Let's see~~~~ Teachers, coaches, bus drivers, ccd teachers, girl scout leaders, boy scout leader, mailman, ups man, garbage men (3) hair dresser
($20) , newspaper lady, and 2 kids grab bags.

I had to draw the line this morning at Yoga class, when one of the women was taking a collection for the yoga instructor

I could have bought myself something nice.

I hear you. My younger daughter has not only a classroom teacher but also aides and therapists (a team of about ten wonderful people I want to acknowledge). Let's not forget the piano teacher, crossing guard, drama teacher, dance teacher, etc. etc. It does add up.

Sing it, sister.

Today spent $80 at Dunkin Donuts drive thru, I now have a purse full of gift cards for 7 teachers and 1 babysitter.

That is why I spent all day yesterday making Oreo Truffles. Between teachers and coaches my boys had 15 people to give gifts to. My friend and I split the cost and the work. It ended up costing $2.50 a gift and everybody loves them.

Amen!

Remember the thread about the $10 for the teacher or the child's name wouldn't be included on the card?

DGD had to bring in her contribution for her teacher's gift today.. They were requesting $2 per child - with NO threats of names not being included on the card if the child didn't participate.. And believe me - this is not a "poor" area.. They don't even have a breakfast program - because no one needs it or wants it.. Glad to see that her home room mother wasn't like that one on the thread..

Right now she is out getting her "Secret Santa" gift - and instructions were that it must come from the Dollar Store..

I guess people around here are paying attention to what is going on with the economy and making reasonable requests.. I've loved this school district from day one - and now I love it even more! :thumbsup2

I think in this case, a card would suffice, but that's just me!

I hear you on the $10 thing; it seems that we are "expected" to give gifts to everyone from our mother to our third cousin once removed's step-grandson to the mechanic who fixes our car. It all adds up!

For those with a lot teachers, aides, etc. you might think about making a contribution to the local children's hospital or another children's charity in all their names. It can be as much or as little as you like and it goes to a good cause, rather than on a shelf or in a tummy.

Just a thought. I've done it a couple of times.

Where's mine? You forgot me. :goodvibes

I thought mail carriers were not able to accept gifts.
--------------------
It's always been my understanding that they could only accept edibles - cookies; candy; donuts; etc. - and if they were caught accepting anything else, they would be fired..:confused3

I am so with you on this. I keep forgetting to get the Karate teachers something so I guess I will be running out this weekend. I have no idea what to get them either. :confused3

ummm, you're not done yet, Missy. How about all your good internet friends:rolleyes1 I accept all major credit cards and PayPal for your convenience, cause I'm cool like that:)
