Don't even bother using the free version of Limewire, it will give you so many trojans and viruses that your computer will not be able to run. I hope you do not do internet banking at all... if you do, check your accounts.

Limewire uses the Gnutella P2P network - there are other (better) clients without the bloat and spyware rubbish.

The Gnutella network is infamous for disgusting stuff, including videos of torture, executions and all forms of child abuse.

Needless to say, I don't use it any more.

If you own a copy legitimately, you are allowed one material backup - eg. if you have the N64 game "Goldeneye", you are entitled to a backup copy off the internet; people who abuse the facility are nothing to do with the Limewire team.

That's the argument they use to keep it open.
