I'm all booked!

I called yesterday and booked my 2 nights at FW-partial hook up and requested 1500 loop. I called my mom last night and told her my wonderful plan of me (without DH) taking the kids DS7 and DD12 to FW and tent camping for 2 nights. Her reaction...

"WHAT! are you crazy???" "why would you want to do that?" "why can't you just stay in a hotel?" "Is that even safe?" "Oh just you wait til your father hears about this!!!"

She succeeded in making me feel 13 again. Now she has me second guessing my decision. Please give me some reassurance here!

On a side note - I have found FW to be very safe!

You will have a great time. As I have found out Disney is a very safe place. Fort Wilderness is also very safe. The kids will have a great time. Use common sense in FW and there is no reason to worry. Now tell your mother she is just jealous she isn't joining you...... Have a wonderful trip and don't forget your camera.

"WHAT! are you crazy???, you didn't book 4 nights?" "why would you want to do that, you're going to have so much fun with your kids?" "why would you just stay in a hotel when there are bunnies all over the 1500 loop waiting for your kids to feed baby carrots to?" "Thankfully you'll be just as safe there as you would be on the next outing you take with your kids around town (considering you go someplace normal that doesn't have gangs and such)" "Oh just you wait til your father hears about this, he'll wonder why I didn't take you guys on a lovely adventure like that when you were kids!!!"

Half the time, my wife and I don't hardly tell our families about our camping trips. We'd rather stay in our camper than the top floor of the Contemporary. Even if money was no object. But of course some family and friends think we're crazy.

What's important is you and your family are excited. Have a fantastic time. Our trip to the Fort last year was by far the best vacation I've ever had in all my 40 years.
