I'm at one of those pin "low points"

I'm sure a lot of you have been there...

I'm tired of all the hoarding, the bad traders, the hypocritical comments (not on this board), the pretend friendships because someone has what you want, and the feeling that if you dropped off the face of the earth, no one would notice as long as you don't have any pins they need.

Turning off the TA for awhile while I think this through....

Sharon - been there , done that...that's why I eeeeeeeBay.

It's much easier to buy the 1 pin that I want than maintain a collection of traders someone may or may not even want.

I can understand that feeling, really I can. I can add the thread-killer aspect and I would be right at home. Personally, I would blame it on the heat.

I know for a fact that you are well loved as a pintrader and lotsof people would miss you if you were to drop off of the boards!

As for trading, it seems to come and go. I turn my trade assistant off from time to time (but mostly because I have few traders) and sometimes we just need to step back and remember it is about fun, yes fun!

Hang in there, lots of people go to Disney this time of year and will be getting something you want.

(PS don't make any trades you don't want, even if you accidently sent out a trade request (or someone you know).

Been in the dark hole myself lately. ;)
JudithM bought me some pins at WDW this week. That perked me up. :smooth:
I think there are many phases, and this is one. I know like me, you have had some frustrating (bad) trades. That continually happening takes it's toll.
It's nice to take a break now and then. And this is a good time of the year for it. Just don't abandon us! ;)
Hope to see you in chat tonight. :)

Sharon, we have been there too - it is good to take a step back and look in other directions - then when you come back to it, you have a new enthusiasm! Caroline

So, what pins did I buy you this week :)? We haven't even unpacked the car, so I don't remember. Remind me again which pins you wanted besides the Nemo ones we discussed.

Sharon, I understand the "low points." Even this week at WDW I didn't see too many pins on CM lanyards that I don't already own. I bet I traded less than two dozen pins in six days. Most of the CM lanyards had dwarf head pins, TDS Pooh Santa pins (I almost started to collect this set, but I'm not much of a Pooh fanatic), other TDS pins, old rack pins, etc.

Yeah, I've been there on my last trip to WDW. I was desperately searching for traders (the human kind) and found only 1, who quickly brushed me off b/c "her pins were only for display, no trading and she hates to trade".... arrrrghhh..

You still have your pinpals! :teeth:

You can't turn us off! We're like bad pennies, we just keep turning up.

We don't care if you trade pins, hoard pins, stick pins....we just like you because you're fun. :D

And if you decide to start trading again, we'll be here for you then too. :teeth:

And we'll even pinshop for you when you're in the black hole of pin funkdom.

So, I'm going over to Pinpics right now to check out your trades and wants. . . Just in case the funk isn't well-rooted, and I have a shot at pulling you out by your pin back. ;)

Sharon--I can sure relate to this.

There are so many Tinker Bell pins coming out too, it's hard to keep up and I am finding I won;'t be able to get everything.

Keep your chin up......we have all had to take a step back and put the pins away for a bit.

When you come back, you will be ready to go and be the trading maniac that we know you can be. :)

Whenever you come back......we'll be waiting. You know you can always find friendly people here and on Dizneypins.

Sharon, there are several people on this board (thank you Joy, Robyn, Kathie, too many to mention!) who brought me back from the brink in the beginning when I almost quit several times (which of course is why now it's such a joke when I say "I'm getting out of pins"!) But I really meant it back then; it was so frustrating for so many reasons, many of which you mentioned. I hate the hoarding, the bad traders, and the ridiculously unequitable trade requests, and people not wanting to trade because your pins "aren't good enough", but I would miss my friends terribly, and I tell myself they would miss me too.......???

I have to say though, that I don't think anyone has pretended to be my friend to get a pin they want, because I don't have any they would want!!! LOL!! Seriously, I know we know some of the same people and I can't think of any of them that are artificial in the friendship they have offerred..........who have you been hanging out with?? Some friendships have become closer than others, but all have given me good times and kindness and generosity, and in all the years we have been going to Disney (annually) not once did I have any conversation of any length with anyone other than my family members, and most definitely did not make any friendships, casual or otherwise in those 9 years--that has to say something about pin trading!!

Keep your chin up--take a break if you need one, we're not going anywhere (way to addicted) and feel free to email if you need to talk to someone on a more personal level

;)

Sharon things change as time rolls on. I have been in the place you are and in a way still am. I have collected for 4 years now (pins) and while I still do I have trimed my collection down and now only really want like 15 pins or so to complete my Disneyana convention set...

But even in the lows one thing has remained constant... The friends. And when it is all said and done. I will always have them.

I was there recently.
I stuck my toe in the trading waters and met a few more real nice traders. :)
It's meeting the great people from all over that is the real plus. :)
There are stinkers. And from two good people I know another bad trader is on the loose.

Sharon,

I'd miss you if you fell of the face of the earth (even if you don't take any pins with you). ;)
