Hey everyone. Returned yesterday from our Orlando vacation. Had a great time. I was glad to get home, but am already planning on next Orlando fix.

We had several overcast and rainy days and I prayed for 10 more of them. Without the sun shining full blast and a breeze in the air, the parks were actually pleasant for a summer's day.

Crowds were present, but thinner than I was expecting. We usually travel to Orlando in May so I was expecting more of a summer crowd, but it wasn't too bad, especially with the FOTL access ;)

We took a diversion over to Sea World one day. The kids enjoyed it. I can't say that we will make this a permanent stop in our vacation each year, especially given the fact that Sea World is only a 4 hour drive for us to San Antonio. I was glad that I was able to sneak a ride on Kraken though..... :cool1:

We dined at Hard Rock Cafe - service was horrible there and the food wasn't that tasty this time. We had not had a bad experience here before, but they were clearly understaffed for the number of people seated in the restaurant. We also ate at NBA City - still continues to be my favorite restaurant on City Walk. We ate offsite for the rest of meals including my favorite Japanese Steak House, Kanpai of Toyko (we ate here 4 times in two weeks... yummmmmy). We eat here many times each visit and it absolutely is the best Japanese Steak House I have been to, anywhere.

I am happy to answer any questions.....

Glad you had a good time. We have never had much luck at the hard rock when we ate there, and considered the food and service marginal at best. When we went in August last year, the water rides and air conditioned shows really helped us beat the summer heat, but that was with the FOTL so we weren't waiting to get on or in them.

Glad you had a great time Dagny, and I don't mean to steal this thread but Prince Eric 1.....I was wondering how the crowds, weather, ect. are in August? We have been on July 4 and over Thanksgiving, but planning our next trip for 8/21-27. Thanks for the info!

Bill: Funny you should ask about Fear Factor :rotfl2: ..... our travel party consisted of me, DH, DD (14) and DS (5) our friends and their kids DD (14) and DS (16).

I don't watch Fear Factor and had no desire to see it at Universal. DS had been waiting patiently to ride "something" since he wasn't tall enough to get on the Mummy and the teens wanted to go to Fear Factor Live so we decide to split up..... now, just imagine this..... :) :) :)

I am in line with my 5 year old son for Men in Black, the phone rings.... it is my husband advising me he has just signed a release for our DD to participate in the show and I need to get my rear end back over there quick. My first thought is why did I leave her alone with THAT man, LOLOLOL, but I do not panic. I ride MIB with DS and *then* race over to Fear Factor. I am seated in the section where they put all the participants and their families.

First stunt: group of contestants - about 8 people who are competing for a theme park pass of some type. This group is all adults and they have to complete three rounds, winner takes all....

Second stunt - lady gets strapped down and bugs are put on her head. She manages just fine and wins a small prize of some sort.

Third Stunt (here we go): My friend, her daughter and my daughter get up..... I will now point you to my friends website (I haven't gotten my pictures up on mine yet) which can detail the rest of the story quite well....

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page and then go to Page -3-

The lovely concoction you see the host preparing is a mixture of sour milk, dog food (we guessed by the smell of it), raw clams and of course, BUGS. The picture you are NOT seeing is my DD (the one in light pink) putting the cup to her lips and proceeding to puke. I nearly puked just watching this stunt... honestly, I gagged to the point of turning my head so I wouldn't throw up on my shoes.

Now, DD's friend not only drank hers, but she drank her Mom's and my DD's.... and for what you ask???? .... a stinkin' T-Shirt. What is dissapointing, is the other family you see pictured actually did it faster than she did so they won the T-Shirts and our poor girl got NADA (so, of course, we purchased the girls the stinkin' T-Shirts).

If you like Fear Factor, then you will like this show. Personally, I wished I could have skipped it.....

Momnum1 - crowds in late August will be much lighter compared to late June, July or early August. It will seem like heaven compared to the 4th of July!! It will, however, be hotter than hades so definitely be prepared, its gonna be a sorcher!!!!

OMG-this is the first I had heard of the fear factor attraction. That is a tad over the top that they would give people that to drink. I have a weak stomach & would be hurling as well. I can't even watch the show as I find the stunts well they are not all fearful but gross/disgusting. All for a tshirt hey-gawd.

Dagny, thanks for the Fear Factor Live review. The participation sounds like it would make a funny vacation story.

I don't think I would drink something that smells like doggie doo-doo for a t-shirt. If they offered two t-shirts, then I'm first in line!

Yuck! But that does sound like fun! Great pics by the way!

Sounds like fun? I might have some old dog food for you SH! :rotfl2:

The crowds the last week of August last year were quite small. The last day we were there everyone was at Universal and IOA was empty. I'm not sure if we actually needed the FOTL, but there were definately times it came in very handy and I wouldn't go without it.

Now back to the thread, A TSHIRT? I think I would pay more than the cost of a tshirt to not drink the stuff. Put the bugs on my head, snakes, scorpions, whatever, but I'm not drinking or eating any bugs. BLEAHHH   :crazy2: :crazy2:
