I'm considering cancelling my HDD PS because of transportation issues.

The only way to get back to AKL after HDD is transfering at DTD or take a cab. It almost seems like more hassel than it's worth. What do you guys think?

What time are you going? If it finishes while MK is still open, you could take the boat over there and catch the AKL bus. Also isn't there a connection at the TTC anymore? I don't think I'd do the DD thing either.

Hi BVC23! Here's the deal. MK closes at 6pm on 10/30 and our PS is for 7:15pm so we'll probably get out of HDD around 9? Here's the thing, the 999 Haunts Ball is going on at MK that night but I don't know if Disney keeps transportation running for that or not...do you? If it does, we could transfer at TTC instead of DTD. I just don't know enough about the 999 Haunts Ball to know if they're running buses for it.

I just talked to a very helpful CM at Disney Dinning who advised me to wait until we arrive and ask about it then...we arrive on the 26th and can cancel up until the 28th. But, the planner/controlfreak in me wants to have this worked out before we go.

In May we stayed at AKL, one night we had dinner at Artist Point (WL). MK closed at 7 pm, we finished dinner about 8:45 pm. Both MGM and Epcot were open to 9 pm. We took the first bus that arrived (MGM), it stopped at Ft. Wilderness. At MGM we transferred to a AKL bus. It wasn't a hassle, a bit of a ride, yes. We enjoyed sitting, talking, relaxing ect. Took a little less than a hour. Was it worth it for the nice dinner we had? YES!

If you really want to do HDD, I would take the bus to Epcot if you get out around 9 pm, then transfer to an AKL bus.

Btw, we arrive 10/30, staying at Poly & BCV. Can't wait!!!:D

I'm wondering if we will be able to get that bus to Epcot...do busses go to a park thats closed or closing?

I asked on the Collectors Board about the 999 Haunts Ball and boombuggy said the party goers will have to take a bus to TTC then transfer to thier resort buses at DTD too.:( So, I can't transfer at the TTC either.

Jenny,

Try the Tranportation Board. They may be able to help you. As far as busses going to parks as they are closing, they have to keep the loop going to clear the crowds. My impression is that transportation is available for two hours after park closing.

We were in the same situation last month, MK closed at 7:00 and we went to the 7:15 show. We were staying at ASMO, but thats still the same hassle. We exited Pioneer Hall, waited for a bus. That bus brought us to the entrance of FW(I believe thats where we were). We then waited for another bus to DTD. That bus was jammed packed, but we had a great bus driver that made it fun. At DTD we waited for yet another bus to ASMO. Once we got on it, and pulled away, the driver announced he had to make a brief stop(ended up being 5-10 minutes) to change drivers. Then finally after 1 1/2 hrs, we made it back to ASMO.
Did the transportation stink? Absolutely!
Would I do the HDD again? Absolutely! We had such a great time here. I cant remember the last time I laughed so hard(and this was our 2nd time at HDD). I was literally crying during the show. The food is awesome too!
I think if we were to do it again, I would probably spring for a cab ride home though. ;)

I just now posted over there too. Maybe Chip-N-Dale Express will see it and be able to tell me.

CamColt, I really want to go to HDD. We've never been before. That's why I posted here too, was to find out if it was worth the hassle.;) I'm just afraid of leaving a bit tipsy late at night after a pitcher or two of beer and having to deal with all the bus transfers.LOL Maybe I should just get that taxi.;)

Yes, Eeyore2U is right, buses do go to parks that are closing. They keep the loop going. When we arrived at MGM, it was after 9 pm, Fantasmic was going on. We missed the exit crowd.

We did almost the same thing on a prior trip. We went from AKL (Boma's) to Epcot, to POR. This was at about 9:30 pm. The bus drivers said not to worry as they keep transportation going for about 2 hrs. after closing.

We also had HDD scheduled for 11/26 at 9:30 (kinda late with children). We canceled them in order to stay at the parks a little later than originally planned. Plus saved quite a bit with 6 people in party.

Heres some advice....If you do take the buses, dont make the same mistake DH made. Be sure to use the restroom after the show, especially if you are going to enjoy those bottomless pitchers of beer. We had 3 adults at our table, and I dont want to admit how many pitchers we had(plus the original cup each, we were given). When that bus driver ever said we had to make a stop to change drivers & then we sat & sat & sat, I thought DH was going to get up and scream. He was very uncomfortable! ;)
But, like I said it is a great show, corny, but hysterical and we loved the food. We thought the ribs were a little tough, but the flavor was great. The fried chicken was the best Ive ever had(both times). Its definitely worth seeing at least once. Hope you feel the same if you do it.

In February we went to the Hoop Dee Doo 7:15 show. When we got out there were busses waiting to bring people back to their hotel - we stayed at the All Star Music & were brought right to the All Stars. One other time we went to the last show & there were busses waiting then also - no stops to get to the Caribbean.
You could call 'dinning' & ask to be transfered to Pioneer Hall & ask if they still have busses waiting after the shows. To get to the Hoop Dee Doo we just take a bus from our hotel to the Magic Kingdom & then take the boat over to Fort Wilderness. Have never had a problem. I wouldn't cancel your reservations yet!!!!

Thanks everyone! I think I'll hang on to the ressies and if they don't have a bus to take us back to AKL, we'll try the Epcot bus....if worse comes to worse, we'll take a cab.

Camcolt, I'm still laughing about your DH. But I can relate; I think my bladder is the size of a peanut.

We had the same experence as K, P, & J's grandpa. We were there in January and concerned about the transportation both there and back. To get there from the ASMo, we took as bus to MK and caught a boat to FW.Total time about 30 minutes. We had allowed 1 1/2 hour but enjoyed the down time at FW. WE were advised not to take the boat back to MK after the show as the show ended just as MK was closing. We had decided to try for a bus to DD and transfer to ASMo or if we were too tired or the wait seemed to long to just splurge on a cab. WE too came out of the show to find a bus going to every resort. We waited about 15 minutes for all to board and were back at ASMo in less than 1/2 hour. WE stoped just at all the All star resorts. Don't change your PS. It is not that hard to get back and the show is so worth it!!!

We took a cab from Poly to AKL on our last trip and I believe it was about $10.00. Definately worth the $10 to not have the hassle of changes buses etc.

Jennymouse, please don't cancel HDD!!! DH & I were staying at the Caribe Royale in Oct. 2000 without a car and we went to the last show of the night at HDD!! It was such a blast, we wouldn't have missed it for the world. We took a bus back to Wilderness Lodge and then took a cab back to Caribe Royale, cost about $12. The whole night was worth every penny. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks again! Hopefully that magical bus will be waiting for us when the shows over...if not, we'll take the magical taxi.:) Will I have to ask them at Pioneer Hall to call the taxi for me or are there usually taxi's hanging around?

When we came out of HDD there were 6 different buses waiting just for the show to let out. We asked the driver and he said it was the easiest to take the bus to Wilderness Lodge and they would call a taxi for us. I think we waited 5 minutes for the taxi.
