... AND a nearly-finished new kitchen :D

What a stressful week it has been what with all the mess in the house and the free internet withdrawing it's services

Today we have just joined up with AOL and up to now it seems to be working fine, so fingers crossed! It is so nice to know that I won't get thrown out every hour like I used to do on the free internet :D

Things are going fine with the kitchen so far, only problem we have had is that the waste bin supplied wouldn't fit into the cupboard, so we had to go out and buy another one, so I can't really complain if that's the only problem we have!

It will be finished on Saturday and I can't wait to get in there and get all my new 'accessories' on those lovely beech worktops! :D

Good to see you back again Mazzy :D ... and to hear that things are going well in the kitchen!! Let us know when it's finished, we'll all be round for dinner :) ;)

Great to see you again Mazzy

I'll get Shirley to pick me up on her way for dinner :D :D :D

Isnt it exciting when you get new "rooms!" ;)

Don't forget me on the way too Shirley!!! The kitchen sounds lush!!! Any Disney touches? I always have a few disney bits in the kitchen like a clock, tea towels and mugs etc.

Hi everyone

Well Janice and Shirley, you obviously haven't tasted my cooking have you? ;)

I am hoping to get some Disney touches on our trip in December. I've never bothered before as the kitchen wasn't worthy of them as it was so grotty, so watch out the Home Store in DTD! :D

Sorry to say though, that although the kitchen is 'finished' - it is not! We have had a bit of a catastrophe with the tiles. We had decided to keep the original tiles as they were sound and just get some extra to 'fill in the gaps' and then I would do some stencilling to brighten them up. Well, talk about best laid plans

We bought the tiles from B&Q, just plain white (or so we thought!). When the tiling was finished I walked in to have a look and guess what, the new tiles used to fill in the gaps are white, but are not flat, they are 'tortoise shell' ie have a slightly bumpy surface. We just didn't notice this when we bought them, it only shows if you shine a light on them, so now we have a lovely new kitchen with half flat tiles and half tortoise shell which looks absolutely awful! The fitter didn't even notice until I pointed it out to him, that's men for you!

So, as the fitter didn't have time to do any more tiling as he has another job to go to, we have another builder coming round on Monday to give us a quote for re-tiling. I guess this is what happens when you try to economise

Other than that, the kitchen is great, so hopefully in a week or so I will have tiles worthy of the kitchen! :D

Mazzy ive just had my new kitchen put in 2 weeks ago, also new windows and new laminate flooring in the dining room, like you ive had loads of mess, it'll be worth it in the end i can assure you, ive just got a butler sink and solid wood work tops, and had the tiling done in diamond shapes, it looks absolutely excellent, hence why we arent having a holiday in WDW this year, not much change out of 10K!!!!!!.
you soon forget about the mess!!!

Jules

Hi Mazzy - sorry to be so late coming to the thread :o

I hope you'll be very happy with your new kitchen (and ISP!) once you've got everything the way you like it!
