as to what to get DD9.5 for Christmas. Her birthday was difficult, but this is going to be much worse. She's in that inbetween stage, not a young kid but not yet a teenager. I was thinking about getting some shopping done this weekend, but have no idea where to start. Even clothes are difficult now.

How many others are in this predicament?

I have 3 gals..12,10, and 8. I have to wait for 2 lists and one Santa letter 'cause I don't have a clue! I used to shop early, but not anymore.

How about a nice, more "grown up" jewelry box? Or even something like a nice charm bracelet or other trendy "tween" jewelry.

Lip gloss or bath and shower gels are good too. They are mature and make girls feel girly and pampered but aren't TOO mature like real makeup

Gift certificates for music stores, or if she has a favorite clothing store. Kids that age feel grown up and special when they get to pick out gifts themself.

Wow! You're Christmas shopping already?? :earseek: I need to get on your wave-length...I haven't even thought about it yet.

I started 2 months ago!

My Kari is also 9.5. She has already started looking through the newest American Girl catalogue, and has said she would like something from there for Christmas. I will also get her some stuffed pigs (she loves anything to do with pigs!), books - she loves to read, maybe a Build-a-Bear Certificate, and maybe a Polly Pocket or two... she still pulls out the huge tote of Pollys she has and plays with them now and then. I might get her some clothes too.

We're thinking MP3 player and DDR for Playstation.

Does she have any particular hobbies? My neice is really into science, and I sometimes get her science experiment kids from the discovery store. Last year her mom, (my cousin) got her a nice telescope.

My son is 8 and he already has his Santa list started. I know for my nieces at that age some of the requests were American girl stuff, CD's, and DVDs, other than that I really don't know.

I thought about an mp3 player. I know she'd love it and definately use it. (Not like that $100 hummer she had to have last year thats been sitting in a corner for months. lol)

How about a pony? :p

Seriously, does she have a manicure set? or do you have a discovery store near you? They have cool stuff for kids her age (and mine)

Oh my! We bought the hummer last year for our daughter, and she only played with it maybe twice:rolleyes: My DD will be 11 in less than a month, and we have no idea what to get.....she wants an Ipod, but I think that too much $$$

My dd loves when I get her gift cards to her favorite stores. Then she can go and pick out anything she wants. It makes her feel grown up, like she has a credit card--plus she has to pay attention to price. And she's become much more aware of how much clothes cost.

Games, bath products, craft kits are all big hits as well.

Just out of curiosity, would you consider asking her? November's too late to ask people what they want. Then it's such pressure coming up with something! It'd be so much easier to know that someone's shopping early so that you can start dropping hints in July. ;)

BTW, I'm far from my teen years now, but my parents got me an ipod for my last birthday and that was probably the best gift I've gotten in ages. I love it, and I think the ipod minis are pretty reasonably priced now.

Just got a great catalog...very cool stuff

www.mindwareonline.com

Also Gamewright makes some great and different card games...slamwich, rat-a-tat-cat, suds etc. Used to be at smarterkids.com.

get her a cell phone...:duck:

Is she into Game Boy still?
My DD is only going to be 7 but she has a ton of games she wants..
Does she have a boom box?
maybe some cd's..?
A Walkman?

Good Luck..
