I'm claustrophobic -- should I ride Mission Space?

Yes the window definately helps BUT there is a brief moment when they first close up the container that there is nothing on that screen. It is brief but just enough time to freak me out.....
But my 65 year old mother rode it this week and had no problem.

NO NO NO!!! I too discovered my claustrophobia on this ride. Stay far away from it!!!

I would say if you are claustaphobic do not ride. I could not believe once they closed up the "pod" how close everything was.

 :headache: :crazy2: this is how I felt afterwards! I guess everyone has to make their own decision. :confused3

Once when I rode Mission Space another guest got on with her friend and she was claustrophobic. She pretty much screamed as soon as the doors closed and was panicky. She screamed for them to open the door, but of course it was too late, she was going through the ride. When she got off, she was shaking sooo bad. She then mentioned to her friend that when her and her husband bought thier house, she made her husband redo the upstairs bathroom as she got claustrophobic in it.
So If your claustrophobic, I would recommend skipping this one. I still think of this lady every time I see the preshow warnings about if your claustrophobic.

If you go to mousetimes (dot) com and click on multimedia, there's a place where you can view a video of the ride and see how tiny it really gets. I'm pretty claustrophobic myself, and I almost freaked out just seeing the thing on the computer.

Be forewarned...We took a friend who is prone to headaches and has mild claustrophobia and it ruined her day!!! The other 3 of us loved it but she was truly sick and freaking out. I looked over at her during the ride and just felt terrible for her. They do blow cool air directly at you which helps but it is a TINY space and even those who don't typically have trouble with motion sickness may have it on this ride!

Honestly- if you're in doubt, skip it. Panic attacks are not fun and will ruin your day.

I personally loved MS, but I would never encourage my husband, who is claustrophobic, to try it. It's just not going to be good for him.

I have no problems with claustropobia or motion sickness. Last month I rode Tower of Tower and RnR twice in a row each with no problem, I could have done it again. But I hated Mission Space. I was disoriented for about 2 hours. I hated Back to the Future too. Simulators are just not my thing.

I agree.. had the exact same feeling. This was the worst couple of seconds which seemed liked minutes.

Thanks for that tip -- I checked it out and it does look pretty tight in there. I think I'll probably skip it!

The first time I rode it I literally lost my mind, screaming for the mercy button (there isn't one). What happens is the ride is pretty small to begin with but it looked manageable until you get tipped back. The space then gets cut by another 25 percent, and the bar comes down on your chest. YIKES. However, I had to ride it the next year just so I could prove to myself that I could do it. I did and the second time around I didn't scream. I'm glad I did it both times, but I will never do it again.

After riding MS (and after taking 2 dramamine) I still felt woozy and just "not right".....the ride ended just in time too because I was just about to get sick and or freak out. The only thing that saved me was the cold air blowing on my face. After leaving the ride I felt "unsettled". I had to drink a "real" coke and sit for a few minutes. I never drink a real coke, but it helped to settle my stomach.

I will never ride it again. I found myself not enjoying the ride because I was concentrating on not losing it!

I wouldn't do it. There's no way out if you start to panic. You will have to endure three or four minutes in very tight quarters. You are also warned not to close your eyes or look to the left or right or you may be become disoriented. Actually, I'm not sure how much more disoriented I could have been. I felt like I was in a scene from "A Clockwork Orange" if you've ever seen that. The whole time I struggled not to lose my lunch. When I "landed" on Mars, I prayed that they would leave me on Mars so I wouldn't have to endure the ride back. Luckily I didn't have to go back to Earth. If this is what spaceflight is really like, I'm sticking to Earth!

Just back..my g/f said she would rather give birth again than go on mission space again...so I would say...um..NO :firefight

I was nervous and the kids were a bit nervous but it was a blast. Not too bad. Everyone coming out looked good, I saw no one looking sick at all.

Do not do this attraction if you are chlaustrophobic.

There is even a warning said quite a few times before you get on.

Honestly Im not even bothered by tight spaces and nearly freaked out with the enclosure of this ride the first time. IM fine now but, if you have issues with this, I would NEVER imagine doing this attraction.

When that front wall moves to you and closes you in, you are literally snugged in, even at your face.
