DH and I are leaving tomorrow for a quick 3 day trip to WDW with no kids! I was printing my boarding passes, car rental, etc. this morning and somehow accidently cancelled our car rental with Alamo. I called the 800# and of course they will do nothing except rebook, and again, of course, it is now double my previous rate. I can't believe I did that!!!!!

Well look at it this way. You've probably gotten all the bad luck out of your system, and you'll have a magical trip from this point forward. :goodvibes :grouphug:

LOL! Thanks! I'm just glad it was only a 3 day rental that I cancelled and not one of our normal WDW vacations of 10-12 days!

d'Oh! I hate doing stuff like that!
Have a magical trip.

Do they really make it that easy to cancel by accidentally pressing the enter key without doing anything else pro-actively?

If so I would not call you an idiot.

Are you staying on site? Quick! Call Magical Express, toll free 866-599-0951.

If it's anything like the National site, yes, EVERYTHING is much too easy to do. One mouseslip and you can make a "one-step" reservation without even seeing the rates. Or accidently hit the "continue" button instead of the "go back" and bang -- you have a reservatiion. These are easy enough to cancel right away though. Likewise with canceling -- it is one of several similar buttons. Unfortunately there is no way to "cancel" a cancellation.

I agree its very easy to make the reservation - I made on for this weekend and I thought I was just checking the prices - next thing I knew I had a reservation!

I accidentally canceled a car reservation with National. I emailed them and they reinstated the reservation with the same rate. I know you already called, but try emailing, it's worth a try!

I understand what you're saying. Three months ago I reserved my car for $286. Same car is now $576!!! That's $290 more! Crazy...I only want to rent it...not BUY it!

Hope you have a safe, funfilled trip. Maybe your next "surprise" will be a Magical Moment from a Dream Squad. :wizard:

I'm an idiot too...this morning I discovered that when I rebooked a flight for next month to get a ding fare, I booked the return on the wrong day.

While I'm glad I discovered it before getting to the airport, I'm pretty sure that the fare I paid today to fix it was more than my pre-ding one, which was on the correct date.

I cancelled myself once without even knowing it. When I showed up at the counter they got a perplexed look. I told the lady that all I tried to do was check in early but was told my reservation wasn't able to do that. She honored the reservation and the rate. She said it happens a lot more than you'd think.

If you belong to Emerald Club with National, you can check your reservations online, and I assume there's a way to do it with Alamo as well. When you log in there is an item called "My Itineraries" on the left side. It's a real good idea to do that before you leave -- there might be a surprise!

I agree skip the car rental and do ME(provided your staying on grounds) if not go to priceline but be sure everything is entered correctly once you buy it you own it

Two years ago, I had two Alamo reservations for a Las Vegas trip. I cancelled the wrong one. It wasn't that devastating - only a difference of about $20, but hey, that could be spent elsewhere...
The instant I did it, I called Alamo. No go. I VERY politely asked to speak to a supervisor, first stating sincerely that while I was sure that person wouldn't be able to help me either, it was my own stupidity, could I please try? I got transferred three or four times - all very nice people - and somebody ended up calling the Las Vegas office, where a manager approved reinstating the "good" price. Oh, rats - I still owe him a pizza!
