every been to is POFQ and that was just to go to the food court there to have beignets one day. We luckily didn't have trouble finding the boat launch to Downtown Disney either. I can't wait to stay at POR or POFQ one day.

Your Royal Room was AMAZING! I love all the details, thanks for sharing everything!

Yay for a trip in May! We have been in May twice and love going then. I hope you aren't going to keep us in the dark about all the details this time!

I'm not so bad with bugs but spiders :scared1:. I've taught myself over the years to actually kill them as much as it freaks me out to do so. I guess I'd rather get rid of them than wonder where they go to if I don't kill them!

What an ordeal through DTD! For reference next time, the sign that tells you which stop to go to is to the left as you are walking to the bus stops. It's right next to the bus stops but easy to miss because your eyes are drawn to the right where the bus stops actually are. I would also say next time just transfer via a park, the DTD buses are notorious for being super slow!

Those royal rooms are beautiful! I haven't stayed at POR since my honeymoon 15 years ago. I had planned for us to stay there for our trip last October, but there were no rooms available with the free dining. :sad2: I ended up having to switch us to CSR instead.

ETA, whoops I forgot to say Merry Christmas! :santa: Also, I am tentively thinking about a short weekend trip down just for Flower and Garden either end of April or beginning of May. I'll have to remember that you will be there the first week of May if I decide to go then!

Yay, your Royal Room finally! Isn't it perfect? I just love Port Orleans, it's so beautiful, it really is like a deluxe resort! I want to try POFQ today but I feel like I'll have a hard time, knowing POR is just a boat ride away!

And yay for your new trip!!! I love going at the beginning of May, usually the crowds aren't too bad yet. And everyone says it's not that hot, but both times I've been there it's been unseasonably warm, so I'm not sure if that's true...90 degrees is hot to me! :rotfl2: But still, awesome time to go! :dance3:

Caught up! UGHHHH to the BUG! Why did all these things happen to your on your trip?!? If I had to stay in that room, I would've called the front desk, haha, cuz there'd be NO way I would deal with it on my own!

Great update!!!

Your photos make me want to b stay in a total room even more so, now!!! Haha

And I am nit a fan of bugs, I can dispose of them if needed, but ick! I wouldn't want to shower either!!!! LoL

I don't like bugs at all! Love the Royal rooms! Seeing this wants me to stay there! Hopefully we will be able to go back to the world next year. Or that's the plan at least.
