I'm curious about the cancellation stats

We will probably cancel our April 18th, but I’m playing chicken right now. Plus leaving my TA to deal with earlier cruisers.

Not me! I am heading out on Sat.... I figure #1... if you do research on the cleanest ships sailing Disney ranks at the top and you know they are deep cleaning that crap out of the public areas every night.... #2... I am sure they have their crew members being checked by medical staff all the time esp if they start feeling any symptoms and not allowing anyone who’s been in affected areas back on the ship without being quarantined for the correct amount of time to see if they developed symptoms # 3.... they’ve already started the protocol of monitoring guest before they are able to even get on the ship... #4 .... they are always handing out wipes/ have hand washing stations/ the sani dispensers before you get back in the ship and they had those in place even before this started so I am sure they are more stringent now.... with all that being said.... I work at WDW.... I have a better chance to contract it there I feel then on this cruise.... I do have my MIL who is 73 and has mild COPD.... she’s the one I am concerned for and I will let her make the choice of whether or not she wants to risk it.... I do respect everyone who is playing it safe and rebooking or cancelling their cruises I hope you all stay safe and healthy!!

We too have decided we are most likely to cancel. We are April 11th, if we sail the school has issued a mandatory quarantine upon return. There’s still thirty days for more developments and a lot has happened in the last week alone. We are waiting til closer to our date in hopes refunds may be issued instead of just future cruises. We just have to ride the roller coaster with all the twist and turns this virus is causing.

At this point we are still planning for the 5/29 Fantasy cruise. I took a peek and didn't see anything that would easily fit into our family schedule over the next 12 months, so at this point I'm hoping that we either can take the cruise or if we can't that DCL will cancel it and have to refund our cruise payment instead of giving us a future credit. (Although I'm not sure what I'd do with $8,800 in Disney Gift Cards right now...…..)

Sounds like ours. Cancel now and lose 50% of the cost. Disney's got to consider cancelling these cruises given the precedent set tonight by the President. That 2 week potential quarantine trying to get back into the US is nothing compared to getting slapped with a 30 day wait just because some country gets added to the list. So wait it out until the last available day to rebook later in hopes that they cancel for a full refund?

We are on our way to PC. This is our last chance before our son is off to university. It's now or never.

I just recounted empty cabins for our former cruise date (3/27/20) and it’s now at 311 empty cabins (up from 249 a couple days ago).

The Dream has 1,250 staterooms, so that means 24.88% of the rooms are available to book (up from 19.92% last time I checked).

And I really think these numbers underrepresent the true availability because there are a disproportionate number of ship sections that have 8 cabins available and there is a pattern to the 8 available cabins.

At any rate, people are cancelling.

We will be cancelling our cruise in early May. Right now we would lose our deposit if we cancel. Just waiting to see if DCL will cancel first but will pull the trigger a few days before we get into 50% penalty territory.

To get a *general* idea about how full your ship is, go to CruiseFish. (I don't think I can post a link here so you'll have to Google it.) It's not exact science, but it will tell you the percentage of *categories* that are available and which ones, but not rooms. So, if one room is available - or 20 - then the category is available. But it gives you an idea, and it may show some movement. Our May Alaska cruise went from 72% up to 80% - I've never seen it so high! We watch for fun, but again, it's not science. If you really want to know you have to count yourself!

But are the empty rooms on the map a good guideline anyway? Everyone who has a *GT rate will get their room assigned, so the rooms that are available to be chosen now, could also be used for those, right?

I have a 3/27 sailing on the Dream. Have not canceled yet because the credit would be no use to me since we are unable to find a date within the next 12 months that works for my family and we would be out quite a bit of money. Keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok for sailing or that Disney makes the decision for us by canceling the cruise. IMO, Disney should give people the option to get a refund, rather than a credit.

That is our same situation for 4/11. Last family trip before college! Have a wonderful vacation! I hope they don’t pull the plug on our sailing 🥺

How do you find the number of rooms? I could use that information to help make future choices.

We cancelled our HAL cruise for 2 weeks from now. We have a portion refunded and a future cruise credit with them.

We have a DCL cruise in June that I'm just waiting to see.

We also have a Caribbean cruise at the end of the year, however that is a wait and see since PIF isn't due for a while. I guess I'll see how Disney handles everything. They either have a future customer or they won't based on the coming weeks/months decisions.

I was going to try and watch the Dream sail away today to just see how many are on board. I'm guessing it will be a pretty empty ship.

Ottawa just announced that any cruise ship with more than 500 passengers will not be allowed to dock at any Canadian port. This ban will be in effect until July 1. It won't allow me to post a direct link to the article here, but you can google for News 1130 and Feds announce flight restrictions, cruise ship ban amid COVID-19 outbreak

Waiting for DCL to communicate that our sailing on the Wonder for May 18 will be cancelled 😭

As we were sitting in the Concierge lounge on the Dream on Monday, I overheard one of the team mention that they had 600 cancellations for the 3/9 cruise. I think she meant 600 people and not 600 rooms though.

I was extremely jealous of the family that walked up to her and was able to rebook their room at a great rate, thus getting in on a last minute B2B cruise!
