Pinkbounc :flower: :sunny: I can't believe this...we just booked back-to-back on the Wonder. We'll be in a Cat. 10, same room for both the 11/23 and 11/27. These will be Wonder cruises #5 and 6!

This solves the problem of whether or not everyone is coming to my house for Thanksgiving...I won't care, I won't be there! I'll be having turkey (actually, I hope I'll be eating something else, I'm not a big turkey lover!) after a day at Castaway Cay!

Beth

Doing the "weekly bump" for this one, too!

Come on, don't be shy! If you're going on either of these cruises (or on both  ) check in now!

Beth

Doin' the weekly bump!

Come on, if you're on this cruise, let me know! Although it might be a lot of fun to cruise with just DH!

Beth

Hmm, I guess DH and I will be cruising alone this trip! I think I'll ask for a free upgrade to one of the Category 1 suites. I don't care which one, really!

Beth

Bump!!

This is a very lonely thread! Will DH and I be alone on this cruise?

OK, it's very obvious that DH and I are the ONLY ones going on this cruise! I guess that means I can eat in Palo every night!

Beth

I'm going to love being by myself on this cruise! Just me and DH--do you think we can get more than one reservation at Palo?

Beth

My goodness! It's only a little bit more than six months away and I'm STILL alone on the ship! Well, I'm alone with DH and the crew!

Beth

Hi Beth,

I guess you'll have company after all on 11/27 on the Wonder. This is my first cruise ever with my husband and son 13 and daughter 9. But we won't be alone either. We're travelling with 3 other couples and another 2 boys aged 12 and 10 and a 19 year old girl, I understand. I can't believe Judy hasn't posted yet, she is usually way ahead of the rest of us. What's up Judy??

This will also be the first time to Disney for my family and one of the others. We can't wait........well the DH (it took me a while to understand all this DH, DS stuff) is not as excited as the rest of us, but we're working on him.

We're all doing the 3 day 4 night Land/Sea Adventure and actually fly to Disney on Thanksgiving Morning. We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Not sure what our staterooms are....will have to look that up.

So any tips for the first time cruisers then??

Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite resort. DH (Jim) and I are heading there this Friday for four nights, planning to attend the Flower & Garden Show at Epcot, celebrating Mother's Day, Father's Day, my birthday and anything else we can think of to celebrate!

My best tip for first time cruisers is to realize that you can't see it all and do it all in four nights! It's a vacation (although a rather expensive one), so relax and enjoy it. The ship is beautiful. Take time to walk around and just enjoy it. Don't let these boards build your expectations too high, that way, if something unexpected does happen, you can go with the flow and relax and enjoy. There's always something to do, even if the weather turns nasty!

Make sure you use plenty of sunscreen! Even in November and December the sun is very bright, and you can get burned on a cloudy, overcast day, too. Don't leave your room without "gooping yourself up" as my granddaughter says.

We've been assigned to room 2601, which is a Category 10 room on Deck 2. We had a Cat. 7 with a Navigator's Verandah last time, and that was very nice, but we really didn't use the verandah enough to justify the cost for us this time. We really liked the split bath, though!

We're a party of just two adults, and we'll already be settled on the ship since we will have just finished the previous four-night cruise, so as the time gets closer, I'll try to coordinate a meet, since I won't have any unpacking to do!

If you have any questions (about the cruise, WDW or Port Orleans Riverside), don't hesitate to ask. You can post here, you can PM me, or you can reach me by email.

I'll be posting lots of pictures of the resort next week!

Beth

Hi Beth,

Just wondered if you had a good time at Port Orleans Riverside??

Briege

We had a wonderful time at Riverside. It's our favorite resort, and we've stayed at quite a few of them. We had a room in Acadian House in the Mansion Section, with a view of the pool. Our room was ready when we arrived (and that was wonderful, since we hadn't slept in two days!). I'm trying to get my trip report together, but I developed a horrible head cold while I was in Florida, and I'm still feeling pretty awful. I took a bunch of pictures, which I'll be posting as part of that report, hopefully tomorrow if I feel up to it!

Sorry for the delay in bumping this for the weekend--there's work being done on the building we live in, and it hasn't gone very well. They're replacing the roof, and for some reason they had the entire roof open on Friday, while it poured rain all day. My apartment and my daughter-in-law's apartment (we live next door to each other) have some water damage. Mine is minor, and limited to my kitchen. Hers affects her bedroom, my granddaughter's bedroom, and their dining room. All the walls and ceilings will have to be replaced. So, we've spent a lot of time this weekend moving stuff around and figuring out what, if anything, needed to be thrown out. Fortunately, no personal belongings have been badly damaged, and their place is still habitable, if a bit damp. The landlord has promised to repair everything ASAP.

Of course, tomorrow my inlaws are coming to visit, for a graduation party for Shannan (my granddaughter). She graduates from pre-school in the morning!

Beth

Hi Beth,

Gosh sounds like you had some bad luck there with the building and the rain. Thank goodness you didn't have more damage. Hope you have a good time tomorrow at your Grandaughter's Pre-School Graduation.

I spoke with one of my friends (Kathy) who is also going on the cruise (and to POR too) and she was so excited to hear that I had spoken to you and says that we really have to meet up. Believe it or not, in your photo you look very like our other friend Linda who is also going with her hubby. Or maybe she looks like you!! Anyhow, she's the Disney Expert in our group closely followed by our other friend Judy, that I spoke off before.

This will be the first trip for Kathy's family & my family. Judy and her family have been to Disney twice before I think and Linda and Hubby have been many times, including a 7 day cruise. I can't believe that it is only 6 months away. Also, Judy and her husband are renewing their vows on board as well so we are sure to have a real celebration.

I'm originally from Ireland (also my hubby & kathy's husband) and this past weekend I suggested to some of my sisters and their families in Ireland that we all get together for a family reunion on a Disney Cruise in 2008. Not sure if it will happen or not but at least I've put the idea in everyone's head!!

Well, must go as work calls in the morning. Hope to hear from you again Beth. Looking forward to your photo's of POR.

I wonder if we will start to have any other fellow cruisers who are on our cruise posting in the next few months.

Well, it's 9:15 AM, the roofer is finally here to close up the building, the landlord is going to redo my son's entire apartment (including the undamaged portion) with new bath and kitchen, as well as repair the damage to my kitchen ceiling. It's a beautiful, sunny day, so no more water will get in.

I'm still working on my trip report and getting the pictures posted, but it's all coming soon!

It's very hard to believe that the cruise is coming up so quickly. This is the longest we've waited for a cruise. We usually decide about five months ahead, and end up booking four months out, but this time we knew what we wanted to do.

I can't wait to meet everyone on board!
