Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite resort. DH (Jim) and I are heading there this Friday for four nights, planning to attend the Flower & Garden Show at Epcot, celebrating Mother's Day, Father's Day, my birthday and anything else we can think of to celebrate!
My best tip for first time cruisers is to realize that you can't see it all and do it all in four nights! It's a vacation (although a rather expensive one), so relax and enjoy it. The ship is beautiful. Take time to walk around and just enjoy it. Don't let these boards build your expectations too high, that way, if something unexpected does happen, you can go with the flow and relax and enjoy. There's always something to do, even if the weather turns nasty!
Make sure you use plenty of sunscreen! Even in November and December the sun is very bright, and you can get burned on a cloudy, overcast day, too. Don't leave your room without "gooping yourself up" as my granddaughter says.
We've been assigned to room 2601, which is a Category 10 room on Deck 2. We had a Cat. 7 with a Navigator's Verandah last time, and that was very nice, but we really didn't use the verandah enough to justify the cost for us this time. We really liked the split bath, though!
We're a party of just two adults, and we'll already be settled on the ship since we will have just finished the previous four-night cruise, so as the time gets closer, I'll try to coordinate a meet, since I won't have any unpacking to do!
If you have any questions (about the cruise, WDW or Port Orleans Riverside), don't hesitate to ask. You can post here, you can PM me, or you can reach me by email.
I'll be posting lots of pictures of the resort next week!
